There’s gonna be a Repeal Jam this Sunday the 8th!

The Dublin location will be at GMB, 14 Mount Street Upper.

“#RepealJam are organizing concurrent game jams on the 8th of April to help those affected by the 8th Amendment tell their stories and share their thoughts. Stories of maternity, unwanted pregnancy & how a lack of access to safe and legal abortion in Ireland affects all of us.

The Eighth Amendment equates the right to life of a pregnant person with that of an embryo or foetus. This is an archaic and dangerous law. While many people have personal objections to abortion, the Pro-Choice campaign believes no one has a right to make this important and personal decision for others. There are many reasons people seek abortion, often due to medical dangers and complications. Bodily autonomy is a human right.”

Tickets are free, and there will be a collection for Together for Yes on the day.

If you’re one of our Dublin pals, we’ll be showing If Found Please Return at GXI on Saturday the 25th of November at the RDS. Llaura is going to be part of the IMIRT Indie Game Development panel that day at 3pm, so defo shoot along for that!

And if you’re around Dublin in early December you absolutely haveeeee to go to the Christmas Qweer Fayre organised by our very own Liadh alongside the Glitter HOLE family. It’s on December 3rd in Jigsaw from 1pm til 6pm! Go support cool queer events in Dublin! <3

///////SO! Here’s what’s been going on IN THE PAST:

In mid October lil aido (who is definitely not writing this in the third person) went over to Australia for Melbourne International Games Week… Okay, the jig is up, I’m switching to first person: I was super lucky to check out GCAP 2017, which included a wonderful keynote from Steve Gaynor and Karla Zimonja about their collaborative work together, and also a super neat talk about accessibility and representation from John Kane and Alayna Cole (from the amazing and important games organisation Queerly Represent Me).

I got to check out the wonderful Freeplay showcase Parallels. My highlights were the wonderful performance from Shang Lun Lee’s PlayReactive Studios, and an incomparably goosey presentation from House House of their “Untitled Goose Game”. The following evening we were showcasing If Found, Please Return at the Double Adapter Party, alongside Robin Baumgarten’s L.E.Delicious ‘Line Wobbler’, Ian MacLarty’s jarring and unique ‘Catacombs of Solaris’, and loads more cool games!

Lets Play The Shining by Pippin Barr Pippin Barr turns his pixelating attention towards vignette games via Kubrick’s classic. The music is my absolute fav.

Late last week I put up a teaser and COUNTDOWN for a new project to be launched in a couple weeks! So soon oh my gosh. I'm excited.

The Irish Design Awards happened! At the start of the night we were still in shock to be included among such an incredible lineup of peers and to be nominated for two awards. We went home with three! And a commendation! An award for game design, a commendation for collaborative design, another award for Llaura for emerging young designer and even the overall grand prize, which is completely unbelievable.

Liadh drew a really nice picture this morning of two of the characters from the story celebrating, which is above! I wasn't allowed to post this until Instagram got the premiere, so I'm happy to share it now! :D

Thanks to Liadh Young for all her work with DREAMFEEL over the past year. I've never worked with anyone as long as this, and it's still as easy, fun and exciting as it was in the beginning. Thanks so much to Liz Ryerson for her music, thanks to Eve Golden-Woods and Thryn Henderson for helping with production on this game, and lots and lots more people who r cool n rad. You know you. <3

After touring 'If Found, Please Return' around some European events this year it's now awaiting the right way to bring it to tablets and computers, but this is such an excellent way to underline the project and the work we did in 2016. Follow us here, or check out our mailing list to find out first what’s next.

Here's some very nice words about our game included in the very slick, and hefty, awards book the IDI put together for the event: "There is a point where new technology stops being about how effective it is technically, and becomes once more an instrument at the command of a collective artistic spirit."

To see an audience of design peers almost all of whom had no background with games GET IT means so much to us and is a huge affirmation of the work we're doing and the direction we're going.

We want to make interactive experiences and interactive narratives that are relevant and interesting to people of all ages and backgrounds. We believe video games are capable of surprise and wonder but also maturity and emotional value and we hope we can strive to live up to that even a little.

Hope you all had a chill and chilling Halloween! I watched some scary short films and played the VHS game Nightmare last night with some friends which was pretty spooky. :3

This is the first of your hopefully monthly DREAMFEEL updates. Since the Summer we've been working on an ambitious new narrative game. It's top secret, and we're not going to fully reveal it until early next year. In the meantime I want to start poking my head out and saying 'hey' and sharing what we've been up to. So, hey! Here's what we've been up to.

Last month we started by working on little interactive visual vignettes, scenes, and finishing an (unreleased) teaser trailer. Here's a screenshot of one of main characters, 'Fuchsia' below! Then after a short break we shifted gears at the end to focusing more on how the story develops and writing the actual dialogue of the game.

This was a huge step. We're working to strict deadlines and moving ahead chapter by chapter. This month we're going to continue focusing on a first draft of the script, alongside some visual experimentation as ever, and in December get it all into Unity. Hopefully with most of the first act done!

Late last month also got a finished selection of excellent music (7 tracks!!) from our composer, who I can't wait to announce alongside the kickstarter.

In other news, lots of cool things have happened: - We were nominated by the Institute of Designers Ireland for 'If Found, Please Return' in the brand new category of 'Game Design' as well as the category of 'Collaborative Design'. This is a game that we made in the first half of the year, and it brought together a lot of game and story ideas I've wanted to hit for a while. I'm really excited by it, so it's nice to see it recognized. We brought it to a number of events like EGX Rezzed and AMaze, and in the future I hope we CAN return to it in a very big way. - Liadh launched an online store for her comics!! This includes her latest one, Flower Boy: http://boysunday.bigcartel.com/. Flower Boy comes replete with a bonus zine of drawn scenes from the classic Ozu film 'Tokyo Story' which is one of my absolute favourites. - I ran a small 'Eargoat' event last month, where we got together to play games from Fermijam on a projector in a public space. It was really nice. I can't wait to do more events like this, maybe even skype interviewing the creators themselves.

Things to look out for in the next few weeks: - Critical Hits, an anthology of games criticism, is having its launch party in Dublin on Saturday the 12th.
