It was awfully snowy. Too much so for anyone to try to invade Echigo. Kenshin imagined things would be calm for a few weeks, at least. Beyond that, though, it wouldn’t even be possible to do the typical drills he put his troops through. Indeed, he had nothing to do today.
He chuckled warmly at his beloved ninja, patting her cheek gently.
“It is rare to find such a peaceful day, isn’t it?” he replied. “ We’re both so busy so often... I’d adore spending time with you, my dear.” He then took her hand, walking to the porch of his rather humble (for a feudal lord of his wealth, anyway) yakata. He sat down, facing the snowy garden surrounds. “... it is awfully cold. Here,” he said, while pulling the woman down into his lap, hugging her tightly.
