penelope's words make her cheeks flush. hyacinth adores the older woman just as much as she adores her own sisters. penelope had always been one of the family for as long as eloise had known her. hyacinth had bonded with the older woman, admired her for a long time.
perhaps penelope knew that. perhaps that was why she was humoring hyacinth. hyacinth knew her older siblings loved her, but being the youngest, it was sometimes hard to find friends to interact with. she held the stories of her siblings on her shoulders, knew that she was being compared to them everytime she went out.
"yes. we are rather lucky." she spins one more time before stopping, smoothing out the creases in her dress before once again taking Penelope's arm, acutely aware of the eyes upon her, cheeks flushing. she'd rather be at home, reading in the garden or playing cards with her brothers.
but as a bridgerton, these events were a necessary evil. "I hear that Colin is going to participate in the rope pulling contest." out of the corner of her eye, she looks to evaluate Penelope's response. she knew that her brother and the other were FRIENDS but Hyacinth had long thought that they both wanted to be more.
as she takes a glass of lemonade, the youngest bridgertons eyes scan over the other. "did you get new dresses? I really adore yours."
