Libinia emarginata, or common spider crab, is native to the Atlantic coast of North America. It lives at depths of up to 160 ft (49 m), with exceptional records of up to 400 ft (120 m). Adults are sluggish and not aggressive, and younger crabs are frequently covered with sponges and hydroids. L. emarginata preferentially walks forwards, rather than sideways, although they are also capable of sidelong movement. (X)

Ara ararauna, or Blue and Gold Macaw, is native to South America and is part of the parrot family. The grow 30-34inches and weigh 2-3 pounds. Blue-and-yellow macaws can live from 30 to 35 years in the wild, and reach sexual maturity between the ages of 3 and 6 years. (X)

Coragyps atratus, or black vulture, has a range that extends from the northeastern United States to Peru, Central Chile and Uruguay in South America. It has a wingspan of 4.9 feet. The black vulture is a scavenger and feeds on carrion, but will also eat eggs or kill newborn animals (livestock such as cattle). In areas populated by humans, it also feeds at garbage dumps. It doesn’t have a syrinx, the vocal organ of birds, so its only vocalizations are grunts or low hisses. It lays its eggs in caves or hollow trees or on the bare ground, and generally raises two chicks each year, which it feeds by regurgitation. In the United States, the vulture receives legal protection under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. (X)

Dromaius novaehollandiae, or emus, are the second-largest living bird by height and is native to Australia. They can reach up to 6ft2in in height. (X)

Leiocephalus carinatus, or the northern curly-tailed lizard, seen outside Hotel Belleza. These lizards were initially introduced to Palm Beach, Florida in an attempt to control sugar cane pests. They can grow up to 10 inches (26 cm). When handled, this lizard will play dead. (X)
