ilya   had   both   hated   and   loved   his   brother.   he   had   stuck   true   to   his   word   about   not   returning   home   while   making   sure   his   niece   was   well   taken   care   of.   if   there   had   been   one   good   thing   left   in   russia   ,   it   had   been   her.
