You said you’d like some prompts, how about Nico and Hazel (platonic) and ‘detail.’
Set somewhere after The Blood of Olympus.
“I just think it could use….some color…is all,” Hazel managed, eyeing the Hades cabin with a certain air of distaste.
Dark floors, dark walls, enchanted sconces on the wall. Dark gray bedspread, a painting of a cypress tree curling in the corner, and a sprig of Asphodel in a (black) vase in each window were about the only colors.
Nico crossed his arms. “I like it dark. Helps me sleep better.”
Hazel tilted her head. “Well yeah, but like…there’s some small things you could add. Nothing crazy. I’m just saying. Dad might be the god of the dead, but we don’t have to live like the dead.”
“The dead have more fun anyway.”
Hazel scoffed and smacked him, though she was smiling. “They do not. Liar. Come on, I guarantee I can make it look cooler in here. Please? Just a few small details, and-”
“You’re going to keep asking until I cave, aren’t you?”
She grinned, cheeky, and Nico rolled his eyes. His lips twitched. “Fine. But remember: you’re a guest. I get executive decision.”
She nodded, faux serious. “Oh of course, sir. Now shoo. Come back later. I have work to do.”
When Nico was finally allowed back in his own cabin (seriously, the Romans could be pushy when they wanted to be) he was….well, floored, was the only way to put it.
The literal floor, which had once just been a dark wood paneling, was now black tile spotted with glittering gems. The rest of the decor was exactly the same, save for the Asphodel vases, which were now clear and weighed down with amethysts, tigers eye’s, and black opals on the inside.
Hazel stood in the center, arms crossed and looking proud. Nico’s shoes clicked as he walked across the new flooring. “How much is this all worth?”
She grinned. “Nothing, when you’re me. You like?”
“I…” He shook his head, rolling his eyes in a valiant attempt to hide his smile. “I do. It’s a little sparkly, but…it looks good. And I like the vases. That was a nice detail. You probably could have left it at that.”
“No way. I’m determined to get you to like colors.”
“The gay flag is a literal rainbow, Nico.”
