E.g.

- never put your name or initials on clothing or bags (especially for kids) because it gives an attacker/abductor the upper hand and an in to gain trust.

-teach your kids a password that only you and they know and to use in an emergency (my partner and I even have one). If a stranger comes up to them and says “your mom/dad asked me to come get you” your kid will ask for the password and if the stranger doesn’t know it, the kid knows to run/scream,etc.

- never wear shoes you can’t run in.

- if walking alone:

——don’t wear your hair in a pony tail because it’s an easy grip for an attacker and they will be able to control you more easily.

My inclination is to approach and try to comfort the intended victim but in fight or flight that can be as scary. The suggestion was to put yourself between the offender and the intended target and engage the offender and keep their focus on you.

This made sense to me so I have changed my actions.
