1. Twisting the contents of the lawsuit

Korean News: Said that Luhan’s side raised “differential treatment of Korean and Chinese members, poor financial circumstances making it difficult to breathe” as the reason for the lawsuit, and claimed that Luhan expressed in an interview with Korean media that uneven divide of profit was an issue. They even tossed out a 500 million won figure for his exact salary.

Chinese News: A reason for the contract termination is “differential treatment of Korean and Chinese members, deteriorating health under high-pressure work and stress”. This isn’t a classified lawsuit detail, and it never mentioned anything about the issue of income. 

Dissecting the Truth: On the afternoon of October 10th when Korean sites became filled with false information, Korean fans called the reporters involved. The reporters were UNABLE to give an answer as to where they got their information. At 10:15pm on October 13th they began editing the articles to delete the false information - the dishonesty is apparent. Please note that reporters DO NOT have the authority to see the details of legal proceedings in civil cases. Luhan’s law firm also confirmed that they never released the details of the lawsuit. 

Therefore, take a moment to consider the credibility of the journalists whose only source for their information was "heard it from someone". The original article that was edited and had all its false information removed is still being recycled and used by the Korean media. The purpose of this tactic to mislead people is clear.

Korean News: Translated a reason for contract termination as “uneven division of profit”.

Chinese News: A reason for contract termination reported as “uneven division of opportunities”

Dissecting the Truth: Twisting the original words in their translation combined with an exact salary from an unknown source. The intention of this finger-pointing is to paint Luhan as a greedy person who is only after money. Luhan has immense popularity in China, but was always only tied to the group. Aside from the recent movie “Back to 20” (for which the production company APPOINTED Luhan for the role), he has had no individual activities, and SM failed to promote this movie AT ALL during filming. As the visual of the group, he is also the only member who did not participate in any magazine shooting separate from the group issues.

For a popular group that is developing steadily, expanding on members’ individual activities and letting them branch out is ideal. Luhan, widely known to be one of the most popular members, has low exposure that is entirely disproportionate to the amount of attention he receives and the buying power of his fans. That is the reason for claims of the company’s uneven division of opportunities and lack of a reasonable future development plan. It is suspicious that Korean news sites are intentionally misleading people to ignore the fact of his lack of opportunities (and focus on the lie - the issue of profit). 

2. False assumptions regarding his future projects

Korean News: "Luhan strong wishes to act in Zhu Xian as the male lead actor“, "Luhan will immediately begin activities in China", "Many projects are looking for him, Luhan wants to act in a drama".

Chinese News: “Drama Zhu Xian” production company declared that they never contacted Luhan, and the director for this drama isn’t even decided yet, much less the actors and actresses. Other rumors (in Korean articles) are also not backed up by any statements from any entertainment company or news outlet. 

Dissecting the Truth: Luhan has been suffering from psychogenic headaches for a long time, and the reason for this illness goes back to excessive stress and long-term over-exhaustion. The tight schedules of Korean idols cannot provide Luhan with the conditions needed for his recovery, and his health will also prevent him from being able to fully serve the group in their activities. Everyone’s individual conditions are different, there is no standard measure that allows you to compare them. As he cannot adjust to the intense Korean idol factory mode, returning home is a necessity. Currently Luhan is still resting and recovering, and Chinese news have yet to report anything regarding a future agency or future projects. Korean news’ false claims concerning Luhan’s future is directing the discussion for people to question the validity of Luhan’s health problems. The pictures and videos from the recent Beijing concert says it all, there is no need for us to debate this point.

3. Making up sources for statements

Korean News: Uses “Luhan’s side claimed…” “Luhan complained…” “Luhan accused…” “Luhan said in an interview with Korean media…” and even dragging in his family, “Luhan’s parents said in an interview…”

Chinese News: Luhan’s close friend stated clearly on a public platform “Luhan himself, his parents, and his friends have never taken any interviews from foreign media, the alleged statements by Luhan in this article are not true, and I hope Chinese media will not repost these untruthful reports.” Luhan’s parents also refused interviews with Chinese media, and his friend passed on their message for them: they just want their son to be healthy and happy. Since the contract termination, Luhan himself has only said two things - “I’m home”, and “I just wanna all of you to know that I love you all”.

Dissecting the Truth: Luhan has always been keeping low-key and protecting his family. The more he values his family, the more he will be hurt when his family is affected. His way of being has always been honest and straightforward, he doesn’t take the opportunity of this lawsuit to make a louder splash for himself, but quietly waits for the dust to settle. His only two statements were not for himself, but to try to calm the hearts of the fans both in China and overseas. 

He also knows love and knows how to love, he isn’t afraid of directly facing the slander, as long as he can block the ill will away from the people he treasures. (Korean media) Using his most respected and loved parents, lying to his treasured fans and turning them into sharp blades that hurt him  - how can you convince yourself that this is okay? The malicious act of Korean sites pointing their knives at the family behind Luhan really sends chills down one’s spine.

4. Regarding SM’s claims about being surprised and Luhan’s formidable background

SM statement: Luhan suddenly filed for contract termination without any reason, hinting that now that Luhan is popular, he is after his personal gain. This is the same as the image painted by Korean news of Luhan being greedy for profit. They even suspected that Luhan has a “formidable background” behind him.

Dissecting the Truth: First of all, Luhan did not participate in the recording of the 2nd full album at all. How does the company want to explain letting a member be absent for the recording of a full album if there was no reason for it? Clearly, the company knew beforehand. Before the contract termination Luhan discussed with SM extensively about the possibility of a peaceful termination. He is grateful, and sincerely hopes to reduce the damages for both sides to a minimum. Unfortunately the company refused to meet him halfway, and now we have the lawsuit. 

Furthermore, aside from TLP in Thailand which Luhan missed due to health conditions (also confirmed by SM), in his two years since debut Luhan has never missed any group schedule. He co-operated with the company and served the group to the best of his ability. During his personal schedule (movie) he persevered and flew back and forth between cities in order to attend every concert tour stop, fanmeeting, and other group schedules. In his interactions with his fans, he never once gave them a special name, never encouraged fans to only support him, and always put the group before himself. As a member of the group and an artist under SM, he has fully shown his sincere attitude. 

On the other hand, the company is one-sidedly twisting words and making things up, choosing to ignore Luhan’s gestures of peace, refusing to respond sincerely, and coldly avoiding the issue at hand. The difference between the two sides’ attitudes is clear. Who is really the one scheming here - that is something worth thinking about.

5. Spreading slanderous rumors

Korean media’s level of attention towards Chinese media is truly interesting. They even began to circulate rumors of Luhan and actress ZS, and published rumors of the two cohabiting to smear Luhan’s image. This actress’ company and the actress herself have already denied and clarified these rumors. Intentionally spreading untrue rumors about Luhan should alert the public to widen their eyes and critically evaluate the entire situation.
