i love owen. hes so irredeemable, yet so desperate for love and attention. he wants so badly for someone to care for him the way louis did, but no one does. augggghhh my boyyyyy
owen and legs are so sickeningly, intrinsically tied together. they both are broken from circumstances out of their control, but legs tried to correct them, to fix his mistakes, while owen retreated to wallow in his guilt, anger, and self pity. legs sought to right his wrongs, to help people heal, while owen sought to spread his suffering and pain to those who had only “wronged him” by existing.
owen’s belief that no one can ever change from what they once were is so upsetting. he genuinely believes nobody else can change, and therefore, neither can he. he will always be that monster that murdered thousands, even if hidden somewhere beneath it is the sickly young lumberjack or the quiet lover of a mayor. he will never be better, so theres no point trying. he will never heal. he will never be good enough to heal others. he will always be the monster, the undead, the murderer, the disease.
its such subtle horror that abolish thought owen wanted to be cured. especially thinking from his perspective. owen had said yes when asked if he wanted to leave, to carry on louis’ legacy as a human. he had followed abolish to the hill, he had spoken vaguely enough to suggest he might want to join the organization. he had quietly repeated abolish’s notion of new beginnings, of hopeful parallels. he read through the book. he let abolish speak the words. and he chose death.

legs says the date in all of his videos, so we know the time frame of vsmp, just not the exact year. legs also mentions on stream that oakhurst is located in vague eastern europe, and from general info of the series the year can be shown as vaguely early 19th century. it could theoretically be 1806 due to the 2006 timeskip, but we dont know for sure.
i love the subtle implying that legs may or may not have witnissed or participated in cannibalism durinh the war. hes so silly
anybody else fucking love the headcanon that legs is a recovered alcoholic? no? just me? ok
