The theory of equivalent exchange is so interesting to me because it recognizes a simple law of nature and transforms it into a philosophy which I find myself living by today.

Recognizing the beauty in sacrifice and loss is something that is learned through experience. When grief overcomes your senses you're unable to see through the lens of hope. The law of equivalent exchange reminds me of a tower-moment, where everything must crumble in order to build from the ground up.

Learning to re-establish oneself is something that I have been working on for a while. The loss of something valuable made me realize the grief and distain I held for myself all these years- and more importantly, I realized I wanted change.

Though, learning to sacrifice in order to gain doesn't need to feel grim. The best relationships are built from trust and vulnerability. An equal exchange of self in order to cultivate a stronger bond between souls. The tradeoff of comfort for new experience and wisdom. The sacrifice of illusion to ground yourself in reality.

The law of equivalent exchange has taught me the unforgivable discipline that is karma. And that's what makes it so beautiful to me.
