lennon’s lip curved upward in a smile as he traced circles on her hands but when he spoke she stopped, and for a moment she didn’t say anything she just looked at him and pulled her hands away from his. “test results? what kind of test results? like you may have gotten a girl knocked up or like you may have gotten some type of disease because both of those things should be preventable with condoms!” she knew she was starting to ramble. “what the fuck dylan!” she knew he was allowed to sleep with other girls, not that she liked the thought of that, and especially not when fucking other girls leads to a conversation, an argument really, like this.

sighing deeply, dylan mentally kicked himself for chasing after her in the first place. swooping back his hair with one hand and resting the other on lennon’s hip, he spoke softly, “i should know by tomorrow. don’t get like that, len.” 

Sybil scoffed towards the offer of mischief, racking her brain for the last time she’d heard that question posed genuinely. “So long as it doesn’t involve something lame like toothpastes in Oreos or fart cushions I could be down.” The girl shrugged, nudging her now partner in crime. “What did you have in mind? Who’s our target?”

dylan smirked, “well, we can prank whoever is dumb enough to get pranked -- so jot that down.” he himself racked his brain mulling over different ideas of what would be a worthy prank. “no, no whoopee cushions... how about a mind game? like, we can make someone think they went crazy by acting like we can’t hear them or something.”

lennon smiled when he kissed her back, but as he pulled away she pouted slightly. “why not?” she asked quietly, looking down at their hands, the pout still evident on her face. 

taking a deep breath, dylan struggled to meet her eyes. “basically, i need to wait a couple more days.” dylan traced circles lightly into the tops of her knuckles. “waiting on some test results... len.” looking up at her, he finally was able to spit it out. 

“music that’s too loud to hear each other, booze that you blow too much money on, finding a drunken hookup. don’t you ever get tired of doing the same old thing all the time?” bella challenged, though a triumphant smile took over her features when dylan FINALLY caved and held out a hand for her. “alright, let’s go! it’s the perfect time to go, no traffic. we should be able to make it in twenty!” she beamed, tugging enthusiastically at his hand to drag him towards the elevator. 

esther had been working at the flower shop all day, and although she loved her job, she was particularly tired that day. surprisingly, even though it was a saturday, the shop had been pretty empty all day. for this reason, the brunette was beginning to doze off, leaned over on the front counter as her eyes were almost completely shut.

once she heard a sudden THUD of two customers colliding, she exclaimed loudly, now waking up fully and standing up straight. “oh, goodness, did any vases break?!” she asked with anxiousness trailing throughout her voice. once she realized who it was, though, she had suddenly calmed down a bit, a small smile now appearing on her face. “oh, it’s you. what brings you here?” she asked with genuine curiosity.

as dylan collected himself and picked up his phone from the linoleum floor of the shop, he inspected it thoroughly. “yeah, i don’t think the vases.. vauses... were effected.” he smiled and as he did so his eyes almost disappeared. dylan’s low lids always gave him away in public whenever he decided to get stoned.  "yes! it is me!” he exclaimed while sauntering over to the counter. “all my dahlia’s fuckin’ died, bro,” dylan let out in a defeated tone. looking around the flowers on display at the counter, he gently touched the petal of a white lily. “you got any recommendations, neighbor?” he asked with a bright smile.

lennon just chewed her bottom lip as she waited for an answer, and when he finally confirmed her theory she laughed. “you’re an idiot.” she teased, shaking her head slightly then reaching up and cupping his face with both hands. “can you please just come back downstairs with me?” she murmured, before going up on her toes to kiss him softly.

dylan fell into the kiss, of course. her lips were softer than he remembered, but he pulled away none the less. “i can’t come over, though.” he muttered as he took her hands and held them in his own.  

“a bar?” bella repeated, arching an eyebrow in a disdainful kind of disbelief. “how predictable do you think i am? where’s the fun in that?” of course dylan WOULD think she was doing something as boring as taking him out to a bar, of all places. “you really should get it into your head right now that i’m not that kind of girl. now, come on!”

it had been a long,  long  week for dylan. work had been piling up at the office and he regretted becoming to proficient with numbers to the point that he made it his mode of living. as he waltz into his apartment from the cruel world, he spotted the grinder he and laney shared with some rolling papers right beside it. “shit, me too, then.” he said to himself before running to change out of his suit and tie and into an old t-shirt from his sigma chi days and some athletic shorts. plopping himself down, he began to roll up and soon he wasn’t even thinking about his shitty day. his focus meandered from thought to thought until eventually, he noticed the wilting dahlia’s in the centerpiece on the coffee table. “fuck,” he mumbled, but really he was rather excited for his upcoming visit to the flower shop. 

high as a kite, dylan grabbed his wallet and car keys and drove down the flowershop where esther worked. she always was so helpful when it came to dylan’s specific flower related needs. always hip to what’s in season, what would fit an occaision best, and how to create the perfect aroma for the room, esther was his go to -- and had been ever since nate told him about the place. walking into the shop, not bothering to put some eye drops in his red eyes, he was greeted by an array of colorful flowers. he went around admiring each of them and taking his time to smell the roses until he bumped into something. “oof!” he practically yelped before realizing her bumped into a person.

“do you need to have a reason for everything?” bella’s eyebrow quirks the slightest fraction, a smile that’s almost mischievous tugging at the corner of her lips as she reaches forward and grabs dylan’s hand in what’s intended to be a gesture both convincing and reassuring. “just trust me! we’re going somewhere fun, i promise.”
