Week 9: Multimodal Work Example
https://read.bookcreator.com/library/-LTvfdeq_hgYPLcaEn_4/book/0KFd8t-UR4i8Aq-pTaVR9wÂ
I have chosen this picture book as it illustrates effectively how the online platform Book Creator can be used to enhance a simple narrative. The student, Sasha, created a short story using images, text, oral language and animation, to further engage her target audience. This would be a useful work example in the classroom as it provides context and clarification to taking narrative writing to the next level with students. The incorporation of the multimodal elements extends the target audience and makes the narrative more accessible to a larger range of people. The website Book Creator also provides a range of other work examples in various genres which would be of benefit in the classroom depending on the topic and age of the students.
Week 7: Teacher Resources
Reading a-z: https://www.readinga-z.com/
This is a website that can be used both as a planning tool and an in-class resource for reading education. This website provides a range of non-fiction and fiction texts levelled into reading groups, along with supporting comprehension quizzes, lesson plans, language and text convention focus and linked assessments. This resource was beneficial within my last placement round as it allowed me to become familiar with guided reading in a new year level, while also allowing the students to lead the reading with their choice of subject area or focus. The teacher resources packages provided for each text are extremely detailed, allowing me to develop a more thorough understanding of questioning and prompting for students before, during and after a text is read.
FUSE: https://fuse.education.vic.gov.au/VC/Teacher?english
This is a website run through the Victorian State Government and is a collection of resources relevant to the Victorian Curriculum. For literacy in particular, the website provides a range of links, resource packages, and programs that could be incorporated into teacher planning or in-class lessons. The literacy support provided ranges from reading, writing and speaking and listening, and involves options for integrated technology as well as technology free lessons for a range of ages.
