not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!
This is the weird thing about time. The only reason people think society at large can't function or exist without the use of AI is that it's become so normalized that we've forgotten how perfectly fine we were without it. The same thing happened when cell phones became ubiquitous in the early 2000s. People were just fine without pocket phones before then, but afterwards, we couldn't imagine life without them. The only difference is, I would argue, that cell phones, at least before they became mini computers, didn't make entire generations stupider or steal from entire industries.
My favorite way to respond to abled people who ask if I can have sex is "sure I can, just not with you.”
Disabled people are not "lucky" that they "don't have to work".
Remember that service animals are working. Do not touch them.

Stop telling disabled people that you'd kill yourself if you were in our shoes. It's not the compliment you think it is. You might as well be saying "I'm surprised you haven't killed yourself yet. Why are you alive?"
It's a fucking disgusting thing to say.
I've been thinking a lot about my professional journey. About how universities tried their hardest not to have to train a disabled psychologist. About how immediately it became apparent that employers did not want to hire a disabled psychologist.
I still want to cry every time I remember how hard it is for people like us.
I'm a therapist, and every time I tell someone that I work with neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ people, the first question I always get is "so do you fix them?”
My guy, they're not broken.
Autism Speaks is ass.
Yes, many disabled people can go outside and do things. And even if we can't, our lives are still worth living.

The next time you feel like being condescending and tell a disabled person to “advocate for themselves”, remember that they probably already did, and chances are, nobody listened.
If someone tells you they are disabled, believe them. Even if you can’t see it, believe them. Not all disabilities look the same. Not all disabilities are visible. Not all disabilities present the same way from person to person, and sometimes the best thing you can do for us is believe us when we tell you that we need your support.
Disabled people’s needs are not “special”.
I work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. During my orientation and on-boarding, I found it about this particular law that allows companies to pay disabled people sub minimum wage.
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938, specifically Section 14(c), allows employers to pay workers with disabilities less than the federal minimum wage under specific conditions. This practice is known as a subminimum wage and requires employers to get a certificate from the U.S. Department of Labor, with the wage based on the individual's productive capacity compared to that of a non-disabled worker.
The rage i have felt since Feb 11.
The fact that I was almost 40yrs old before I found out about this stupidly, discriminatory law is absurd.
The way the US education system intentionally keeps us dumb.
Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency should've ended the minute he made fun of a disabled reporter on national television in 2016.
Somehow, it didn't, and now we have a president who unashamedly, unapologetically uses ableist slurs during press conferences to make his dumbass points.
As if any more proof was needed that the US hates disabled people.

Disabled people don’t exist to make abled people feel better about their lives.
We aren’t your “angels sent from heaven” or your teachable moments.
We aren't your reminders of how much worse things could be for you.
We’re people who just want to live.
I wish all ableists a shitty thanksgiving. :)
