Yes, I would say he is a morally gray character, especially since we see him from Dru's perspective, and she has no idea if he's a good person or not for quite a while. Also she eventually finds something out that reverses her thoughts about him anyway (and, probably, ours.)

Thais' role is not huge because the only people with huge roles are the main four. But she's got her own plotline and romance (which I cannot talk about either) and certainly, without her, the world would not be saved.

All the characters have their own fighting styles, and of course Kit's gun is something no other Shadowhunter can teach him how to use. In TLKOF Kit only fights when he's with Ty, so he's getting used to fighting with someone else. He trained with Jem, but that's usually two people sparring, not teaming up to fight a different threat. So Kit is learning to fight with someone else by his side.

Who says Thais' love interest isn't someone we already met? :)
