Spirit shattered, they are made a puppet of destiny once again.
And as they scour the Mists and the jails trapped within - searching for that glimmer that ever eludes them - they wonder how long a puppet can last before it đđ§đđđ đš altogether.
Far beyond, in a place unknowable, the Dark Powers smile as they pull the strings they have nurtured for millennia.

DEMO (TBA)
It was supposed to be the happiest day of your life. With a new ring on your hand and your childhood friend by your side, your future was supposed to be spent in comfort and married bliss.
A shame the only thing adorning your hands that day was a stain of red you werenât sure would ever wash off.
Forced to flee into the dangerous Mists to escape a horrible fate, you stumble into Vhage Agency with nothing but the clothes on your back and a life in shambles. Whether out of pity or desperation, Vera Vhage makes you an offer: join her detective agency and become her eyes and ears within Ravenloft.
With no other choice, you agree and begin your investigative training in earnest.
Youâre not sure what you expected to happen when you finally became a certified investigator months later. It certainly wasnât the arrival of a suspicious letter at the agency's doorstep, promising answers to the burning questions you had about your past. Answers you would get only if you proved yourself to the mysterious sender.
With letter in hand, you set off determined to find out more about that fateful day. Whether you burn for revenge or wish to put your ghosts to rest, what you must do next is clear:
Fully customizable MC - including gender, pronouns, physical appearance, personality, sexuality, and some background elements.
Choose your stats and select from several classes and skills to craft the perfect investigator. Are you dexterous and perceptive enough to find what you need while sneaking in the shadows? Perhaps your natural charisma can persuade those around you to divulge their worst secrets? Maybe the gifts (curses) you have gained can help you (crush everyone in your way)?
Make rolls to see just how well you succeed at your chosen actions - or how spectacularly you fail. Not to worry, though: failure isnât always the end. It may lead to new outcomes and opportunities you werenât expecting.
Meet a cast of nine companions for you to befriend or romance (or betray). Will you claw past their walls and find a place in their hearts? (Will you drag them into the darkness with you?)
Solve all seven cases detailed in the letter and find out the truth of your past. Remember, though - Ravenloft is not a gentle place. You may find more in your investigations than you bargained for.
You watch as they run into the distance, the fog of the moors swirling around them like a loving embrace. Their own embrace still lingers on your cooling skin - the memory of it warm and comforting and painful. It conjures other memories in your mind, filling you with nostalgia and longing. Taunting you with the life you took for granted until now. Our Guardian in the Mists, you pray as the last air in your lungs passes the smile on your lips. Protect and guide them on their way now that I cannot. You know this is dangerous, to yearn and mourn so deeply while you lay upon the ground. While the red puddle underneath you spreads and your skin goes from cooling to cold. Everyone in Mordent is told from childhood what happens when you cling too desperately to a life that is no longer yours. Those unlucky enough even witness it firsthand. But despite the risk, you do not look away - even as the fog grows thicker and their figure blurs in the mist. Even as the blur grows stronger from the tears you do not allow yourself to shed.
Your tears and smile remain even after your soul departs.

The Ghost
F - Romanceable by all MCs
As the last notes of your lute drift across the Crystal Club, you cannot help but tense with anticipation. The cheers of the audience bring a dazzling smile to your lips, and you take a practiced bow as their applause reverberates within the room. Straightening, you sweep your eyes across the crowd and scan the faces there. Instinctively, you search for a face you always hope you will see. Consciously, you search for a face you always pray you will not. Finding neither, you sigh both in relief and disappointment as you reluctantly leave the safety of the stage to maneuver through the venue. Praise and invitations to drink shower down upon you as you go, but you wave them away with a quip and a smile. Tonight you are restless, your skin burning and itching with something you canât quite name - your soul howling with something you donât quite want to. Finally reaching the chill night air, you breathe in deeply and turn your head to the night sky to watch the full moon shining past the clouds.
In the shadows of the cave behind you, a sharp smirk widens as even sharper claws glint in the moonlight.

The Mists
M - Romanceable by all MCs
With a sigh, you unceremoniously drop the tome you have urgently studied throughout the night. It was supposedly a long lost relic from the hidden libraries of Scholomance - or so the traveling peddler hawking it had claimed. You knew it was a scam even before your coins entered her palms, but continuous disappointments such as this have made you grow desperate in your search. Some have called you foolish to hunt so fervently for knowledge you are unsure exists. On days where the hellish shadow of your past clings less tightly to your mind, you can even swallow your pride and acknowledge the truth in their words. But as you watch tendrils of fog pool at the windows of the caravan you travel in - the Mists surrounding you almost seeming to push against the glass - you know this cannot deter you. You would rather be a fool one thousand times over than return to what you were before. You will find the knowledge you seek and escape this wretched existence.
Even if you must destroy the world around you to do so.

The Marionette
NB - Romanceable by all MCs
Walking the streets of Ludendorf at night has always been your favorite pastime. The quiet stillness of the desolate roads is a balm to your anxious mind, and the smog-covered snow drifting from the sky adds a sense of peace to the city. Here, there is no judgement or prejudice: the snow does not care whose skin it falls upon. It does not care where that skin has been - or who that skin used to belong to. A shame the same cannot be said for people. Their fearful gazes and hurled insults replay in your mind if you can even call it your own, and your hands shake from these recollections as you stare at the snow falling upon them. In a rare moment of selfishness, you decide to drink in this peace while you can. You know from prior experience that as soon as the man you carry over your shoulder awakens, this calm will be shattered immediately. He will look at you with that same gaze and scream those same insults as soon as he sees what hides underneath your hood.
The dead flesh haphazardly stitched together is a sight straight out of his worst nightmares, after all.

The Executioner
F/M/NB - Romanceable by all MCs
The wooden door in front of you creaks as it eases open, and you wince slightly as every eye in the tavern swivels towards you. Straightening your posture, you steadily approach the counter across the room. The clanking of your sabatons is the only sound echoing in the silence that now permeates the air. You are used to the glares burning into your back and the contempt you can feel within them, which is why your smile does not falter when the owner informs you there are no vacancies left for the night. Though you may have defended the town from a zombie swarm mere hours ago, a Knight of the Shadows is never welcomed by those they protect. You feel your left hand twitch as it subtly inches to your blade, a pressure beginning to build in your temples. The voice that appears in your mind is both familiar and unwelcome, and it gives a shrill cackle as you ignore the hex it viciously chants. Clenching your twitching hand into a fist, you stride out into the night and resolve to continue on to the next town in need of help.
Maybe there you will finally find the one you swore your oath to all those years ago - someone you will actually be happy to defend.

The Beast
F - Romanceable by f!MCs and nb!MCs
As you feel your fist connect with the jaw of the woman before you, you do not even try to stop the feral grin that splits your lips at the sound of snapping bones. Your opponent stumbles back with a hiss, clutching at her lower face as she bares her teeth in a snarl. Before she can recuperate, however, you are on her once again: your clawed hands digging into her temples as she is lifted off the ground, desperately thrashing. You had expected more of a challenge from a member of the notorious Kargatane when you found this woman sniffing around the camp during your nightly patrol, but so far she has been nothing but a disappointment. Thankfully, you can make this woman give you more than a subpar fight. Squeezing her head even tighter, you feel her anger and terror flow into you, ebbing the hunger that is ever present. You drink these feelings in until you are satiated, then crush her body to you in one sudden movement. Roughly yanking her head to the side, your smile widens as you lean in closer.
The woman cannot even scream before a flash of your fangs silences her forever.

The Seer
M - Romanceable by m!MCs and nb!MCs
Just like every other night, you dream. Disjointed and often blurry scenarios flood your mind at a rapid rate, each one demanding to be seen - to be heard - to be remembered. Try as you might, you are powerless to ignore them as they play out before you. You look into probably the past and see a child running through the woods, an unknown horror doggedly pursuing them. You look into the maybe future and witness a family torn asunder as the thing that now wears their fatherâs face preys upon their fears. Time itself distorts to show you these visions, assaulting your senses with realities both false and true until you can barely tell what is the past future truth. Just like every other night, you wake disoriented and nauseous with a scream silenced by ancient magic choking your throat. Shaking, you cover your mouth and wonder what accursed fool would call something like this a gift: even more than the magic that silences your tongue, this power feels like a curse meant to cause perpetual suffering.
Once more, like every other night, you soundlessly weep in a present you want no part of.

Obscured by mist and shadow, you lurk underneath the canopy of the dense forest and survey the city it borders. A slight wind blows at the fog that envelops you, causing it to swirl and shift into strange shapes. The absence of any sound save the windâs soft howling only adds to the eerie atmosphere of your surroundings, but you pay it no mind. As an investigator, you are used to environments like this, allowing you to focus on your task. It was only a few days ago that a cryptic letter arrived at your door, foretelling the reappearance of a semicentennial crime spree that none had solved before. At first you dismissed it as an exaggeration, but after poring over the periodicals and papers at your disposal you scrounged up enough clues to prove it was true. Solving this when others could not would finally give you what you always desired: indisputable proof that you have surpassed your instructors and become the best in the field. Almost immediately, you set off to the location detailed in the letter - a city of lies and betrayal.
Here, the greatest case of your career is about to begin. Here, you will prove yourself once and for all.

The Tempter
NB - Romanceable by all MCs
Seated on a pew in the Great Cathedral, you cannot help but smile at the beautiful sight before you. The light shining through the stained glass windows creates a dazzling array of colors that reflect on the church floor - each one painting a mosaic onto the pale stone below. Within the kaleidoscope made by the grandest window sits a young man in priestly garments and shackles, flanked by figures in dark robes with grim expressions. The man rocks and babbles as the inquisitors stare down at him, the few coherent thoughts left in his mind forced out into the open by psychic coercion. He speaks of a figure with blood-red lips and haunting eyes who appeared in his time of need. He raves about his home, a far-off hamlet at the edge of this domain - set ablaze with no survivors. A necessary tragedy to combat the evil he saw in his neighborsâ hearts - or so the figure claimed. Madness swirls in the priestâs eyes as he is dragged off to the cellars below - eyes that widen when they land on your figure sitting in the light.
With a smirk of your red lips, you saunter out of the cathedral to the sounds of his howls and cries - ready to search for the next mind to corrupt.

So far, they haven't given you any demands or asked for any services. You aren't sure if they don't have any, or if they're simply biding their time.
Ever since they became your patron, you've had strange dreams. Most you can't remember, but there are flashes of some that you can. They almost seem like memories, but none that belong to you.
The mark is sort of meant to be like a birthmark the MC has somewhere on their body. Something like dark purple and red splotches on one of your arms, or three long perpendicular marks that cover your shoulder. Normally something that isn't too strange, but the MC and their mom are already viewed with unease by the superstitious Mordentish population. A mark like MC's creates even more whispers of possession or dark bargains.
Basically the human MC's version of horns or scales that the other races get. Something that others will notice and mention, whether good or bad.
What are the ROs types (keeping in mind lots of MCs can probably date them)?
I've tried to keep it open so that many different types of MCs can date each RO, but still show that they have preferences. There are some personality traits they're more drawn to, but MCs with any personality can romance them. đ„°
The important thing with the ROs is alignment. MCs of certain alignments will find it much easier to get close to certain ROs, while other ROs will dislike their actions and views at the beginning.
---
I: (likes: good, dislikes: evil)
They like someone who is kind, and who tries to help others - or at the very least, doesn't actively hurt people when its not necessary. They have a hard time accepting people who go out of their way to hurt others, or who know their actions will cause harm but do not care.
I is drawn to people who are brave - since it's a trait they lack - and merciful - since they believe people should treat each other with compassion.
Akriel: (likes: chaotic, dislikes: lawful)
She likes people who are confident and driven - someone who is just kind of drifting by in life usually doesn't catch her interest. She doesn't care about rules or traditions, and won't mesh well with an MC who is adamant on following them.
Akriel finds it easier to be around people who are sociable or emotional. She's not exactly sure how to interact with someone who is withdrawn, or who only focuses on facts and logic.
Firan: (likes: lawful, dislikes: chaotic)
He tends to like people who have an interest in learning. He finds it easier to converse with someone if they are knowledgeable in some field of study. He dislikes people who are unpredictable, and thinks it's better for someone to have a structure or code that they follow.
Firan is drawn more to people who are logical or impulsive. He believes relying on emotions to dictate your actions is foolish, but can also respect someone who isn't afraid to act immediately to get what they want.
Clove: (likes: neutral, dislikes: chaotic)
They like people who are calm and open-minded. It's admirable to them when someone focuses on their own desires and motivations, without worrying about what others will think of them. They don't like when someone is too erratic, though.
Clove gets along better with people who are reserved or timid. They are still learning how to interact with others, and can get overwhelmed when someone is too loud and outgoing. They also can relate to someone who gets nervous very easily.
E: (likes: good, dislikes: evil)
They find it more attractive when someone is willing to help others, even if there is no personal gain. Honor and loyalty are very important to them, and they are more drawn to people who value those as well.
E likes people who are genuine and brave. They admire people who are able to face dangerous situations with courage, and who are sincere in their interactions with others.
Lei: (likes: evil, dislikes: good)
She finds it attractive if someone is willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want. She thinks people who preach about morals are weak, and is more drawn to someone who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.
Lei gets along better with people who are ruthless and reserved. She thinks compassion is a weakness, and has little patience for someone who constantly tries to engage her in conversation.
Dimitrius: (likes: neutral, dislikes: lawful)
He admires people who put the happiness and safety of those they care about above everything else, even the law. He also finds it attractive when someone is faithful and keeps the promises they make.
Dimitrius is more drawn to someone who is logical and cautious. He tends to dislike people who are overly superstitious, or who put themselves and others in danger because of rash actions.
Noel: (likes: lawful, dislikes: chaotic)
Someone who is always doing what they want, no matter the consequences, would easily get under Noel's skin. They believe it's important to follow the rules, and tend to like people who agree with this opinion.
Noel believes it's important for a person to be cautious and genuine. They hate when someone has a habit of lying, and believe the truth is most important. She prefers to plan things carefully, and respects others who do the same.
Uriel: (likes: chaotic, dislikes: lawful)
She likes to have fun, and enjoys being with someone who can match her energy. She doesn't care at all about the norms of society, and mostly finds anyone who strictly follows the rules a complete bore.
Uriel likes people who are sociable, since he hates being unable to tell what someone is thinking. Unsurprisingly, he is drawn more to people who are deceitful - he likes to make it a game to see who is the better liar.

I wonder if the all the ROs have vicious mockery what would their be their best insult to someone
I have a confession, anon: my Vicious Mockery game is weak.đ I had to search around for some ideas, so some of these may seem a bit familiar.
âââ
I: Theyâve only made one decent insult in their life. The psychic damage for the rest is secondhand embarrassment.
âI will make sure to say a pr-prayer for you. Itâs clear you - you will need it.â
Akriel: Brutal. Inventive. Makes her opponent wish theyâd never shown up to the fight.
âI was about to insult your parents, but it looks like I shouldnât bother: theyâve already got you.â
Firan: He comes up with something clever, but then talks for far too long.
âCasting one of my spells on you would just be a waste of components. After all, your minuscule brain could not even begin to comprehend the sheer magnitude of my magical prow - wait, Skeever, let me finish!â
Clove: Unintentional insults that are somehow terrifying. Doesnât even realize theyâre using the spell.
âDo not worry. This will be over quickly. It will not hurt for long.â
E: Their insults would be subtle, and always about the opponentâs character.
âIâd say itâs an honor to fight you, but I donât make it a habit to lie.â
Lei: Her lines are always said deadpan and sound mildly threatening. Probably causes fear too.
âI should be getting paid to punch your shitty face in. Clearly doing the world a favor.â
Dimitrius: His insults are rare but scathing. Alternatively, just flips them off.
Donât worry, you wonât be a complete idiot for long - just half of one.
Noel: Always uses insults about the enemyâs lack of intelligence.
âInsulting you is simply a waste of time. Our fight will be long concluded before your mind can process my words.â
Uriel: Finds what the opponent is most sensitive about and attacks it mercilessly.
âWell now, darling. Iâd ask if thatâs a shortsword in your pocket, but itâs clear you only have a dagger. At best.â
May I have some Dimitrius facts please đ„ș I love him and I want to have dramatic gay kisses with him in the rain
Of course you may! He would never admit it, but Dimitrius would also love to have dramatic gay kisses in the rain. He thinks itâs very romantic.đ„°
As for the facts:
Heâs been a grandmaâs boy ever since he was little. Whenever their merchant caravan was traveling through the Mists, he loved to sit in her lap and have her read him stories. He would cry whenever they were separated.
Heâs skilled at household chores, and does all the cleaning and maintenance for the wagon. If he could, he would do all the cooking too, but Desdemona insists on helping him with it - cooking should be done with family, she says.
He has a surprising sweet tooth, though he tries to hide it. His favorite desserts are bougatsa and ravani. He hates traveling to Barovia, since he always has to resist the dream pastries sold there.
He has a natural affinity with animals, and seems to attract them wherever he goes. Heâs had several join him when heâs sitting outside: birds, rabbits, squirrels - even a bear, once. Heâs like a broody Disney princess.
The rings he wears on each finger may seem decorative, but he actually wears them for a practical purpose. Whenever he enters a particularly bad vision, he twists them around and fiddles with them to help himself focus on something besides the sight in front of him.
He would die if anyone found out, but he keeps a stash of romance novels hidden in his room. He likes to read them on nights when his night terrors keep him up.
Hi, itâs me again, and I am now obsessed with this IF. Even digging out one of my old DnD concepts to make a character for it.
More questions about Lei, who now lives rent free in my head. It says sheâs easily annoyed; how far can one push that? Can the MC enjoy annoying her? Could she kill the MC because theyâre being annoying?
Hello again! Thank you so much for the asks!đ If you want to share, Iâd be interested to hear about the DnD concept your digging out! Iâm personally a forever DM, so I always love hearing about other peopleâs characters.đ
As for Lei, she would never go so far has to kill or seriously injure the MC because they were annoying her. She likes to threaten to do it - and certainly makes it seem like she will - but itâs mostly just a way to get you to leave her alone. Now, if she thinks the MC is actively and purposefully getting in the way of her goals, thatâs different. Then the MC should watch out.đ°
You can certainly enjoy annoying her, and there will absolutely be options for the MC to do it on purpose. For me personally, I think one of the best parts of having aloof or irritable characters is being able to push all their buttons.đ And the MC might be surprised at how Lei reacts when you keep pushing her for too long... đ
Here are all the outfits, anon.đ Hope the descriptions are okay! Clothingâs always been a bit tricky for me.đ
---
I: Iâs clothes tend to be in shades of either white, brown or green. Though they are exquisitely made, they tend to be in disarray due to Iâs lack of care. Ian and Isa wear breeches and loose silk shirts with embroidered waistcoats. Iris wears long dresses with fitted tops and flared waists, adorned with lace detailing. All wear short riding boots of brown leather. Iâs only accessories are a pair of silver spectacles and an ornate green locket with brass detailing.
Akriel: Akrielâs clothing is bold and dashing. She favors detailed blousy shirts in all colors, tucked into dark leather riding pants that match her gloves. No matter what, she always wears: a wide-brimmed gray hat, burgundy leather riding boots, a large wolf-tooth necklace and an elaborate moss-green jacket with wide cuffs. Several rings and earrings of many shades adorn her as well.
Firan: He prefers to wear vests and loose breeches - tucked into high leather boots - with long robes or coats. His clothes are always in shades of black or deep red, and adorned with elaborate golden embroidery. The only accessory he owns is a tiny amulet of a golden dragon, kept on a similarly gold chain. One arm is covered by a dark leather vambrace, for Skeever to perch on.
Clove: Their clothing is very simple - plain loose shirts and trousers in shades of white, brown or gray. Their clothes always seems to be torn or dirtied in one way or another. They have no accessories that they carry, and seem to have a hatred for socks and shoes. Clove always wears a dark cloak with a deep hood to hide their body and face as much as they can.
E: No one has seen E without their armor on - they say they like to wear it as much as possible in case of any surprise attacks. They wear a full set of silver plate, plain except for the eclipsed sun engraved on the breastplate. A black cloak with gold edges covers their back, the clasp fashioned in the same symbol. The longsword strapped to their waist and towering shield they carry are the only accessories they need.
Lei: She wears plain laced shirts covered by black leather armor, with tall boots and many belts to hold her weapons. Her hands are covered with leather gloves, and a long black cloak rests on her shoulders. There is no ornamentation to any of her clothing - all of it is designed for practicality. A small golden bell threaded through a red cord is the only accessory she carries.
Dimitrius: Everything Dimitrius wears is black: the only color in his outfit is the gold of his piercings and rings. A loose laced shirt and fitted breeches are covered by knee-high leather boots and an open cropped vest, all underneath a long overcoat and scarf. His gloves are cut off at the fingers to make it easier to sign. His golden tattoos begin at his throat and travel along the rest of his body, down to his toes.
Noel: They like to wear dark leather breeches and silk shirts, favoring dark blue, gray or white colors. Their shirts are usually covered by a dark leather vest, as well as a long belt to hold their many concealed knives. They wear tall leather boots, and a knee-length gray coat with a large collar. Her only accessories are a silk cravat and a silver walking cane she always carries.
Uriel: Her style can only be described as lavish. Lacey silk shirts with ruffles and flared sleeves, embroidered high-waisted breeches, long skirts of velvet or brocade - if it looks expensive, Uriel will wear it. She favors bright shades of red and pink, coupled with glittering jewelry of every color. The one consistent piece is a dark crystal earring he wears that seems to shine with stars.

This is such a stupid idea, but I've gotten this scenario stuck in my head and I can't help but get it off my chestđ
So with this whole detective and nior aesthetic going on, I'm just imagining what would be the RO reactions if in a certain crime scene the Bard MC pieces together the clues; and does a whole song and dance number of "Smooth Criminal" by Michael Jackson to convey the meaning of the clues and what they deduced had happened. Ofcourse Annie is the name of the client.
Maybe they multi-classed into necromancer and can summon a few skeletons to act as backup dancers. I dunno, it's so stupid but this scene idea is something I had to share with the worldđ„č
đ€Ł I mean, Bard MC has to show off their skills somehow! Theyâre just making the case interesting for everyone.đ
Also, anytime anyone mentions the idea of a bard/necromancer multiclass, I always think of this song.
---
I: Theyâre happy that youâre enjoying yourself, but they think this might not be the time and place for a performance - there was just a crime. Anxiously tries to stop you and offers to watch your performance later instead.
Akriel: Accomplice #1. Plays her instrument alongside you and provides back-up vocals for your number. Will probably insist that you both do performances like this every time you solve a crime.
Firan: Your performance is certainly... interesting. Heâs not particularly surprised by it - itâs hard finding something that will genuinely shock him. Probably reading a book while it goes on.
Clove: Amazed. They havenât seen any song or dance numbers before, so this is a whole new experience for them. Sits and watches the full performance with rapt attention.
E: Probably actively trying to stop you. They want to support you, but the client just went through a horrible crime! There might be someone who needs to be brought to justice - song and dance will have to wait!
Lei: Nope. Not dealing with this. Sheâs already a pretty impatient person, and having to watch your full musical number is not something she wants to do. Leaves and doesnât come back till itâs over.
Dimitrius: Flabbergasted. How long have you been planning this? Leans against a nearby wall and expressionlessly watches the performance - trying to hide his foot tapping to the beat.
Noel: This is a serious case, and is not the time for song and dance. They tell the deduction to the client before your number is even over, then also leave the scene so they donât have to witness this.
Uriel: Accomplice #2. Probably dances alongside the skeletons - how she knows the moves, you arenât sure. Gives you a standing ovation after the performance and also insists you do this every case.
How would the ROs react if they got in a fight that ended with them being unconscious then they herd a familiar voice saying âwhy isnât it workingâ then they wake up and see the necromancer MC then they noticed a light on the MC hand that look very similar to the light when MC rise the dead and MC said âoh hey youâre still alive yeah thatâs goodâ
(For context MC saw the ROs unconscious body thought they were dead and try to turn them into zombies)ïżŒ
These poor ROs.đ First theyâre being set on fire, and now this lol. They just canât catch a break.
---
The monstrosity before you lets out one final cry as your magic slams into it, a sickly green energy enveloping the creature and sucking out its life essence. As it collapses to the ground, youâre finally able to catch your breath and survey the scene around you. Though little, the carrion stalker that had suddenly burst out of one of your servants proved to be a deadly opponent - evidenced by the prone form you see lying a few feet away. Approaching the body of your presumably dead companion, an idea forms in your mind. That same lurid green magic covers your hand as you raise it, staring at your target. Maybe this doesnât have to be a total loss, after all...
I is exempt from this one. :) Â
Akriel:
âWelp, that didnât go like I planned.â Akriel groans as she slowly sits up, her normally immaculate clothing now covered in grime and blood. With a grimace, she shakes her head and looks around - quickly spotting your hand still hovering over her. Grinning, she raises her own towards you. âThatâll teach me to try to play mind games with a thing like that. Mind helping me up?â As you go to do so, she laughs when you tell her itâs good sheâs still alive and merrily agrees. But when you look into her eyes, you see something in them past the cheer.
She knows what you were trying to do. And though she wonât say anything about it now... sheâll remember.
Firan:
"The reason it is not working,â Firan begins, not even bothering to open his eyes, âis because the target of your spell must be deceased. Which, clearly, I am not.â Rising to his feet, he dusts off his clothes and does not even bother to listen to your reassurance before beginning to stroll away. Itâs clear he means to pretend this never happened. Itâs only when Skeever swoops down to land on his arm that he stops to address the air. âHowever, I would advise you not to try that again, MC.â Both him and the raven turn to look at you as one, eyes pinning you in place as your blood runs cold.
âYou never know what you may be bringing back to life.â
Clove: (tw: panic attack)
Clove suddenly shoots up, frantically looking around them. They tremble as their chest heaves, and you can see their fingers twitch as they dig them into their temples. They donât even seem to register your words or presence, eyes glassy as they grapple with something you canât see. Eventually, their arms lower and their eyes meet yours. âMC,â they croak out, voice full of relief. âIâm still me.â When they hear you say itâs good theyâre still alive, they give you a rare smile, tears shining in their eyes. They seem to have no idea about your earlier plan.
It might be best to keep it that way.
E:
Eâs eyes slowly blink open, confusion written on their face. When they see you standing above them, though, the fog clouding their mind seems to clear and they rocket to their feet at a surprising speed. Their gauntlets are heavy when their hands land on both your shoulders, but they donât seem to notice as they scan you for apparent injuries. âForgive me,â they say gravely, face serious. âIâm supposed to be protecting you, yet youâre the one who saved me.â Their eyes shine with determination when you give your reassurance, and they kneel as they reply, âOn my oath, I promise this wonât happen again.â
Their bowed head hides the dark look they give the dead monstrosity behind you.
Lei:
"The hellâre you doing,â Lei grunts as she cracks an eye open. Sheâd still managed to look annoyed somehow when unconscious, but now that sheâs awake she looks practically furious - though whether thatâs because of you or because of her own predicament, you arenât sure. Before you can tell her itâs good sheâs still alive, her hand shoots out and grabs your wrist, pulling you down to meet her halfway. âDonât pull that shit again,â she snarls, âor Iâll break that flimsy wrist of yours.â Her hold on you tightens, grip almost strong enough to bruise, before she finally lets go.
Threat finished, she rises and pushes past you, only stopping to give the dead crawler a viscous kick before stomping away.
Dimitrius:
He doesnât open his eyes or try to get up, but you can tell when Dimitrius awakes from the way his face immediately morphs into a frown. If youâre doing what I think you are right now, he signs to you, stop. Reluctantly, he sits up and raises his head to meet yours. You think he looks tired, but itâs hard to tell past the already prominent bags underneath his eyes. You tell him youâre glad heâs awake, but his frown only deepens. Iâm not, he admits after a moment. It was quiet for once. Nothing to See. Before you can respond, heâs already begun to walk away - most likely to avoid any questions.
For a long time after, the look that had been on his face when you found him stays seared in your mind: a look of utter relief.
Noel:
A weary sigh leaves Noelâs lips as their eyes open to stare at the sky above them. If they were religious, you think theyâd be praying to one of the gods right now. âWhy am I not surprised,â they exasperatedly mutter, pinching the bridge of their nose. Checking for any injuries as they rise to their feet, they give a disbelieving huff when you remark youâre glad they are alright. âI will pretend to believe that,â she replies, giving your previously glowing hand a dubious look. âBoth for the sake of your dignity, and for the sake of my rapidly deteriorating sanity.â
Theyâre suspicious tone lets you know theyâll make sure to keep an eye on you from now on, however.
Uriel:
You watch as Urielâs body twitches and begins to rise, arms and legs jerking back and forth until the zombie is fully standing in front of you. His shoulders slump forward, head tilted downward as gravelly groans leave his throat. Satisfied, you mentally command him to follow you as you walk away - but only manage to take one step before you are grabbed by stiff arms and crushed to the body behind you. A loud growl is the only warning you get before the zombie lunges at your throat, mouth opening to... nip you. âGot you,â Uriel laughs, breath tickling your skin. His eyes shine with mirth as he proudly says his next line.
âI canât believe you fell for that one! Trust me, darling, if I ever do end up dying - youâll know.â
So, for race there is going to be some restriction on what the PC can be. The MC always has to be half human (since their mother is a human woman from one of the noble families of Mordent), but there are six options for the race of your other parent. No matter which race you pick, the MC begins the story ostracized by others due to Reasons.
The option that you choose impacts the beginning stat bonus you get and gives you additional customization options for your characterâs appearance, as well as different flavor text during the story.
Me, hearing Lei is a red flag: "Well, red's my favorite color and I'm losing myself in the red of her eyes."
My planned Leimancer: "You must be fucking joking."
đ€Ł Your Leimancer might not be happy, but Iâm glad to see Lei is getting some love. She needs it. Even if she might not think soâŠ
âââ
Lei snorts, crossing her arms as she tilts back in her chair. Her annoyed glare is a sight youâre more than familiar with by now, and does nothing to stop the grin on your lips as you sit across from her.
âThat line supposed to impress me?â she asks, sounding distinctly unimpressed. âSounds like the kind of shit Uriel would say.â
Before you can respond, sheâs suddenly in front of you - though you swear you didnât see her move. She looms over you, crowding you into the chair you occupy as she grabs either side of the backrest - right next to your shoulders - and leans. You think you might hear a crack next to your ear, but itâs hard to focus when all you can see is red, coming closer and closer until itâs the only thing in your vision - the only thing that matters. Thereâs something in her gaze now that makes you shiver, goosebumps forming on your skin. It looks a lot like hunger.
âIâd be careful âbout âlosing yourself in my eyesâ, shÇguÄ,â she growls, low and dangerous. The grin that accompanies her next words is fierce and sharp: almost as sharp as the teeth protruding past her lips - the teeth inching closer to your neck.
âNot sure the red youâd see is one youâd wanna be lost in.â

How would the ROs react to a wizard MC that always uses fireball for any situations without any concern for the safety of themselves or others
Oh, boy⊠đ
âââ
I: Constantly Stressedâą. What if you hurt someone?? What if you hurt yourself?! Pleads with you to find another spell to use - or at least to be more careful! Probably cries - they donât want to be separated again.đą They donât like it, but theyâll stay with you to try to minimize the risk. Would be more unhappy the longer you do it.
Akriel: She thinks itâs fun - the first few times. As the novelty wears off, though, she starts to get concerned. Donât you think this is a bit⊠much? Youâre putting the group in danger. And even she thinks youâre drawing too much attention to them. Mysteriously vanishes each time you do it - she canât have anything ruining her reputation.
Firan: Judges you, hard. You do realize you are a wizard, correct? There are so many spells you could learn - you can even raise the dead! Yet you insist on almost blowing yourself up. He will even be gracious enough to teach you some spells, if you beg properly. As long as he isnât in danger, though, he sees no reason to stop you.
Clove: Youâre scaring them.đ° They donât really like loud noises - or all the attention you draw to them with your antics. They wonât ask you to stop, though - theyâll just suffer through it. Probably the one in most danger from the explosions: when theyâre raging, they might not notice whatâs happening. I donât see it ending well for them if no one stops you.
E: Activates Protective Mode. Already bodily carrying you away from the scene before the spell is even completed: they made an oath to keep you safe, and they intend to keep it - even if they have to protect you from yourself!đ€ Not happy that youâre putting other people at risk. If they canât stop you, theyâll just have to take out the enemies before you can.
Lei: Doesnât really care about it. It doesnât matter to her whether you blow yourself or someone else up. If you put her in danger, though, she will be pissed: MC will probably have to watch their back for a while.đ As long as sheâs safe, though, feel free to use Fireball as much as you want⊠just leave some of the enemies for her.
Dimitrius: Not really surprised: his Sight warned him this would happen. Heâll let you do whatever you want so long as you donât endanger him or his grandmother. Will intervene if he Sees youâre going to get hurt - he was hired to guide you, and he canât do that if youâre dead. The one expressionlessly watching on as you burn something down - again.
Noel: âŠAre you a fool? You are an investigator, not an arsonist. How are they going to find anything if you keep blowing up everything around you? They arenât particularly concerned for your safety, but are worried for everyone else. Will argue with you about it, but if she canât make you stop then she will eventually leave the party.
Uriel: Cheers you on - from a safe distance, of course. He enjoys the chaos you create, since it makes everything a little less boring. Acts as the devilâs advocate for any arguments from the other party members. She would probably be a bit sad if you got hurt, but not enough to tell you to stop. The only one happy with the situation.đ
