Felt Bubba the Boar and Bubba SOA card for Ian 8-)
Latest crafty thingy: corgi cushion.
Happy Easter!
New year new illustration course so I'm back on tumblr. Here's a cartoon I drew in my first class yesterday. It had to consist of three images that told a story, contain a ball of wool and be inspired by the word 'solitude'.Ā

Monsters ar real! Loving all the Flickr photos from the Biodiversity Library. Happy Halloween, everyone!
Latest daft craft: the Black Boar Bubba spectacle case. Forgot to take a pic of my last knitted monsterpiece: Zombie Dave Lonbardo. Bet you're gutted.
Exploring the Cooper Hewitt collection and discovered this - a poster for Alice Cooper supporting Ike & Tina Turner in 1969. Awesome!

Just ordered Space Corgi on a T shirt for Baby Niece. How adorable?!
Another knitted David Bowie, discovered on Pinterest. Although somebody really ought to knit him a catsuit!

Not done much knitting recently but this week I finally finished this Zombie Gravedigger, from Fiona Goble's Knit Your Own Zombie. I think he's rather cute. Next up, knitted Dave Lombardo... Seriously!
Here's my final project for my illustration course: 4 Wind in the Willows postcards featuring the main characters in 1960s style.
The Wind in the Willows has always been one of my favourite childrenās stories,Ā and is now one of my nieceās top books too. So despite the fact that itās alreadyĀ been illustrated many times and far more beautifully than I could ever attempt, IĀ wanted to do my own take on it. I donāt know what exactly possessed me to moveĀ Kenneth Grahamās charming turn-of-the-century pastoral idyll into the 1960s.
But Mr Toadās exuberance and delight in embracing one fad after another madeĀ me sure that he would love to take to the road as an upper class flower power hippy,Ā with a VW campervan in place of his canary yellow gypsy caravan.Ā (A sketch shows a later incarnation as a 1970s James Hunt figure driving a Jaguar E-type.)
Ratty, in his striped boating blazer, is surely a Mod (if he looks a bit wonky in his pictureĀ itās because he was modelled on Keith Moon) while wise old Badger had to be aĀ white-robed druid. With tartan slippers. And Mole is, well, Mole: fastidious, practical and immune toĀ the whims of fashion.
The key is appreciating what you have and not always be looking for something more, and being miserable because youāre not getting it. Iām easily pleased. I think the key is appreciating what you have and not focusing on what you donāt have. And also staying true to yourself, donāt compromise your integrity.

Tonightās assignment: a book cover illustration for The Catcher in the Rye. It's a bit rubbish.

Here's today's effort from my illustration class. The brief was to Google the words 'lonely childhood' and find an article that included them, then illustrate its themes. This was the article I found, by Jenni Murray (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2300132/Jenni-Murray-The-lifelong-pain-lonely-child.html), where she talks about coming under pressure from her parents to be perfect, and having no-one to share happy memories or responsibilities with. I thought it was a bit overwrought, but perhaps easy for me to say with a sister!
So this marvellous image I found on Pinterest is going to be my inspiration for tonight's illustration class. We have to illustrate a two-word phrase picked from a hat. Mine is lonely childhood. Sadface.
