It's always interesting to me how rarely I see people picture the "change" (?) in Michael Shelley

Most times I just see the focus being on "he didn't know because Emma wanted to keep him unaware" but also, he did go through the door, he surely didn't just think that "oh well, Ms Robinson wants me to go through this random yellow door seemingly leading to nowhere, that makes no sense but sure!"

He must've known something, he had the map and knew what to do inside

So when did he find out? Was it mentioned? How did he find out? How did he react?

I also really like that one line The Distortion said about him, "am I evil, archivist? Is a thing evil when it simply obeys it's own nature? When it embodies it's nature? When that nature is created by those which revile it? Perhaps Gertrude believed so, *Michael certainly did*"

that elderly man going to the ER because samira is a friend to him. the obese man who lives alone tearing up at genuine human kindness and acceptance. digby being someone who can mourn louie when he seemed so alone. the hospice patient being able to relax once her parents show up. the college student’s parents being able to accept help from someone that looks like them who’s gone through the same thing.

they keep reiterating how you can’t get through things alone. the jewish community needs muslims, the doctors need pharmacists, dana needs robby. there’s all these macro and micro interactions that enforce this thesis. there are cultural, structural, professional, communal, and interpersonal vectors of support that are so necessary.
