((Hey! Not to make a post out of nowhere, but I kinda wanted to mention this--
The runner of this blog is a Black Tulsan, and part of why I wanted to do this blog in the first place was because I wanted to express some of that here. (ie: Black Wallstreet) I was a teen, so the weirdness of doing that didn’t daunt me as much as it maybe should have, and I ended up dropping the blog before getting that far, but remembering that aspect is why I logged on today.
As some of you may know, this year is the centennial of one of the most violent attacks on the community on US Soil-- The Tulsa Race Massacre. It’s been admittedly...very wild to see national news soverage of something that not that long ago they weren’t even allowed to mention in local schools (I mean about 30 years ago: my school experiences included a unit on it. That said, most states don’t mention it at all.) We’ve gotten more support in the last 5 years than we did the 95 preceding it. and that’s wild.
I implore you to look more into the event. Admittedly, I’m not providing links here because this post is personal and I don’t think my heart could take wading through all of the pages that probably now exist on the topic. It’s current news though, so you shouldn’t have to dig too far.
I guess...thank you for existing with me through this time. I can’t really think of an apt metaphor for what this feels like. It just feels.Â
