WILD COLORS;

alice was uncharacteristically late for work, prompted by an unforseen visit to the healer’s for a nasty head cold that wouldn’t seem to go away. now fully CURED and ready to conquer a full day of work, alice was almost there when she ran into lilianne in the corridor. “i’m actually headed there now ! i can take you there if you want ?” the blonde chirped, crossing her arms behind her back as her lips curled into a cordial smile. 

        “That is certainly some turn around,” Arthur said, a puzzled look on his face. Finding the office of misused muggle artefacts was a task on its own, so they rarely ever had visitors. Much less… Confused visitors. And especially not visitors who were also the ex-girlfriend of his current best friend. He gave her a slightly guarded look, thinking that this was all a little bit… Too convenient. “Are you looking for Alastor?” he finally asked, giving her a long, evaluating look. “He’s not on this floor.”

Alastor left the eyewitnesses with a younger auror after getting just as much information as the moment and setting could allow for. They were close, so close he could feel it already - the war was all consuming but sometimes a different kind of darkness shone through, the casual criminals, those he’d devote exhaustion and bitter coffee to before masked murderers following a bigoted god-like war became the norm. It felt like a rather enjoyable relief. ’Moody’, another auror called out, breaking his silent thinking, ‘got the hit.’ Whenever a case seemed close enough to the HUNT, there came a hit wizard, jumping eagerly into work. The man turned around, eyes still stuck to the place where a store had once stood, now completely burned and broken, ransacked, but eventually left it, landing his gaze on the auror and the hit witch. A dry gulp. She was back. He was well aware, of course - Alastor always seemed to know more than the walls of the Ministry - but seeing her right in front of him was a harsh realisation. ’This is Lilianne-’ The auror began presentations, but Moody interrupted him. “We know each other.” Fuck. She was back.

        Lilianne had been dreading this moment. She didn’t want to come back to England--- her family was here of course, but she knew for herself, it was safer to stay away. However, with everything that was happening in England, Lili’s boss demanded that she head back to the Ministry and help out there. It was all hands on deck and she had no room to protest. She followed the young auror as he led her over to the lead of the investigation. She wasn’t surprised that it was him. He had put his work above everything. Everything. As her eyes fell on his face, slightly worn and aged since she last seen him (and she was a bit smug about it), her jaw set and her back straightened. She weaved her fingers together to keep herself from leaping forward and tearing his eyes out. “Better run along,” she told the Auror. “A third world war is about to commence.”

         Every time Lili had opened her eyes these days, there was always something new. Something bad. The summer of ‘94 was the beginning of the end. Earlier that school year, her niece had been selected to participate in the triwizard tournament. It had been years since the last tournament and a Delacour was one of the selected from the many that had put their name in the cup. As the proud aunt that she was, Lili put aside all her obligations for that summer to make sure she was there for the final task. Whether the outcome, she was going to be there cheering the loudest among the students and the family. 

           she hasn’t seen her sister in weeks, but it feels like years. a goddamn eternity. like it always does when they are apart, it’s like a piece of her is missing. so sitting opposite her at the kitchen table in her small cottage feels like a BLESSING, even though they’re just drinking coffee and discussing mundane, normal family stuff. things are as they should be, at last. “soooo. are you still running away from him ?” she asks, her words spoken quickly and fluently in french. she gives her sister a small smile. “or are you finally ready to come home? you know, some people around here miss you. just a little bit.”
