my very specific and self-indulgent HC of the day is that knightster thematic colors, or homedstuck text colors, or whatever, would be #190019 (knight) and #E6FFE6 (gaster)
0x19 has the 9 which is charanumber, is 25 in decimal which is dessnumber. E6 has the 6 which is gasternumber. the colors are perfect complements of each other in their RGB values. and yet, rather than being pure black/white, they retain just a bit of their original green and purple/magenta. despite how much they try to be perfect embodiments of the darkness and light as opposing forces... also they would be frustrating and hard to read on dark and light backgrounds respectively. which i think is also themes
@eleki-sparkle okay, so you know what i said about "a couple weeks?" yeah i lied nobody's faster than me i got to a6i4. i was being silly to myself about how i couldn't tell #190019 from #000000 (author text/black color), and one of the first things this guy said was that he was having a hard time telling his text color from the author (before he changed it). what did i see.
oh my god I completely forgot about both of these bits LMAO, that's wild.
but yeah now that you're up to this point like⦠red-and-green / black-and-white character duality, locked in conflict until one or the other prevails but whose session is completely dead without both of them. each carries a huge amount of knowledge and influence over the narrative to the point that their aspects (time and space) are the two core building blocks of paradox space. calliope using her foreknowledge as a cheerful helpful Vaguely British (???) guide who nonetheless refuses to Tell Anyone Anything while caliborn acts actively antagonistic towards the narrative⦠where does it fucking end with these two. they're skeleton angel serpents. TOBY!!!!

i swear, i swear on my life this is not the account of a d*ssr*el hater. i post other things too, i'm probably going to stop talking about it after this, but i can't fucking. stop thinking about that love letter. on the face of it it's shipbait, but he calls her "december." the only other time someone calls her "december" in-game is tenna, when he's being insensitive about her due to not knowing she's gone missing, in a scene that i'm near-certain is meant to read as uncomfortable for kris and players who know about the lost girl. rudy, noelle, and the narration/kris (i.e., people who are close to her and would care about her preference in these matters) all call her "dess." the /december/ page on the sweepstakes leads to a 404 error that says specifically "this page may have had its name changed." the /dess/ page is the one that leads to the red guitar with findher.ogg.
i don't think it's a stretch to surmise that she prefers being called "dess." it's a bit further of a jump, but not too far, to surmise that she sees "december" as tied to the ridiculous holiday aesthetic that her whole room is a monument to the defiance of... an aesthetic enforced by carol, the same way carol, on some level, enforces dess being a small-town princess and a "proper girl." one who falls in love with and gets married to a "proper boy." if we assume this kind of context, maybe that "proper boy" calling her "december" in his unsent letters is, if nothing else, a microcosm for a tacit acceptance of all that shit. or maybe i'm reading too much into it. probably the latter
now that i'm reading it btw i am realizing that the "holiday aesthetic" and the piles of hearts pillows is really just the arbitrary spam of one or multiple objects/object types a homestuck character would be subjected to in their home. "dess holiday" even fits the 4-7 kid naming pattern
