I think that saying "it's ok to be trans and not transition" is like saying "it's okay to be gay and not pursue gay relationships." like. it's obviously permissible, it is socially normative, it is the expectation placed on all people within society. Honestly, spreading "positivity" about not transitioning isn't even value neutral, I think it's outright transphobic.
Obviously trans people who are unable to transition deserve support and kindness, a trans woman who can't afford HRT or razors to shave deserves to be treated with the dignity of any other woman, but seeing someone in the reblogs of a post like that go "Haha yeah I haven't transitioned because of (fearmongering-invented misinformation about hrt)" makes me think that this has gone a bit too far.
i can totally agree with this but i want to add, i think it also demonstrates a failure to conceptualize transition popularly, since self-identification itself is an act of transition. i've seen far too many ppl act like there is some sort of inherent split between identification+expression and bodily changes, when they are really all social. this can seem irrelevant but i think that this false di/trichotomy can make ppl think that there is less value in one part than the others, or discourage people from seeking out and making actualizing changes in their lives that will make them happier by making things seem daunting or like they have not already begun and made progress in the process of transition
