“And then I would be indebted with no way to pay it off. No thanks. I’d rather rough it.” What was he, even, a good question. “I’d like to who I am, too.”

Kid’s almost as stubborn as I am, he thought to himself.  “Alright, if that’s what ya want, I can’t stop ya.”  He shrugged, seemingly carelessly... but this was going to bug him for a while.  He’d wonder if the kid was okay for some time after this.

“Currency must be exchanged in order to procure goods and services.” Shanghai was apparently a thing here. “Unless they take Yen.”

“Tch--... What are you?”  No money, no apparent idea where he was, he acted like he was a... a freaking alien from another planet or something.  “I can get ‘em to put you up in a room while ya sort yer shit out.  All ya gotta do is ask.”

     “What’d they do to you?” Zack knew that Shin-Ra had screw people over, but he hadn’t thought it had reached all the way to Rocket Town.

“Compared t’what they did t’you, it seems pretty stupid, t’be honest, and I don’t really feel like rehashin’ it.”

     “I’m not a member of SOLDIER anymore. That ended when they put me in a tank full of mako for four years and then sent an army to kill me.”

“...that’s even shittier’n what they did t’me.”  They might have more in common than Cid had first suspected after all.

“I see. Well, I’d best be going now.” There it goes. All hope has been lost. None left. He would turn around and… not actually walk anywhere because he had no idea where to go.

“...alright then...?  The Shanghai Inn always has rooms, though, y’know.”

     “Can’t argue with you on that one. Shin-Ra can go to hell.”

“Wait, what?”

     “Well shouldn’t we? We suffered through years of training and mako injections and showers.”

“There ain’t no love lost between me an’ Shinra, so you can just piss off.”

     “Well, yeah! Everyone thinks I’m cute.”

“All you fuckin’ SOLDIERs have egos bigger’n the Shinra #26, too.”

“Western like… the Americas?” There was still hope. Barely.

“What the hell’s an ‘America’?”

     “Leave it to a hillbilly to solve everything with violence.”

“Y’think yer cute, don’t ya.”

“This is Rocket town.”  If the kid wanted to be vague, he might as well do the same courtesy.

“Could you tell me what country this town is in?”

“The Western Continent.”
