Laurent :

‘Kyra’ means ‘enthroned’ in Greek. ‘Enthroned’ means to make someone a king/queen or to value something very highly

In kings rising when nikandros is warning damen about laurent (and Damen’s preference for blonds), he mentions a girl from the village named kyra to which damen asks him “which girl from the village was kyra?” And nikandros tells him “they all were”

So it’s likely that their names weren’t all literally ‘kyra’ but that kyra is rather the 'name’ nikandros uses to describe the common citizens damen slept with over the years.

So why does nikandros call them all Kyra? Let’s go back to Kyra meaning 'enthroned’ and the definitions of 'enthroned’ above. First, we can assume that the women damen sleeps with are 'making him a king’ because akielons love their promiscuous, virile prince, and by sleeping with him, the women are furthering that view of him.

But I think the second definition of 'enthroned’ is probably more likely in the context of this conversation with nikandros - the name 'kyra’ is being used ironically to highlight the warning nikandros is giving damen. These women are NOT of high value to damen at all, so they are actually the opposite of 'Kyra’ or 'enthroned’ in that sense. nikandros is probably using the term 'kyra’ to chastise damen for his blindness to danger (laurent) because of the way laurent looks (blond - just like 'Kyra from the village’ aka all the women from the village). He is jabbing at Damen’s past views of sex/love/sexual value with the ironic use of 'kyra’ to warn damen about what he is doing with laurent. And he’s also reminding us of what he thinks about Damen’s affection for laurent - that it is purely physical as laurent is physically Damen’s archetypal lover

Like Dan, her dream is to become a coach just like Waymack- she could have first gone pro and shown the world how girls are just as capable of girls in this sport and then knock down the wall of coachdom with a “I was a US Court athlete alongside my husband and Captiain of my pro team for years, you think you can coach this team better? Don’t kid yourself” AND she’d get an endorsement from Kevin and Thea and them backing her up. She wouldn’t accept their offer to help though, because she’d want to get it on her own, but she’d know they believed in her and that she could do it. And eventually those dingbats would believe in her too

She could have been, even more than she was, and Inspiration to underprivileged youth living in terrible living situations. She and Andrew could have even started some kind of fund or half way house of sorts with the help of Renee and Waymack

Allison was more than a filthy rich fashion icon who dabbled in sport. She literally disowned her family for it, she’s as crazy about exy as the rest of them. I can’t believe that she would just give it up like that. She’d prove the world you can look like an 11 right after a game and kick ass on court! They’d have those commercials where it’s all “i hear she smells like cinnamon. She hit me in the face with her racket once? I thanked her”

She’d be able to prove that you can work hard, be a mother, be active, AND dress fashionably. She’d make a whole line for working moms, and moms who want to get fit. Because she knows it’s hard to have 2 jobs, children and look great but “there’s no excuse not to take care of yourself and honey that dress looks hideous”

And Renee!! She’d be able host a whole “exy with the stars” thing at foster Homes where she talks to them about life as a pro athlete and helping children see that just because they aren’t with their biological parents doesn’t mean that they are unloved or unwanted. And she’d be able to provide exy supplies and even have Andrew make some appearances

She would even be able to freely discuss her religion in the nonjudgmental Renee way and come at anyone who judged literally anything about anyone else with a “well, forgive me for asking, but why does anything they do concern the likes of you?”

And you know Allision and Renee would just love to mess with the press like “oh? You didn’t know! I’m surprised, it’s not like we are hiding. Are we hiding dear?”

“This is news to me, dear! I guess we should have been more careful”

“Oh sigh, looks like”

Or laugh whenever the media says they’re “really really close friends”
