that’s it that’s the post
@tesadoraofphaedra did you finish? what'd you think???
Hi! I loved it?!
I’m very satisfied with Cassie’s “ending” and how the case was solved, it reminded me a lot of other books and was very interesting to see how those stories would be seen from the outside.
I didn’t like/understand why Rob was mentioned that often; when reading the first book I didn’t feel like Cassie was as important to him as he to her… I mean, yes she was there 96% of the book and was without a doubt a very important character and part of his life, but from his side, their friendship didn’t feel as important as it was to her and how she was telling it, which is weird because of course she was excellent and a great character seen through his eyes, but… I’m not sure how to explain it? he had this 180 degree change after That Night and started feeling like a completely different person, I didn't dislike him so much at the beginning, but after that he became such an ass that the whole story between the two has a different flavor, I LOVE seeing both sides though... | Wait, I was doing some googling and the "...I didn't tell anyone. I got the boat to England before dawn one sleety Saturday and was back in my dark flat that night... " part makes things a lot different, I completely missed that line, that would makes a WORLD of a difference on how she saw their relationship... WOW. I may have to reread the books eventually.
The proposal/breaking up at the end was surprisingly satisfying, it felt like a super mature, responsible and thoughtful speech, putting feelings vs practicality/well-being on the balance, and the result was good. Making them both look into their situations and deciding what would work best for their careers and rest of their lives. Wish other stories/characters would sit back and have a thought before making decisions! Though I’m in love with Sam, so I may not be super objective here
And! The case! Them! A very hard and cold reality check for when reading those other stories where the very tangled lines between family/love/friendships are so blurry. It was painful because of course I would have wanted the remaining 3 would stay close and help each other heal, but it was so real when each took their own path and didn't look back... When Rafe asks Abbie "Who...?" gut wrenching! growing up and out of that kind of relationship can be brutal. And again, painful for everyone involved, Justin realising that He did That, Rafe losing both, Abbie and Daniel, all 4 really losing Lexie and not really knowing it, the secret coming out... and Cassie haing feelings for all of them even when she shouldn't have because she wanted so bad to belong. It was a lot, it was painful, it was delicious!
I'm looking forward to watching the show and see how they changed things and mashed both stories into one.
And now I'm three chapters away from the ending of Frank's book, and I have conflicting feelings, for once I relate to his family a painful lot, not my direct family but uncles and cousins and family history is hitting WAY close to home, so that's on one side, I feel super close to him. But then there have been a couple of times when I'm not sure who is talking and who are they talking about. I'm listening to the audiobook, so it may be the actor's doing more than the story itself, but over all, I'm in love with Tana's world and her writing.
