h.r. 2616 is a bill that, if passed, will require that schools prohibit from teaching about "gender ideology," (trans peoples rights and existence) using a students preferred name and pronouns and will force educators to our all trans students to their parents, no matter the risk.

this bill WILL kill trans kids. trans people already have high suicide, sexual assult and domestic violence rates, this will make it much worse for the most vulnerable of the community. the bill will be voted on in the senate soon as it has already passed the house. it has not been given a date for voting yet, so keep an eye on the news. contact your reps using 5calls.org and tell them to vote against it! reblog posts on the topic, keep looking at the news for updates and keep informed! non americans should amplify trans americans voices and keep spreading the word!

Annalise was about 14 years old (I think) in Germany when Hitler rose to power. She watched her friends and neighbors disappeared in the middle of the night, either running away or being dragged from their beds as they slept. Regardless she never saw any of them again. Her brothers were forced to fight in the military. One was killed trying to leave and get back home to his wife. The other died standing up to an officer that outranked him. Neither were killed by enemy bullets.

She was left to work in factories and clean up the dead bodies in the streets with other teens. She told a story about running for cover when planes would fly overhead. There was one time when the plane swooped low searching for targets. Her friend didn't make it to the hiding spot in time. He stood in the street and allowed himself to get gunned down by the passing plane. She said she couldn't imagine why he didn't come when they called out to him, but perhaps it was because he knew he had been spotted and didn't want to reveal their hiding spot.

One day when Annalise was working at her factory job some SS officers came by and she forgot to heil Hitler. They made her stand outside in the pouring rain for the remainder of the day without moving. She went home and caught pneumonia from that incident. Her mother marched down to the factory and found the SS officer that made her daughter stand in the rain. That mama let him HAVE IT. She yelled at him so much and berated that SS officer so thoroughly he ended up apologizing to Annalise. Truly, nothing's scarier than a furious mother.

When Trump was running for president the first time Annalise was haunted by her memories. She told me "The last time I saw a nation acting like this, Hitler came to power." She passed shortly before the election concluded. And honestly I'm glad for her. I'm glad she didn't have to see the worst parts of history, the worst parts of her life, repeated.

Now I have tried and tried time and time again to tell people Annalise's words and the warnings that comes with them. But no one ever listened. No one cared and said Trump wasn't anything like Hitler and that our government would never do that. And yet here we are. Pulling people out of their homes, separating families, putting them into camps, and civilians getting shot and killed for no good reason.

Section 230 is the big one. It protects free speech because it prevents social platforms from being sued to oblivion because of content posted by its users. Basically it makes so social platforms and its users are not treated as the same entity. If Section 230 is repealed, many smaller platforms will not be able to pay off constant lawsuits, so they either will have to heavily restrict user content or face being taken down entirely.
