The Danbury Railway Museum is a train lover’s paradise!
Part 2: Fairfield Hills Hospital; Some interior shots of the abandoned psychiatric facility which closed in 1995. Eerie, disturbing, and sad. Not a place you wanted to be. Scenes from the film Sleepers were shot here.

The abandoned Fairfield Hills Hospital, which treated psychiatric patients from the early 1930′s until it closed in 1995. Underneath the buildings are tunnels (now filled and sealed with concrete) used to shuttle patients to confinement rooms, surgery, and ultimately, a morgue. Scenes from the film Sleepers were shot here. Check out the interior in my Part 2 post.
Some of the weathered, hidden, and charming faces of Stamford, Connecticut.
Here are my spookiest photos for a special Halloween post! Hope you like graveyards, a black cat at a grave, zombies, killer vines, and cobwebs...
Power lines or cords to another dimension? You decide…..
Heartbroken over the destruction of Notre Dame. I’m grateful to have visited it years ago, and I’ll never forget the sense of awe I experienced upon entering. It truly was the greatest example of french gothic architecture in the world. It reminded us all how inspiring and life-changing it is when art and architecture come together as one.Â

The Continental Divide inside Rocky Mountain National Park is breathtaking...literally! The elevation here is high enough to make you suck wind when hiking. The elk don’t seem to mind though.
A taste of the old wild, wild West. The original Silver Dollar Saloon in Leadville, Colorado is the real deal. Doc Holiday was once the Sheriff of the town. Just remember not to count your money while you’re sittin’ at the table, there’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done.
Maroon Lake, Colorado
Take a little trip back in time to the wild west in Leadville, Colorado. There stands the original Tabor Opera House, still putting on performances after all these years and gunfights......Doc Holiday lived and died in Leadville, so I’m sure he took in a show or two.

Who knew there were vineyards in Colorado? We tried the fabulous riesling among others, and it certainly was a nice pitstop while driving through the desert!
My favorite store in Georgetown, CO. Besides being vintage in every way, it’s also one of the oldest continuously family run businesses in the country. I even met Mrs. Kneisel inside, who’s family has run the place since 1883.
