Daisy awoke with a start taking a deep breath, her lungs aching from what she assumed was lack of use. Her eyes adjusted to the light and she looked around her roomβ¦and it looked just as it had the day before sheβd traveled to Whittemore once more. She picked up her phone and started at the date that shown so brightly on the screen. This canβt be right. She put down the phone but it rang moments later as her cab arrived to take her back to the school. Her bags were packed, just as they had been that morning that felt like so long ago. Daisyβs feet touched the cold wooden floor and the sensation sent shivers through her. For so long she had felt nothing, everything seemed to feel so much stronger now.Β
She stood in front of those iron gates and didnβt want to go. It wasnβt because of what had happened before, no it wasnβt like that, it was more about what would happen. Daisy was sure of it. This had happened before and it had been the end of her. Literally and figuratively. Sheβd lost it all after working so hard to move past it. A breeze blew her hair in her face and Daisy closed her eyes - it had been so long since sheβd felt the breeze, smelled the earth, heard the birds sing. She didnβt want to lose it ever again. Her eyes fluttered open and she took another deep breath, this time to calm herself.Β βItβll be different this timeβ¦things donβt have to end the same way.β Her words did little to build her confidence but it was something.
Oh, it was true that most were bewildered by the time lapse that had left them living their lives as they had been more than a decade earlier but Texas was relatively unfazed. Stranger things had happened it seemed to her and would continue to do so over the span of her lives. She was not upset about this, in fact, it was more of a fun detour from her older life back to the place where it had all began. A place where she knew that nothing could be the same but what did it matter? Lives changed every day and she didnβt complain.Β βDaisy?β The excitement in her voice was clear but it was not to do with the girl who had not risen from the dead to relive this strange period of their lives. No, Texas paid little attention to how utterly mind boggling this scenario was, her main focus more on the fact that she too had found herself dead once and then alive and now she had someone to talk to about it, even if a small part of her mentality must have known how little Daisy had ever wanted to talk to her,Β βLook at you, so fresh. I almost felt better the second time I was alive, do you feel that way too?β

The more Texas talked, the more Hannah remembered her. The quirkiness of her was a side she only could have known in person. Thinking about it, she could see glimpses of a previous arrival to the Whittemore reunion. It was like some sort of alternate reality, and she had been more excited about the prospect of this arrival than confused.Β βHe had to have come. He was here before, and how would I have gotten here if he didnβt come, too? I remember because he was upset with me for convincing him to bring me with him, and he tried to send me back to the shop countless times. Has this actually happened before? Iβm not just going insane, am I?β
"Gosh, I donβt know,β Texas sighed, exasperation clear on her dark features as she pushed her brown hair back out of her face, red lips pushing together for a second or two. Charlesβ notes for her were still tucked under her bed but she thought vaguely about throwing them into a stream to be devoured by the current naturally like their lives.Β βNo, youβre not insane. Iβm totally bonkers but youβre probably only Whittemore crazy,β she reassured, eyes widening slightly,Β βGolly gosh, time travel really is out of control these days. We should of made a map.β
ohmyhannah:
What the hell was happening? Two separate sets of memories were at war in her mind, fighting for dominance, but it only left Hannah more confused than ever.Β βI have no clue what youβre on about, but this is the first time Iβve ever set foot here. At leastβ¦ Iβm pretty sure,β she mumbled, losing herself to her thoughts yet again. Nothing felt right, but everything felt familiar. The whole concept left Hannah lightheaded.Β βWhere is Jonah?β Maybe changing the subject to somethingβsomeoneβabsolutely familiar would ease her racing mind.
As if the thought was the most natural thing in the world, Texas realised that the thoughts that were cluttering her mind were a new brand of unusual but she couldnβt quite find a way to articulate what she meant. As usual she was left with the inability to explain herself as a normal person would and she momentarily cursed the whirlwind that went on every day inside that pretty little head of hers,Β βThereβs nowhere youβve never been before, weβve trod a million paths, Hannah,β she told the woman in font of her -- although thinking about it, girl seemed like a better term, as if she had seen them both weather even if it seemed unlikely as they stood there.Β βI donβt know, perhaps he didnβt come,β she suggested sounding more like a version of herself that wasnβt her at all, the thought of her twin sister twirling in her mind in a melancholic fashion,Β βMaybe itβs better not to be found at all this time around. Hide and seek.β
ohmyhannah:
Brows furrowed, Hannah studied the girlβs face.Β βYouβre Texas White, arenβt you? Oh, my God! Jonah and I have you recorded! We have to have it recorded because he pipes in every three minutes, but thatβs another story. I canβt believe youβre here! Itβs so nice to meet you; I feel like I know you, but I guess thatβs a celebrity thing.β Finally taking a breath, she snapped herself out of the brief starstruck moment.Β βIβm sorryβ Early?? What do you mean?β
While Texas was confused she was not under the impression that this was any mere feeling of repetition, whether or not it was her fond and lost memories of her daughter that reminded her of the truth or not, she was very much aware of it,Β βI mean I thought that you came later,β she pointed out simply, unaware of the implication of her own words as she always had been in this lifetime that she was now puzzled by,Β βBut you were here when it all went red, red, red. Maybe orange, blinding colours of denial. But Trevorβs still alive now. For a few more days, heβs still in the same world as me and heβs still good and thatβs pretty nice.β
Hannah looked around her, perplexed at the thought of being back here at Whittemore. Hadnβt it been years since this dreadful reunion sheβd fought her way into attending with Jonah? Hadnβt she just been in the middle of writing up forms in the office, counting the seconds to when she could go home to do something she actually enjoyed? Then again, it all seemed like a distant memory, like a dream even. Something in her gut told her she hadnβt spoken to or seen Jonah, Freddie, Millie, or anyone from Whittemore in ages, but she could also distinctly remember having a conversation with Jonah just yesterday about taking a trip to Southeast Asia for new artifacts for the shop.Β βIs it just me, or does this seem a little like deja vu to you?β she asked, turning her head to the person coming up on her right.
"Deja Vu?β Texas questioned, a tone that was foreign to her considering she did not often question, most of her points simply unrelated and extremely strange. Her head tilted to the side as she wound a loose pink ribbon around her skinny wrist for a third time, her gaze meeting Hannahβs and recognising the girl immediately although perhaps in this lifetime they had never met.Β βI donβt think so,β she pointed out easily, her tone unfaltering,Β βBut arenβt you early?β she stressed, her brow furrowing slightly as if this was her main concern,Β βI didnβt think you arrived the same day as me and Danny. Oh, Danny,β she mused, expression softening,Β βWhat a dandelion.β
