Strip down or steeing rack

Alex has taken the golf off the road, again, this time to turbo the ABF. We're been working hard over the last few months putting this lump together, manufacturing the exhaust and manifolds and getting everything bolted together. Finally the cars back on the ground and theres just a few minor things to do before she can be fired up this weekend hopefully.

So whilst dropping the subframe I discovered a small hole in it, upon a bit more investigation it turns out it was more of a hole than i first thought. I thought it might be fixable with some plate welded on but since its around where the wishbones attach i think a new sub frame is in order.

Hubs and cross members all cleaned and painted

Driveshafts split down and rebuilt with new boots and all painted.

Engine purchaed so I can now busy myself stripping this 20vt BAM unit ready for dropping into the golf.

Spotted on SWDubs forum - one of the best looking mk2s ive seen for a long time. Bringing back, in part, that 90s vibe!

The weekend saw the removal of my the engine, loom, subframe and front running gear, so now Im left with and empty engine bay.

Good job i did the rear top mounts as the top plate on the drivers side was knackered. So new ones were purchased and now everythings running smooth again

As well as the front I purchased rear top mounts to... Struts off and old compared with new mounts.

Arch surgery time. Making room for the wheels as they scrub like mad at the rear.
