first off friend — thank you for reading it ! thorin means so much to me, and that final scene in BOTFA really hit home how much he changes. he is a warrior, leader, and king. not a cowardly fool tainted with sickness. thorin gets stereotyped into the category of ‘greedy bastard’ a lot and there’s so much more to him ?? ah.anyway, i don’t know. maybe. usually i get inspired by things or the tags piss me off ( for the aforementioned reasons. you know. stereotyping. ) just keep a look out, dear friend!

OKAY. so this post got me really emotional. i dunno. it makes me smile so much because YES ! that is thorin oakenshield ! richard does a great interpretation and, god, i am so glad he was casted to play him. but what he says is incredibly important. thorin dies to save his people. thorin dies to save his people. no, he was not 'that guy who went mad'. no, he wasn't 'that guy who hates elves'. he was the KING of erebor. he was the leader, the saviour, of his people. he overcame DRAGON SICKNESS because his people were more important. thorin determines, then and there, that his life is meaningless if that of his kin were killed because of his selfishness. this was his last choice. his last redemption. he, thorin oakenshield, king under the mountain, gave his life so the others may live in peace. this was his goodbye. this was his 'im sorry'. this was the true thorin oakenshield. and he is remembered as such.
