DANGANRONPA: DESCENT

Hi everyone,

We all apologize if this seems a bit sudden, although to some of you it may seem like it’s been a long time coming. Please read everything we’ve chosen to write in this post as it is quite important, and very relevant to all players. Furthermore… for a great number of reasons (upon which we will elaborate later on), the mod team has decided to close DR: Descent for good. Please read below for a full explanation.

(Kitaura Nagamasa)

Description:  Nagamasa’s arms are also folded. A large pool of blood is surrounding his head.

Time of Death: 11:21 PM

Time of Discovery: 12:20 AM

Place: Luck and skill minigame room.

Cause of Death: Trauma to the head with object.

(Abel de Borbón)

Description: Abel’s body is laying down on top of a small pool of blood near his head. His arms are folded and his position is somewhat stiff.

Time of Death: 11:47 PM

Time of Discovery: 12:20 AM

Place: Luck and skill minigame room.

Cause of Death: Asphyxiation.

If you’d like to discover more evidence in regards to the murder, investigate the crime scene. Investigation rules will be posted soon.

Then, out of the blue, EDO had turned on. You thought that it wasn’t all that surprising. Surely, someone could have killed, as it was only a matter of time. You listened in onto what the television had to say nonetheless. 

"Hello everyone! I do hope that you all had such a wonderful time here at our very own Carnaval Fioriture! Yes, I do have to say it like that. I hope everyone got lots of nice deals on the rides and games! Wait… you don’t have to pay? Well, that isn’t fair! You have me wait just for this kind of opportunity to happen. I guess you could say that I got a wonderful deal, however. Two for one, even! Go ahead and look in the place you were having just so much fun in a short while ago!”

You made your way to the luck and skill minigame area. So many thoughts had came into your head. Two for one deal? Wait… that couldn’t mean what it really meant, could it? One person dying was already horrible. You couldn’t even imagine…

But it was real. Two of the people who have been locked in here - Abel and Nagamasa. They were both laid down to rest, and if your educated assumptions were correct… dead. Side by side with their arms crossed like crucifixes. It almost looked like someone had felt pity just as the deed was done… A dark atmosphere had enshrouded the room. All that was there was the cheery carnival music from the background. It didn’t seem to help the eerie sight that was right in front of you, just a couple feet away.

Your heart dropped as realization had crept in. Someone was capable of killing not one, but two people. One of your very own friends had done this. Though, it wasn’t like it was already the norm for one of your fellow friends to die. That was terrifying enough, but it looked like this has gotten much, much worse.

The atmosphere in their very own dark carnival since the motive had been revealed had been… Emi could almost say anticipatory. One death would be all it took to save so many lives. The magician was certain that nobody would say so out loud right now, lest they fall under suspicion when the inevitable search for the killer began, but she had the feeling that everybody would be grateful to whoever wasn’t taking the elevator ride back up this time, too.

She didn’t allow herself to dwell on the fact that there’s no guarantee that the culprit won’t be taking that ride. EDO’s last announcement had been angry, and the threat of the mysterious ‘wheel of misfortune’ hung over all of their heads; an ominous, looming thought that she didn’t let herself  hold onto for longer than necessary. No, it wouldn’t do! Something to take her mind off things would help.

The idea of something as laughable as ‘stress relief’ in a situation like this was absurd, but Emi would be lying if she said it wasn’t something she — all of them — desperately needed. For most of the day, she had been too wound up and lost in her own thoughts and emotional to leave her room — ever since Yuina’s murder, she had vowed not to let anybody else see her like that again. It’s unbecoming, unflattering, and unprofessional. But as many of her own things as there were in her room, and as pseudo-comforting as the familiarity of it was, it was also far too quiet. If there was one thing the fairground had going for it, it was loud, and loud was exactly what Emi wanted — something to drown out all of the unwelcome thoughts their captivity brought with it.

Well, that, and to hit something really, really hard; and luckily enough, they had just the thing, didn’t they? The image of the test of strength machine in the luck and skill games section came to the front of the magician idol’s mind; and just like that, a decision was made.

As she sweeps out of her room, heels clicking on the ground, she puts murder, motives, everything out of her mind. She enters the auditorium, and thinks instead of flashing lights and the imagined heft of the test of strength hammer in her hands. Maybe she’ll even use the batting cages afterwards, really work up a sweat!

Yes, that would work! A perfect plan, as usual, with a predictable outcome. Absolutely nothing could go wrong.

…Or so she had thought, until she turned right into the luck and skill games area and her thoughts were yanked back to death before she could even blink.

It wasn’t so much fun and games these past few days;  the atmosphere was tense and the air was still heavy with dread for what was in store for the remaining students. No matter how many times the children humoured the many fun games the floor had to offer - not like this so called ‘game’ they were playing - the images of their late four friends’ deaths continued flashing in their minds.

It wasn’t before the once inactive screen in all the rooms flickered on, presenting a red and presumably angry EDO. What did they have in store for them now?

"Hey, hey, hey!! What’s this? Bonding? Playing games?! What a childish way to cope with your unchangeable fate; don’t you know how dire the situation is here? Have you given up on trying to find an exit? Oh… unless you’ve finally decided to settle down… Sorry, kiddos~ It’s just not that easy, I’m afraid!

At any rate, playtime is over, and quite frankly I’m a little peeved that no one has even attempted to cause conflict! Maybe if my wheel had been put to use, you wouldn’t be so chummy with each other…”

"Ha-ha-ha… But that doesn’t mean to say that I won’t be able to use it this round! Third time’s a charm, right? Yes, yes… That’s correct, kiddies! EDO has another wonderful new motive for murder to grace you with! And this time, it hits a little close to home…”

EDO gave out another malicious laugh, before the screen faded to black. The students scattered across the rooms watched the television in anticipation for the worst. The screen flickered back on, revealing a pair of middle-aged parental figures tied up, fear in their eyes and guns pointing to their head.

The screen transitioned and each time the situation was similar; family members and friends presumably belonging to each student were shown at their most vulnerable, constricted with tightly knotted rope and threatened with firearms. After sixteen slides went by, the slideshow was over, and EDO returned back to the screen.

"I hope you paid attention to that, because I’m not running it by again. A lot of you weren’t so keen on the idea of someone killing for the sake of others. So with that in mind, hopefully the next person to kill will be doing it for themselves.

What’s with those faces— Don’t tell me some of you still don’t understand. Fine! For those who can’t seem to depict what’s going on, I’ll break it down for you. Whoever decides to take the life of another in this game of mutual killing will save those who they hold dearest to them. Whether it be family or friends, they will have been shown on that screen, and it’s up to you children to save them! If no one kills? Well, then it looks like your friends and family will have to take one for the team, hm?

So, with that thought in mind, I’ll leave you children alone to think about what has transpired. Kill one person, and save your friends and family! It does seem rather tempting, does it not? Bye-bye!
