few scenes i like in ep 1:
christiane buys cigarette pack at station
alright secretly soft towards this scene.. i admit. and will explain why. technically nothing happens but it's one of the earlier times where christiane, as a character, is hopeful and 'happy'. she seems to giggle and get excited over buying a cigarette pack 'for her dad'. such small thing enough to bring out a smile, in contrast to her not being even remotely close to happy with all drug consumption later on. i also like how we simply see her alone, clean in train station, not surrounded by anybody (which becomes rare later on). and there's this dreampop melancholic track that accompanied the scene which gave me retro german tingles.
think this is my favorite character introduction in wkbz. it's structured in a way that builds personal pre-group dynamic between christiane and axel. before seeing them in group, we're already aware of their inside joke, job interview talk, giggles etc. the scene makes their future deal / what type of relationship they'll have clear (in lot of ways). also, axel looks like a kitten. and i noticed christiane loves his company so much.. her expression during whole interaction is ^^. wholesome encounter scene with awkward bits and fun bits and.. cute bits.
axel's job interview / early traits
again, technically not an eventful scene (though one could argue about it.. since axel provides lot for others.. and he's the first to become financially independent, even gives boys work at his place). i practically love all axel scenes in this episode. this displays his early hard working, sensitive tendencies well (helping out, asking for a chance..) and i like seeing things go right for him.
in addition to that, also loved this small part where he helps out again and calls it 'a good deed every day'.... <3
another subtle / early scene where things are hinted about a character never to be brought up again. when asked for help, michi nonchalantly picks gay prostitution as a way to earn money. it's one of the rare times where interpretation might be given on how he perceives his sexuality. bit detached with a cynical tone (he thinks it's quickest way to earn money) with defensive demeanor (answers vaguely as soon he's confronted even by his best friend). was a short subtle scene that i had few thoughts about.
