We found this set back quite a bit from the road. How long it has sat we don’t really know; only that it’s been here for quite some time. • Arthur Guptill’s Rendering in Pen and Ink was immensely helpful for guiding the best way to approach the inking. Really tried to put his techniques into practice. It’s strange because the pencil sketch up to this point felt almost like an incomplete drawing and it really needed the ink to feel done. This one is shocked by what just happened. Shocked I tell you! It got booped right on the snooter. • Exploring drawings with pencils recently and usually a subject I save for my other page. But the more penciling I do, the more I feel there’s something to learn that’s been missing with my inks. The ink still helps with finding the darker outlines and I think helps support the pencil rendering of the fur. Charcoal pencil for the white line. Sometimes I will make things but need a story to go with it. Anyone feeling like putting down some prose? • Inked digitally with @procreate which is getting easier to use but I’m still wrestling with keeping an organic feel the the lines. That can happen on paper too: the pencil work is better and more gestural. Inking can stiffen the work. Playing with the studio pen setting seems to help and setting the bush size does too. Inktober Day 11! Disgusting💀 • Putting these pens to work on some thicker marker paper this time and they did the job. Thanks to Winsor & Newton @winsorandnewton for the gifted art supplies. • This piece was a challenge. Fulfilling the prompt with an idea that was I was satisfied with for an @inktober drawing saw some starts and stops. Drawing the rib cage is a great challenge though and doing the research on the anatomy was a fun part of the work. Got a chance to test drive the fineliners for this piece and they did a pretty good job overall with the art. • Fresh pens are always a little squirrelly for me to use.
