I have nothing to criticize the graphics are literally stunning, full of colors and details, as I have nothing to say about the music produced by Evan call, which are really small masterpieces always put at the right moment to give more emphasis during the scenes. But the plot is really reduced,compared to the story told in the light novel.

The story(in the anime) is focused only and exclusively on the character of Violet and her suffering.She’s pretty much Hachiko:she gets a “bad ending”waiting and waiting for someone who never come,for this reason the anime is so cruel. Who must have been the co-protagonist of this anime, that is the major Gilbert, has become a secondary character, that is shown to the viewer through flashbacks repeated several times during the course of the 13 episodes, without showing his feelings: There is no trace of the initial fear that has for the abilities of Violet, as well as, more importantly, there is no trace of his deep pain and sense of guilt for having used Violet as a weapon and for having deprived her of a normal life.Another point is the fact that KyoAni decided to make Gilbert’s existence a “mystery”.Also Hodgins, Catteleya and Benedict, the secondary characters, who had to support and help Violet in her emotional growth, are so flat that their presence is even superfluous.What I want to say is that Kyoto animation could do much more : they could concentrate less on the graphics, which would have been wonderful anyway, and focus more on the story told by the light novels by doing more episodes and ending a series that could truly become a masterpiece.
