Environmental Justice Photowalk today with my youth, designed a quick curriculum/activity. Rather than do boring theoretical/academia blah blah, I’m going to have my youth use their phones to take pics around the place/community they call home. Youth are going to take pics thinking about green spaces, food access, sources of pollution, and other stuff that they may notice around the neighborhood. They’ll then write a 2 sentence summary for each pic & send it to me, followed by a discussion on what they saw and the greater role that it places on the topic of environmental injustice, tying in all of the theoretical/academia blah blah. Plus, because they are the experts of this community, they will be the ones leading the discussion & identifying the different changes that they’ve seen over the years & provide solutions based on these observations & needs that they have identified among their peers & their backgrounds.
