At first, I thought about the acceleration rune, its meaning, the forward motion, and how it reflects Jayce’s character. To me, the symbolism is very close to Sagittarius both in sense and in form — its symbol being an arrow♐️ Jayce is optimistic, open-minded, he has a moral code and a greater cause. Sounds like being ruled by Jupiter (which Sagittarius is).

On the opposite side of this axis we see Gemini♊️ Let’s look at Viktor. To me, he is all about exact facts, applied knowledge and practicality. The sharpness of his looks and mind is evident. He is colder, yes, but those mercurial (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini) hands can disarm a bomb. Gemini is also considered a dual sign — there is Viktor, but there also is the Machine Herald.

The ♊️♐️ axis is one out of six axes in the zodiac circle, and I thought why not look deeper into it. Turns out, the rest of them are in jayvik as well.

The circle actually starts with Aries♈️ Ruled by Mars, this sign stands for personal activity, assertiveness, ability to address matters head-on, aggression in a very broad sense. Mars is an archetype of a warrior, so it is associated with the physique, sports, and handcrafting. Hotness, as well (kidding). Who do we have here to match the description? Who is the face of Hextech? Also, whose AKA is the Dedender of Tomorrow in LOL lore? That’s right.

On the other side, we have Libra♎️ It is ruled by Venus, and it is extremely partner-oriented. It was Viktor who approached Jayce first, showing interest in his work. It was him who helped Jayce because he saw the potential, even if doing so was a threat to his own career. It was Viktor who kept reminding Jayce that their goal was to help people, not to surrender to egotistical ambition. Justice is a virtue of Venus. As is aesthetics. Remember the Herald’s automatons? What a sight they are — so perfect and so so cold. Viktor generally is cold wherever Jayce is hot. It’s an essential part of their dynamic.

Next is the ♉️♏️ axis which is interesting, because Taurus is also ruled by Venus, and this time it stands for Jayce. Earth Venus is different from air Venus: it’s hedonistic, material-wise, very physical. The axis itself is about dealing with resources. Whereas Taurus draws strength to change the world from body and self (Jayce works in a forge), Scorpio prefers accessing common resource. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, which is associated with crowd psychology, army forces, resilience and survival, evolution (glorious), transformation, immense power of will, magic and the ability to see things through. Viktor has been surviving all his life, his character hardened by Zaun and chronic illness. His death and transformation into the Herald that followed are also the themes of Pluto, as well as building an army of faceless puppets who are manipulated and seen through their minds.

You probably know that the Moon stands for a mother figure (or a woman in general). It also is the ruler of Cancer♋️ Jayce is surrounded by women and enjoys their company. He has a mother, a sister figure, even a patroness, not to mention a lover. He knows how to be caring, vulnerable and tender, unlike Viktor who is closed off and distant, and seems like he is totally fine with being left alone. His emotional coldness probably stems from a life full of hardships. These are hallmarks of Saturn which rules the sign of Capricorn♑️ Saturn teaches us discipline, patience and commitment through limitations of which Viktor has many. His loneliness and not having anyone to turn to (may I remind you that he doesn’t have a patron like Jayce does), maybe being an orphan, his serious back problems (the back as a body part is also under the rule of Saturn) taught him to only count on himself. He is ambitious and striving towards making a difference in the time (curiously enough, a watch is also a Saturnian artifact, as well as a crown, which is worn by the Herald) he has left — after all, Capricorn is the zenith of the horoscope.

The ♋️♑️ axis is also about the dichotomy of organic and mechanic (obvious here) as well as home vs work. While Jayce definitely has a home (we’ve all seen his childhood room), it seems like Viktor doesn’t even have one! His home is the lab where he spends most of his time. The only place he goes to when he feels down is the cliff overlooking the city — a very high and lonely spot (let’s not forget that Capricorn is a mountain goat).

Jayce’s emotional warmth is a part of his Sun charisma. Sun is the ruler of Leo♌️ The heart (ruled by Leo) full of love is what saves everyone in the end. The Herald’s ideas of transcendence and being of one mind oppose human feelings — sounds quite like Aquarius♒️ Alien design vs sunlit smiles — the visuals make the opposition between the Sun and Uranus vivid.

Last but not least is the ♍️♓️ axis. Virgo is ruled by Mercury (co-ruled by Chiron), Pisces is ruled by Neptune (co-ruled by Jupiter). The themes of the former one are medicine and treatment (the Herald cured people), being a part of the system (the Herald built a commune), and perfectionism (the prize to perfection quote). There also is some religious context in the Virgo symbol. The themes of Neptune are inspiration (Jayce’s earnest desire to harness magic), dreams (I bet those are nightmares though), other realms (Jayce travels between worlds) and faraway places (wherever the blizzard that caught Jayce and his mother may have been).
