I wish Lucanis had more self-harming behaviors to handle Spite with. It would’ve been perfect in making his story darker—which it desperately needed, veilguard crows are the pussiest assassins ever—and giving the game a more serious tone overall.
But the only one they give him is the coffee addiction. And even then they don’t even take that seriously because all they do is say he drinks a ridiculous amount to stay awake but never show any complications that’d come with that.
But I guess they couldn’t take that seriously either because it wouldn’t make him #relatable and would mix badly with all the quirky millenialisms the game is full of
In a better game, we would have gotten an expansion of what they set up inthe first scene of Lucanis at the Lighthouse, when Spite gave Lucanis a nosebleed in his attempt to take over. We would have seen more instances of Spite physically harming Lucanis out of spite and Lucanis v drinking coffee wouldn’t have been the Millennial Quirk Personality Trait Veilguard made it. His growing possession should have been something horrible, not a quirky personality trait and an internal gremlin who every once in a while threw a temper tantrum.
