A wonderful textile artist from Uzbekistan - Dilyara Kaipova.

From the exhibition “Laxtak” at Regeneration Art Gallery.

Dilyara continues rethinking Uzbek textile heritage through the lens of contemporary life. We see recognisable robes with classic Ikat patterns merge with images of mass culture and political symbolism. We learn about laxtaks — fabric scraps left from the old suzani embroideries and traditional garments being made into artistic panels.

A special place in the exhibition is occupied by Dilyara's collaboration with a ceramic master Rustam Usmanov from Rishtan.
