maito gai who spent literal decades obsessively chasing kakashi even though kakashi showed basically no indication of caring whether gai lived or died (bc gai knew he did care and just knowing was satisfying enough for him!!!)?? Maito "Sunk Cost Fallacy 99% of Suicidal Shinobi Quit Right Before they Really Do It" Gai .???? if he doesnt want to date someone or feels unfulfilled i truly think he's either gonna break up on the spot or end up in a loveless 30 year marriage Like his approach to being alive!!! and neither of these things are necessarily good either but i just think he'd consider cheating underhanded!! he will confront the issue like a Man or ignore it forever and ever until he explodes

also i FIRMLY believe he's hot and that people find him hot but i think "EXTREMELY POPULAR" is a bit of a stretch considering his entire deal. like idk konoha is notoriously bigoted, after ~50 years (his life+dai's) of being ostracized and bullied most ppl probably think he's crazy. and YES he does have options most people he knows would probably do anything for 1 chance but he's loyal!!!! he's been Rivals with the same guy since he was a toddler!!!!!! he can commit like nobody's business!! maybe to more than one person even but hes COMMITTED!

something i've been having a great time writing is gai as told by random bystanders. yes i wanna hear about gai from his landlord or the manager of the bar he frequents or some civilian who saw him one time. i want to hear rumors about him from shinobi he went on a single mission with, or who haven't even met him but know a guy who knows a guy. he carries such a well crafted facade, but i want to see how people who don't know him interpret his behavior. how does he come off to someone meeting him for the first time? or someone who only knows him peripherally? his students are used to him and it's easy for kakashi to explain gai's behavior, but what about everyone else? what does he look like to people who don't know him???

i fucking hate the naruto epilogue holy moly so many unanswered questions and unresolved threads . purely because kishimoto was too lazy to write them . what was it like in the hospital after they got back to konoha? how long did theh treat sasuke before he was imprisoned ? how did rhe interactions with kakashi and sakura go ? did sasuke apologize properly for how he treated them ? how did naruto and sasuke interact now that they werent trying to beat each other up ? how did the trial go ? how did konoha as a whole feel about it ? did they explore sasukes complex feelings about konoha as an institution ? did theh ever address or take material steps to fix the structural problems and injustices in konoha ? NOPE! TIMESKIP! and hinata and naruto are in love now ans the moon is trying to kill them !
