As of right now I've deleted some of the graphics from the Koushiro piece as I recast him. It looks awkward but it'll just have to do because I don't want that man on my blog at all rn. i just need time to find a new one as he's hard to cast and I don't know many Japanese celebrities.
Brooklyn will be recast as Park Jihoon. I'll make him a new magazine graphic as soon as I can.
āMigum scoffs, as if heās not the only one to have really gotten away scott-free.ā
I wanted to know more about this line! Why is that, what about him is different? love your writing š¤
I mean itās not really true dhdjdj itās true to Cola, but I wouldnāt really say Migum is uniquely loved compared to the others or anything. Itās pretty much contradicted by the article quote, Migum buying the club has people bringing the scandal back up, there are plenty of people who dislike Migum. But at the end of the day, they all got away with it. It was Flash who faced the legal issue, all five of them continued working; Mimi faced the harshest retribution but it led her on a more fortunate path in the end. The scandal made them famous and ultimately was the best thing that could have happened to any of their careers. But it is also one of the most traumatic things that ever happened to Cola and itās tough for him to understand how Migum is so unaffected by it and can find it funny and try to make it cunt, which translates in his brain as him not having to deal with it the way he did.
Cola wants to be liked and accepted more than anything else, and that heās liked and accepted is something that he needs constant validation of. Since heās an idol, there are far too many individual opinions of him for him to ever learn them all and that drives him insane, because as irrational as it may be he wants everyone to like him and feels hurt when someone doesnāt, even a stranger. In Colaās head, the drinking scandal is the thing that made everyone hate him, and as far as he was concerned in 2023 when Migum bought the club, they all still did. His entire career has been about trying to prove to this nebulous concept he has of āeveryoneā that heās someone worthy of being loved and he gets so overwhelmed by negative opinion that it blinds him to the people who do offer what he seeks such as his friends, brother, groupmates, the people defending him against the negative comment thatās upset him, etc. also, Cola is ashamed of Flash and itās where the hardest struggle of his entire life was born, but Migum doesnāt have that baggage attached to flash and to him itās where he met his best friends and made a lot of memories.
Itās not like thatās his permanent state of being or that heās a complete basket case whoās constantly worrying about what everyoneās thinking or anything, but that does weigh on him, and in moments like that where Peridot were about to disband and he was back in a triggering place, these kinds of insecurities pollute the narrative.
But tl;dr is Cola thinks the sky is falling when it rains, and the only privilege Migum has that Cola doesnāt is that he doesnāt care what people think. Also thank you so much reading <3
WHILE fans have been waiting eagerly for news of music from the newly-solo Morning since his less-than-amicable departure from Glorydaze last year, it seems he'd rather look towards new ventures. Earlier today, rumours spread that the singer, born Ahn Migum, had purchased an Itaewon nightclub; soon followed by documented proof. Idols dabbling in real-estate is nothing new, but the building in question is what's raising eyebrows. The club, which by all accounts has cycled through several names and owners in the past five years or so, was best known in the early 2010s as FLASH, and was infamous for losing it's liscence and closing it's doors in 2015, having been the backdrop to Ahn's very own underage drinking scandal. [EXCERPT FROM ONLINE TABLOID, PUBLISHED MAY 2023]
STARRING: Cory Oh. FEATURING: Ahn Migum. WORD COUNT: 1k. CW: Vague allusions to substance abuse issues. SUMMARY: What's so bad about Pure Heroine?
Even though itās not a real statue, it makes Cory uncomfortable. He cranes his neck as he stares up at his own face, about two feet higher than his own and devoid of colour. Itās only painted to look like marble, but someone had still been paid to etch his face into something, and whenever he imagines the brief that RNN must have sent out, a shiver goes down his back. Heād felt like this when heād seen it in the video heād done for his song with the others, but it feels even worse to be confronted with it in the wild. He wants to tear it down and smash its head and proclaim, loudly enough for all of Itaewon to hear, that he doesnāt think heās important.
It doesnāt surprise him that Migum kept his own, and itās only slightly less of a shock that heād kept Cory, Paris and Mimiās. What he canāt wrap his head around is where.
āWhat was that lyric again?ā Cory asks, as he gazes upon the ridiculous āstoneā idols. You can tell who theyāre supposed to be, at least. Theyāre well made; not to mention impressive in stature for as much as they were mostly styrofoam.
āYouāre so fucking predictable,ā Migum scoffs. āI literally said, when Cola sees this heās gonna quote Lorde.ā
āDoesnāt it feel a little pig-headed to erect statues of ourselves in a nightclub?ā Cory bats back. Migum quirks the eyebrow that isnāt pierced, which Cory thinks is weird because heād think heād be more aware of the other one.
āWell, nobodyās ever accused me of modesty before, soā¦ā He offers a shrug and a grin. āBesides, remember back in the day they had a big oil painting of L.O.V hung up behind the DJ booth? L.O.V never even played here. We made this place, we deserve it. And nobody erected them, theyāre just, yāknow⦠Ones we had.ā
Cory doesnāt really have a response for that other than that he thinks the fact that L.O.V had never stepped foot in Flash was the only reason that that painting was acceptable. Fortunately, Migum doesnāt wait for a response and sets off down the stairs into the empty nightclub, leaving Cory once more to gaze at the four statues lining the back of the front room. One lit in blue, one in purple, then pink, and red. Itās not just the idea of statues that doesnāt sit well with him. There are only four of them.
BAD NEWS for your one mutual who only seems to post about nugus - in what seemed to be an inevitability (to the three people who knew about them,) the ragtag group of teenagers that were once 'known' as the Flash Kids have made headlines today; not for any musical accomplishments, of course, but for being caught drinking underage together, at the nightclub Flash, where they performed a bunch last summer and made a humble name for themselves. Even at the time, some people questioned the legality of the five acts performing at a nightclub in Itaewon, as all of them were born in 1996 or '97, making them around 16/17 at the time, the youngest of them was still only 15 years old per international age. The adults involved handwaved concerns away with vague promises of chaperones and seperate waiting rooms, and that was that until yesterday evening, when several months worth of posts were uncovered from a private instagram account named 28lilymon. The way you write emotions is so real, the tension between Cory and Woosung felt like something I could actually hear and see in a room... Your dialogue is so sharp and honest, like, every line carries weight without trying too hard. I just got around to really reading it (finally got some free time and got to read fic pieces again lols), but this piece really stands out to me and I have a feeling that it's gonna stay with me. You told such a messy, raw, and tender story with so much clarity and heart, I can't wait to read more of your pieces in the future! (Sorry if my wording is off, English is not my native language and I'm not used to give my feedback like this lol)
Hey, first of all, sorry that this has sat in the ask box for a couple of days now, I wanted to wait until I could sit down and give a proper, not rushed response to you!
First of all, thank you!!! Thank you for taking the time to send me such a nice message, it really made my day to read this! I read and reread my own writing so often that I usually really doubt that I'm getting everything across properly so it's really good to know that the emotions and stuff are coming through and also that it was clear! i can't wait to write more of Cory's story now, so thank you for reading and for the encouragement! Love you š«°
PS: don't worry the way you worded it made perfect sense! i wouldn't have known you weren't a native speaker had you not mentioned it!
STARRING: Cory Oh. FEATURING: Jung Woosung WORD COUNT: 4k. CW: discussion of the death of a teenager/sibling/son. large amounts of debt. SUMMARY: just a quick favour.
29.07.2021. āYou look just like Brooklyn.āĀ
Cory blurts it out before heās even processed the reality of who heās looking at. He stares at the man opposite him; a tempest of emotion raging in his chest, and fifty thousand unfinished thoughts in his head.Ā
He never thought heād meet Jung Woosung. The name alone was strange to him. Heād never been told it aloud, only ever read it from his birth certificate. Heād never seen a photo, never known this face and yet it sits before him. Middle aged and wrinkled but underneath that, Cory sees so clearly the same big round eyes and the same lips that tug leftward and up in a smirk that looks mischievous even when itās not, the same face thatās supposed to be two years younger than him and stealing his clothes.Ā
āYeah.ā Woosung says. āWhen he was on TV a few years ago, it was like watching my younger self. Fucking crazy. Except, I couldnāt sing and dance like him. Youāre all Karina, though.ā
And Cory just nods. Heād always been a double of his mother, itās all he ever heard growing up. The resemblance didnāt make it to his personality, though. That was every part Seweryn Osada. And thatās when Cory, again, looks at Jung Woosung, and itās all so strange. This is the man who fathered him, though there was nothing of him in Cory.Ā
āItās insane, Iād heard some of your songs. I've seen your videos and stuff.ā Woosung says. āI didnāt even realize you were my kid. Not until I caught an episode of that show your brother was on and they said Brooklyn Oh.ā
Cory scratches behind his ear. āYeah.ā he says, smiling half heartedly. āMan, I guess stage names give a little more privacy than youād think.ā And he doesnāt ask Woosung why it took him a couple years after IDOL:IZE aired to finally reach out. It would be uncomfortable, and Cory hated uncomfortable situations. If anything, heās just glad he reached out to him, and not Brooklyn.Ā
Cory had never cared about his birth father. He had accepted Seweryn as a dad, albeit an extremely flawed one, way before he was making memories he would be able to keep. Brooklyn, on the other hand, had tortured himself about this for his whole life. Karina was still pregnant with Brooklyn when Woosung left. He had been born abandoned, and that had lived in his spirit forever, whether he could truly identify it or not.Ā
āItās just so crazy to think my kids are these big celebrities.ā Woosung says, and thereās pride in his smile that Cory resents. For all the irreparable ways Seweryn and Karina had screwed their children up, they were the only people Cory wanted to receive a smile of parental pride from. Coryās their kid. This man waited two decades to google his name. āI couldnāt find anything about Adam. I guess he didnāt go looking for the limelight like you guys. Whatās he up to? He must be, what, mid twenties by now?ā
FLASH is a nightclub located on 'Homo Hill' in ITAEWON, SEOUL. The club opened in 2009, quickly becoming a popular destination among tourists and expats for playing a large amount of k-pop alongside western pop/dance music. To drum up business in the early 2010s, FLASH also began hosting live music nights, earning a reputation for closely following online music trends and booking rising independent artists and underground rappers; making it seem a little less tacky amongst locals. Amongst the most notable artists to play at FLASH were COLA, MORNING, PARIS LIM, MIMI and JE T'AIME; all of whom would later debut as idols. The five would all first become infamous through their frequent performances at the club in the summer 2013, when, unlike any other act to perform at the club, they were all between the ages of 15-17. As they built their names among the underground scene, they'd also build something of a shared fanbase online, frequently appearing on one another's social medias, collaborating, and promoting eachother's work.
Due to the nature of the venue, as well as it's location, some began to question if it was appropriate for underage teenagers to be so frequently performing in a nightclub as their online presence grew. MIMI and MORNING had already been signed as trainees before performing at the club, and their management were able to ease some of this concern by claiming that the artists were accompanied by chaperones and only present in the club for the duration of their set. However, the real reason that FLASH was never held to any real scrutiny was simply because of the sheer obscurity of these artists in the grand scheme of things. As each of the FLASH kids were scooped up by labels and debuted one-by-one, the unofficial crew naturally grew apart; though all seemingly remain friendly and in-contact but JE T'AIME. FLASH would have been little but an interesting tidbit on their K-PROFILES pages were it not for what happened in 2015.
SUMMARY 㠤㠤. . .㠤㠤PRETTY EVERLASTING is the debut studio album by COLA, marking his first solo release following his addition to the boy group PERIDOT in 2014, as well as his first music release to have been professionally produced and recorded. Work began on PRETTY EVERLASTING as soon as PERIDOT signed with record label RNN ENTERTAINMENT in early 2015, and it was released on September 25th, 2015, COLA's eighteenth birthday, alongside a music video for the title track TRUTH OR DARE. PRETTY EVERLASTING dropped just a month after the group's first release under the label, with preparations having began as soon as PERIDOT signed their contracts; COLA was working on both projects at once. Though it would not be long before their first full-length record would be released, scheduling meant that COLA had a full album under his belt as a soloist before PERIDOT had released one as a group, sparking some controversy amongst fans and exacerbating the public opion that COLA was subject to favoritism within PERIDOT and/or was benefitting from nepotism due to the position of his step-father, SEWERYN OSADA as an internationaly recognised musician.
The album's title is a mistranslation of bellis perennis, the latin name for the common daisy. As bellis may come from bellus, or pretty, and perennis could be translated as everlasting, COLA chose PRETTY EVERLASTING as the title after misunderstanding it to be an oxymoron, as in 'kind of everlasting.' By the album's release he had realised it just meant that the common daisy was both pretty and perennial; "So no oxy, I'm just a moron. But I like the title, so I kept it. I still think it'd be funny to say that something is only sorta everlasting."
In spite of the critical reception getting fans' hopes up, neither PRETTY EVERLASTING nor it's title track TRUTH OR DARE recieved any music show wins or award show nominations.
TITLE TRACK 㠤㠤. . .㠤㠤PRETTY EVERLASTING was released in conjunction with it's title track, TRUTH OR DARE, and an accompanying music video - this would be the only single to be officially promoted; special single ė¹ķė¹ķ (Stumbling) was released alongside a music video in early October, though both were banned from broadcast on account of suggestive content. TRUTH OR DARE is a funk-influenced k-pop song, penned by COLA and SHIGEKI KOUSHIRO and produced by the latter. The tracksā lyrics make several references to COLAās public image, poking fun at the gossip surrounding him at the time regarding his attitude, sexuality, and whether or not he deserved to be an idol. Though the messaging of the track essentially boils down to āas much as everyone discusses me, they donāt actually know me,ā it received some backlash for what was seen as an immature and petty response to criticism. Though ostensibly somewhat raw and honest in itās presentation, the lyrics of the song are vague and unspecific ("the way I smile, the way I talk, the way I walk, itās all a littleā¦ā) The track notably excludes any mention of alcohol or anything otherwise related to the incident of 2015, which to some was taken as a cop out and to others an effort to diminish/distract from actual scandals.
ORIGINAL POST:Ā here
I wish they'd just let him out his contract...
Just from my POV as a Peridot stan but not a Cola bias, ever since Richer Than God had all those tracks banned Cola has seemed really fed up with the industry. That really broke his spirit which heās been open about but honestly I donāt think he ever got over it, and he was so heartbroken at the goodbye concert I donāt believe he really wanted Peridot to end but the others did. Im not saying that RNN arenāt holding him back just that maybe we do need to give him some time to process as fans.
We need to boycott the new girls or something this is getting ridiculous. ā³ youāre going to boycott a girl group cause a man wasnāt wished a happy birthday? you guys are genuinely losing it 㠤ⳠYeah, we are losing it. Itās not about his birthday! When Peridot disbanded, RNN told us that Cola would stay under the label and promote as a soloist. In two years the only updates on him weāve gotten have been for his 26th and 27th birthday, this time they skipped even that. We just want to know whatās going on!
Heās probably just off getting drunk somewhere.
People who donāt understand why weāre mad donāt get that Cola has always made a big deal out of his birthday. Like albums would be lined up to drop on that day, many years heās put on fan events or even whole ass concerts just to celebrate his birthday so to get nothing is like a slap in the face. If RNN are this done with him then why did they resign him? ā³ itās very obvious that Cola is stuck there because of Chapel. He runs a subsidiary company under RNN so itās not like the other Peridot members who were only linked to the label through their idol contracts. 㠤ⳠEveryone knows that but it doesnāt make anyone feel any better because it was Ong Jiseok himself who pitched the idea of Cola establishing his own label for his solo stuff. If youāve seen how heās been with Cola in the past then you canāt blame anyone for thinking his intentions there werenāt exactly pure. 㠤ⳠBut if Colaās not promoting then what work is being done at Chapel to justify him staying for that? Heās the only person signed there I mean⦠㠤㠤ⳠItās not that simple because Chapel also has employees. They canāt just dissolve it like itās nothing without messing with peoples livelihood.
Judging by Kiraās instagram stories the new girl group rehearse in the Chapel building as well as the main RNN one (more often tbh). I donāt follow the other rumoured girls but Kiki seems to be at the Chapel building pretty often. Is there any chance Colaās actually involved in their debut and heās just been busy with that? ā³ Maybe cause Cola has written/produced for a lot of girl groups in the past but not since the disbandment so itās more likely that theyāre there to work with Koushiro.
Heās already twenty-eight? Thatās crazy. ā³ heās been working for twelve years what fucking age did you expect him to be? 㠤ⳠFound the 29 year old omfg⦠thereās nothing wrong with being 28 im just shocked cause I still always think of him as a little kid
So funny that someone who pushes an image of being soft-spoken and polite has such noisy fans who always complain
Colas been through a lot you guys⦠maybe he just wants a break? He worked nonstop from 15 to 25 I donāt think that two years of chilling has to be a bad thing
I feel like men should only celebrate their milestone birthdays anyway who gives a fuck if a man turns twenty-eight
The reason weāre mad is not because his birthday is some national holiday we want the whole country to celebrate. Itās that RNN have stopped doing even the bare minimum for Cola now and act like heās not part of their roster & yet they wonāt let him go out on his own. ā³ See everyoneās saying they wonāt āletā him but the other side that weāre not acknowledging is that we havenāt heard from Cola himself either. For all we know he just doesnāt want to work itās not like he was employee of the year in Peridot he took about twelve hiatuses a year. If anything heās being just as disrespectful to his fans cause how hard would it be to post an insta story and say heās taking a break? Letās not even get started on the people paying to subscribe to him on weverse and heās not even posting there.
Who cares about his birthday. Even when he disappears we all have to keep fucking reading about him. Whenās he going to drink himself to death?

RECOVERED MEDIA: In a set of magazine interviews held with the eleven winners of the survival show IDOL:IZE in 2017, BROOKLYN OH almost manages to somewhat gracefully navigate his first ambush of tough questions; but forgets that PERIDOT fans can't take a joke.
STARRING: Shigeki Koushiro. FEATURING: Ahn Hayana, Ong Jiseok, members of SF NATION ('13 Lineup) WORD COUNT: 2k. CW: Teenage pregnancy, death threats, misogyny on the part of RNN. SUMMARY: It's time to grow up.
01.04.2013 āLook, Iām not here to ask you for anything.ā Hayana says. Her head is tucked, fists curled in her lap. She hasnāt looked Koushiro in the eye since he opened the door. He knew what she was going to say before she said it. Not one inch of him wanted to be true, heād been desperate not to believe his anxieties, but heād known.
Even though itās rare for him to be in South Korea, and heās missed her a lot, thereās only one reason Hayana would risk being seen visiting to his hotel room. Only one reason sheād want to talk to him again.
She sits in the corner of the bed, ankles crossed, drowning in a hoodie that he knows belongs to her brother. It makes her look so small. Sheās a child. Theyāre children. Heād forgotten that around the time everyone else had.Ā
STARRING: Cory Oh. FEATURING: Shigeki Koushiro, Yoon Jumin, Brooklyn Oh, Shen Jianliang. WORD COUNT: 6k. CW: Substance abuse (more the effects of it on friends/family over any depictions of it; vague scene including an overdose, somewhat frequent thoughts of relapsing.) Cory quite flippantly brings self-injury up in manipulative ways. Discussion of the loss of a sibling/death of a teenager. I don't think it needs any more warnings but let me know if I'm forgetting something! SUMMARY: The ballad of Cory and Koushiro (Part One)
11.06.2015. Cory spins himself aimlessly in his desk chair, clicking his tongue. Koushiro canāt hear him, his noise-canceling headphones pulled over his hoodie like an asshole. Heād been an asshole for the whole week that theyād been working on Coryās solo record, and Cory was long past growing weary of it.Ā
He directs his eyes lazily towards Koushiro, whoās eyes are fixated solely on the monitor before him. Cory hates the song that theyāre working on. Itās well-made, if heās to be objective about it - Koushiro definitely has skill. But it sounds a lot like a Peridot song. Both the other tracks that had been played for Cory had the same problem. He doesnāt like the idea of debuting solo so quickly, only for the record to carry no differentiation from his group. People were already lobbing the word ānepotismā at him with great joy, and the whole endeavour was being set up to prove that he is indeed receiving preferential treatment.Ā
Thatās input that heād normally give early on, but Koushiro had given him no opportunity- barking orders at him at the recording booth and sealing him out of the process entirely otherwise. Cory has spent much of their sessions deaf to all progress, sitting by Koushiroās side and waiting obediently for a chance to listen to his own song.
Koushiro seems to notice Coryās gaze, because his eyes flicker away from the monitor to meet him. Theyāre lit up in the blue light, sparkling out from a thick brush of black hair, questioning. Cory shuffles in his chair; his foot is tucked onto the cushion, chin propped on knee until it twitches. He leans back, foot sliding down onto the ground again, and coughs.Ā
āWhatās up?ā Koushiro asks, blankly. He pulls his headphones down onto his neck. Away from their vacuum to his skull, the beat continues to blast for a few more bars. It sounds awful; far too close to EDM to be anything that Cory would willingly listen to. With a clatter of Koushiroās space bar, it halts.Ā
PERIDOT were a south korean boygroup, active between 2014 - 2023. Peridot made their debut in the summer of 2014; originally signed to the now defunct STATIC MEDIA, the group would make little to no noise until the following year, when they'd move to RNN ENTERTAINMENT after STATIC declared bankruptcy. Backed by a far more competent (and financially stable) label, PERIDOT would go on to enjoy a steady career as a mid-tier group - popular enough to be nominated for awards but not win them, enough to justify giving America a shot but not to really succeed.
Still, PERIDOT amassed a loyal following and became known for their energetic, experimental sound and summertime comebacks. In spite of some scandal and the line-up looking shaky at times; PERIDOT promoted consistently and comfortably until 2020. Over the years, as certain members became more popular than others, solo careers had blossomed one by one. Soon it was announced that the members would spend the 'foreseeable future' focusing on their individual paths, and inevitably, PERIDOT wrapped up one last comeback and disbanded in 2023, after fulfilling their contract with RNN ENTERTAINMENT.
Originally an underground hip-hop label, STATIC began forming plans for their first idol boy group in 2011, hoping to jump on the wave of idol group debuts in light of financial difficulties at the label. The group would be built around it's main rapper and leader, at-the-time underground rapper Cho SANHAE, who was both the biggest name under the label and a total nobody to the average person. Jeon KYUNGGU and Yoon JUMIN were amongst the first batch of boys to pass STATIC MEDIA's first ever public audition, held in 2012. Among seven boys, only the three of them would still be training at STATIC by the time they were joined by Munemori MADOKA and Shen Jianliang (soon to be known as YARA.) Having joined the company through a global online audition in 2013, the pair were intended to close out the lineup, and the group that should have been PERIDOT spent the next year preparing for debut.
In August 2013, SANHAE released a collaboration with COLA; a teenage amatuer artist with a small online following. Although COLA had garnered some attention through his first song, TBH, it had mostly been mocking and negative - the seemingly random collaboration led to rumours that STATIC MEDIA may be interested in signing COLA. At the end of the summer, just days after his sixteenth birthday, it was announced that COLA would be signing to the label, not as an artist, but as an idol trainee. COLA was added to the lineup of PERIDOT just months before the group's debut, after the five-member lineup had already been made public.
CORY OH / OH CHEOLSU was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 25th, 1997. He is the second of three sons to KARINA OH, CEO of EOS, an upscale instrument brand, and JUNG WOOSUNG, a stockbroker with whom he has no relationship. Since he was three years old, CORY's mother has been married to SEWERYN OSADA, frontman of the American heavy metal band BAPHOMET. CORY's experience in performing began at a young age, having trained in gymnastics and acrobatics since his early childhood. When CORY was fifteen years old, his family moved to Seoul, South Korea, as KARINA was set to inherit EOS from her father. There, CORY attended a private international school, where he befriended classmate JT EUN. The two would make music together which CORY would post on YouTube, under the pseudonym COLA. One of these songs, titled TBH, accidentally went viral, catapulting CORY into unwanted notoriety within the Korean underground hip-hop scene. Despite his reservations, CORY pursued his newfound music career by performing at the club FLASH, where he and his friends began to garner social media attention. This caught the attention of STC MEDIA, who scouted CORY at sixteen years old, adding him to the pre-debut lineup of idol group PERIDOT. Since making his debut with PERIDOT in 2014, COLA's idol career has been rife with setbacks, sabotages and controversies. He has publicly struggled to handle this strife and as such took three hiatuses throughout PERIDOT's eight years of activity; earning him a reputation as lazy and/or lacking the mental fortitude to work as an idol. Regardless, through his work with PERIDOT and his solo records, CORY has scratched and clawed his mark on the Korean music industry over the past ten years, evolving from a misbehaving teen idol into a sought-after record producer, a reasonably-respected actor and the founder and creative director of the subsidiary label CHAPEL RECORDS.

STARRING: Cory Oh. FEATURING: Karina Oh, Seweryn Osada, Brooklyn Oh, JT Eun. WORD COUNT: 1k. CW: death of a teenager/sibling ("off-screen"), parental neglect. SUMMARY: Here lies Cory, and long live COLA. (pieces of time, from 2010 - 2013.)
Cory sits in the doorway, legs outstretched into the sun outside. Thin and lanky, the Caribbean sun leaves freckles behind and discolours the nasty bruise he'd gotten on his knee from tumbling off of the balance beam. Christmas time in one of the Oh family's holiday homes has never felt so off. Someone is missing.
Further out in the yard, there's a rare moment of tenderness as Brooklyn learns how to ride his new bike. Seweryn Osada pushes him around sans-training-wheels as Karina Oh watches with a silent, faraway look on her face. She's beautiful like a film actress and her red lips betray her cold glamour with a smile as Seweryn lets go and Brooklyn takes his first ever un-aided cycle around the grass. Cory takes a sip of his Coca-Cola, ignoring the fact that it's gone flat as he just watches.
Nobody looks back at him.
