To be honest, I don't care if MCR never releases another album again.

I'm just glad they're back, and that doing their jobs is fun for them again.

If they release a new album, I will absolutely piss my pants with excitement, but I'm not waiting for it and frankly, it's not something I need in order to love this band. The pressure to "give us something" broke them up last time, and frankly, I would be more devastated if that happened again than I ever would be if we never got another album.

I'm just happy they're happy.

PSA: artists make music and sell merchandise for a living.

They are usually backed by labels and management teams who have expectations and decide things for them.

You are often REQURED to put out a certain number of records before you can get out of your contract.

MCR has been locked in a notoriously predatory contract for years. Which they are even signed in the first place to reach more people. To reach us.

They have been putting out rereleases and remasters to give us songs we didn't have access to before (outside of like, YouTube and piracy), and, likely, in order to fulfill the requirements of the contract, SO THEY CAN GET OUT.

They're not "selling you a car on TV". They are doing their jobs, at standard music industry rates, that they do not set.

And that's not even getting into the fact that tours are expensive to run. Where do you think that money is coming from?

(And if that's truly what you think they're doing, and you straight up bought the "car on TV", the fuck are you complaining for, that's a YOU problem.)

not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!

This is the weird thing about time. The only reason people think society at large can't function or exist without the use of AI is that it's become so normalized that we've forgotten how perfectly fine we were without it. The same thing happened when cell phones became ubiquitous in the early 2000s. People were just fine without pocket phones before then, but afterwards, we couldn't imagine life without them. The only difference is, I would argue, that cell phones, at least before they became mini computers, didn't make entire generations stupider or steal from entire industries.

I've been thinking a lot about my professional journey. About how universities tried their hardest not to have to train a disabled psychologist. About how immediately it became apparent that employers did not want to hire a disabled psychologist.
