My spells work flawlessly
Basic Equipment for a Beginner Witch
There are many tools when it comes to witchcraft that can range from a simple stick to a collection of many items to create an elaborate altar. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to obtain your witchcraft tools, or even buy your tools. Oftentimes you can create what you need right at home. With this list I’m going to be naming the best basic equipment a beginner needs to embark on their spiritual journey.
1. Besom/Broom
The Besom is a small handmade broom consisting of different natural items such as Birch twigs or alternatively Brush Corn. Ash, Cedar, Hazel or Oak can be used to make the handles, while the bindings are made of willow. The Besom is often plain, but you can decorate it with dried flowers or ribbons corresponding to the time of year. The Besom is used to ritualistically clear the area where you plan to cast a circle, take part in a ritual or cast a spell.
2. Athame/Ritual Knife
Your Athame is an important energy working tool that is used to draw on energy to cast a circle. The Athame is not usually used for cutting purposes or to create objects used in spellwork unless you are a kitchen witch, then you may use the Athame in kitchen witchery. An Athame is a three edged, double sided knife with a sharp point. Most often Athames have black handles, the color that draws power and wards negativity.
3. Wand
Your Wand is the tool that you use to energize objects, direct energy and greet and say goodbye to the Elementals with. The touch of a wand releases gathered energies into what is touched and sets the magic to work. You can use the Athame and Wand together or interchangeably, it depends on what you prefer. If you are looking for certain properties you want to carry I highly suggest looking at The Grimoire of a Green Witch by Ann Moura and finding the related properties of wood and their correspondences.
4. Bolline/Working Knife
The Bolline is a three edged, white handled knife that is your utility knife when practicing the craft. You can use it to inscribe candles, cut herbs etc. This knife could be as basic as a pocket knife or kitchen knife.
5. Cauldron
The Cauldron can be iron, metal, pottery or ceramic. It can be footed or not and can be large or small. It totally depends on what you prefer. Incense, herbs and candles can be burned in Cauldrons and brews can be made in Cauldrons as well. A fireproof bowl can be used instead of a Cauldron if you prefer that.
ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT
1. Altar Table
Any table or piece of furniture devoted to being your altar.
2. Chalices
A special glass for Libation, and only used when communing with the Gods
3. Bowls for salt, water, offerings
4. Incense Holder
5. Pentacle
6.Candle Snuffer
Used instead of blowing out candles to ensure that your spellwork remains intact
7. Bell
Used to welcome and farewell the Elementals during rituals.
8. Offering/ God & Goddess Candle
Separate candles for each of your gods used for communion.
9. Votive Candles
Meditation Candles
10. Spell Candles
11. Elemental Candles
Used in the Greeting and Farewell of the Elementals.
12. Crystals
Used to bring whatever properties you wish to possess based on the crystal's correspondence.
The first five are necessary basic equipment that any beginner witch needs to get started with their craft. You can substitute all of these things for much more cheaper, affordable options. The additional twelve items are items that I specifically have and use at my altar that aren’t a necessity to have. Hopefully this list helps give you an idea of what you need to get started. Remember! Witchcraft is a craft and your personal craft can be anything you would like it to be! Using these items will just help you along on your spiritual journey. Thanks for reading!
Such beauty 😍😍

Illuminate My Path A sunshine inspired tarot spread
This tarot spread has been inspired by the Sunshine that has been gracing my home in recent weeks; all is aglow and all in bright, and thus it feels right to utilise this Sunshine to shed some light onto ourselves and see where we are headed.
1. The Ground: Just where is your current path based? In what, is your foundation; your beginning; your inspiration? What drives you? Is it growth? Learning? Spirituality? This card will tell you.
2. The Sky: Where will this path take you? You are headed up and away, but where is up and away? What will following this path lead you towards? Fulfillment, hurt, or something else entirely,…
3. The 1st Branch (physical): Paths often wind and twist and branch off into new and interesting places - where else will this path lead to? What opportunities that you did not expect will reveal themselves to you should you continue on this journey?
4. The 2nd Branch (emotional): This path may open up or make you vulnerable to new emotions and feelings; how does this path make you feel and how can you deal with these emotions?
Feel free to use and reblog as you wish, but do not re-post or remove the caption. If you use this spread in paid readings, all I ask is that credit is given to me as its creator. Copyright: ©The Mori Witch. All rights reserved, 2018.
