The creepy feesh
This one might a a bit of artis-to-artis type of question, sorry for anon btw So recently my RL friend asked me to draw her and I worked really hard on it, but I feel a bit reluctant to ask her to pay for it. I forgot to mention that I don't make free art, but she's always so nice and supportive. Currently I really need the money, but I feel like it could ruin or ar least damage our relationship. Have you ever been in a similar situation? What should I do? Thanks for your time! :)
Iâve been in slightly different situations. I donât make free art myself, and all of my friends get paid art only from me, unless I myself initiate it as a gift for them. If your friend is that nice and supportive, and requested this from you, it shouldnât be an issue to just be upfront with her. You can he honest and tell her about it, and if she understands, more power to both of you. Itâs ultimately your decision on what you should do, but from my experience Iâve been lucky enough to to have friends who understand that work is work and gifts are gifts. Requests when not in a gifting context are paid for me.

Thank you for all the explanations and answered art questions! You're so amazing :) Also, are you currently working on any important, serious projects? (just curious)
Dâaaw of course, itâs no problem :)Â I just finished drawing two of my OCs in formal wear, I already posted one on twitter, Iâll post the other one in a bit. Also working on a commission for a friend. I wouldnât consider these big projects though. Because of school I donât get a lot of time to do them, so I just work on smaller pieces instead. Last time Iâve done a âbiggerâ project has to be when I drew all of my friends that Iâve met in the meetup in the Netherlands this August. It was 6 people in one image, all equally detailed and in the exact same style, which was a bit of a challenge heh. But itâs done and Iâm quite proud ^^Â
Can you please explain what do you mean by saying that it's possible to steal someone's art style? I do understand that literally copying a piece of art made by someone else and say that it's mine is wrong (obviously), but in my opinion Art style isn't something that could be stolen or copied because I believe that no one could draw the same thing and make it 100% similar. Maybe it's because I'm not an artist, but I don't think art style could be "cloned" as no two people can draw the same way
Thatâs a very good point! No matter what you do youâll never be able to copy an art style 100%, but what Iâm saying is that you can definitely get extremely close. In truth, intentionally doing that doesnât hurt other people as much as it may hurt you. See, when youâre learning from an art style. for example an anime art style of some sort, you donât learn from reality. Youâll have a much harder time doing original things. Iâve done a mistake like this when I was younger with an artist I really admired. I tried to draw details exactly as she did. My learning experience was very weak because of that, and when I noticed that I only *really* improved when doing proper studies, I stopped trying to do everything like her. I often try to remember what multiple artists do to make things look better, but I never try to do things *exactly* like them. And you can absolutely copy art styles often to a certain amount of perfection if youâre skilled enough. Iâve seen a couple of professional artists draw a couple of drawing in exact art styles of other people, and it was freaky for them to see haha. Also things can be drawn the same way of course, thatâs how a team of animators would function.Â
And is it OK to take inspiration from someone (I know the question Sound stupid), like I see something that was done by some other artist and try to do the same thing without directly copying or tracing their work. The ending result looks similar to the original, but it's not the same thing. Is it OK to post it without giving the credit to the artis of original piece?
Well that depends on what you mean by âsame thingâ. I would say taking a couple of elements is okay, but just trying to do the exact same thing is basically stealing the style and idea of someoneâs. Be careful. All artists are different, and I cannot speak for all of them, but I would not like this to be done to me.
Do you only do portraits or can you draw nature stuff, still life, etc?
I usually do portraits, but will sometimes do a few studies of random objects.
How to start doing (traditional) art? I know that I should draw a lot and practice, but how to discover my style? Or art supplies that just feel right? Should I find youtube or any other tutorials and do what the people in the tutorials are doing? Do you have any tips on how to do ir?
Well, there is no secret to it. You just do things a lot, and you try things out. You may want to start out with a few tutorials to see what works for you, but the truth is - everyoneâs different. Just work at it and enjoy yourself, donât give up, learn some fundamentals and donât force things, just draw what you want to. However, please donât copy people, or trace their work. You wonât be happy with it in the long run. Or even if you do, donât share that work with others. Keep it to yourself as research.Â

Hello. Will you be making drawing videos only (when you'll be back on YouTube, that is)? Or will there be collaborations, Q&As and other stuff? Chances are that by the end of the year you'll reach 200 subs, which means that people like and appreciate your content and the things you do. Maybe you're too harsh for yourself as at least in my opinion your art is really good, you've improved a lot since the beginning. You're an amazing artist, plz never forget that <3
Hi, I will just have to see. For now school is keeping me too busy to do anything, and I want to dedicate the free time I have to art only for now. I donât know when Iâll get back, but when I will, Iâll try to keep my content interesting for you guys :) Iâve always done âChat & Doodlesâ, which are kinda like Q&As and vlogs combined, with drawing in the background as well. I want people to know that Iâm a person, not just a drawing machine, so yeah, Iâll see what I can do, but that wonât be for a while, which Iâm very sorry about. Iâve earned almost a hundred subscribers without being active, which is sad, but I canât help it.Â
Thank you, anyway <3
(also one more question by me, sorry if I'm being annoying) Do people online/IRL ask you to draw something for them for free? How do you respond to it? Does the answer depend on the relationship status (like would you draw friends or relatives for free?) sorry if these questions sound too personal
They do, sometimes. I donât really agree to it, heh. Unless itâs close family members, because yeaaah, thatâs kinda how it works. Most people around me have gotten used to me not drawing for free for them, if they donât respect my decision I will just draw something stupid very quickly and then theyâll just go away lol. I draw for my friends when I want to. They donât usually ask me to make free work, just because they understand, heh. Being my friend does not give any âfree artâ privilege, because it honestly depends on if I want to draw them stuff ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
