🐾 That wasn’t exactly the reason for why they hesitated- it was more so that they weren’t sure what they had done to deserve the food. Ears flickered slightly as they listened, tilting their head to the side as they simply watched them. It was… nice to help someone? But… Didn’t most people expect something out of doing such things? How confusing…
“…Uhm… Okay… And… it’s certainly a change…”
“Hopefully it doesn’t taste weird. I’m still learning how to cook. If you don’t like it, we can go to the inn! There was one a bit of a ways back..”
It’d be a walk, but the food had been great and that made it worth it. A blink as he looked back to the other, lips curling in a bright smile as he still held it out. Keyne didn’t really know what else to say to make the other more comfortable.
“You don’t have to pay me back. I’m helping because I want to. But if it makes you feel weird then...” A hum of thought before he nods. “You can pay me back with a smile!”

🐾 Eyes widen a bit in surprise, pupils widening at the offered snack. They reached out towards it before withdrawing their hand for a moment. Their brow furrowing as they seemed to be thinking something over before looking back towards them.
“Uhm… Why… Why do you want to help me…? I… Don’t exactly have much to offer… Except myself…”
Gaze looking off to the side, shifting a bit. In all honesty, they didn’t know where they were going.
“I… don’t actually know.”
The world- no people- could be cruel, Keyne knew that well. So it was fair, to not be trusted. Shaking his head, he smiles, holding out the food towards the other once more. But even with those thoughts, he still wanted to be kind to others and help.
“Because, I want to. It’s nice to help someone.” It was hard to explain the urge in his heart. “You don’t have to pay me back and I like sewing!”
Light blue hues watched the other before looking around. They were alike in that way. Keyne didn’t have a place in mind, just keep walking, following things that caught his eye.
“That’s okay! It’s more fun to wander.”

🐾 The young individual blinked, tilting their head in confusion. What a strange question-! Why wouldn’t they be okay? Glancing down, they realized why the other might have asked if they were sure they were okay. They had a bit of blood on their clothes and bandages wrapped around their arms and their feet were bare.
“Thank you… For your concern, but I promise! I’m okay. These are just from scrapping my hands and arms on the jagged rocks!”
It was times like this he wished he knew how to heal. A small frown as the teen reached into his pack, if he can’t heal, the least he could do was help in other ways. With a cheery smile, Keyne held out a premade snack.
“If I may, can I atleast mend your clothes and wash them?” He was pretty decent with a needle and thread. “Where are you heading Mister?”

even after a productive day your chest still feels empty sometimes, the worry you will never find what you are meant to do weighing on you. it's not always easy to find something that seems meaningful to you. it's okay not to know what you want to do, destiny can be a concept that is more harmful than reassuring. you don't have to find a single thing you will do for the rest of your life, start something you enjoy now and life will lead you down paths you can't even imagine right now. you will find satisfaction somewhere down the line!

Keyne doesn’t think when he lurches forward, his heart is steeled with the sole ideal that someone was in trouble and as such he had to help. He had no business butting into this fight, but what if someone got hurt!? The thin but study metal of his polearm twirls over his palm before he grips it as tightly as his conviction. The back and blunt end smacks the bandit upside the head, a quick apology leaving the teen’s lips.
