First drawing of the New Year all nice and painted :>

Can you help me out with drawing feet from different perspectives? I cant even with feet, thank you!
oh dang feet are one of my weaker points so this will be brief.Â
first i start out with the main shape of the foot (simplify it into a wedge or triangle just to maintain proportions) note: toes are weird
and then start filling in the finer details. At this point, its up to the drawing gods to decide your fate idk just a;sldkfjAKDLFJS
*sweats* and there ya go
i need a computer that has a good amount of space and that can run some games like sims 4 and i like dont know whether Asus or HP is best for me please help the guy at best buy was recommending an HP to me but if i can find an asus thats cheaper and has what i need should i??? i literally know nothing about whats better all i know is not to get a dell
From my experience, both brands are fine :>. You should focus on the model of computers youâre getting and not the brand. I agree on that cloud storage space tho. Avoid it. Look for the glorious 500GB minimum harddrive. if push comes to shove you can ALWAYS buy external hard drives if space becomes an issue.
To be real tho, look for a processor that is minimum 1.8-2.0 Ghz if you want to run Sims 4. Also you can generally google benchmarks of both your proccessor and your graphics card to get a good idea of what the computer youâre getting can run. Thereâs a website thatâs dedicated to testing what settings a graphics card can run certain games. Hereâs an example with one of my old laptops
I donât know your budget or whether or not youâre getting a desktop or laptop but those are my biggest bits of advice. Hopefully theyâre at least somewhat helpful ;3;

Heads up PayPal is changing ToS again
And they are getting even more strict when it comes to not using invoices for charging for Digital Goods.
Whatever Invoices make you uncomfortable or not, you gotta start using them if you want to keep your PayPal and your money. Changes starting this October 19th.
Honestly I donât get why so many artists are so overwhelmed by invoices, takes just a few clicks to set up.Â
And is not only âoh you have to use invoices because PayPal says soâ if you donât use invoices youâre putting yourself at risk of being scammed by an user abusing the buyerâs protection.Â
Since PayPal ainât got no idea of what those $50 you received were for, but the buyer is saying they didnât got anything for the money, PayPal will just side with the buyer.
Iâm seriously begging ppl, start using invoices. Iâm tired of seeing ppl complain their paypal was banned, or is under investigation, or worse, the $100 they got for a very complicated commission, 3 months later get a refund issue.Â
just
start
using
invoices
for your own sake.Â
Here is how you use invoices because I canât keep playing devilâd advocate, yes I would love to help you get your PayPal restored but just this last month I had to help three persons, and they were MORE than aware of this issues.Â
Just protect yourself.Â
Step 1. You login and click here
Step 2. You click create new Invoice. YOU NEVER CLICK REQUEST MONEY, unless you want to risk yourself to get scamer by buyerâs protection exploit and not only lose your money but your paypal account, and any future paypal linked to your irl name.Â
Step 3 You follow this steps
1. Invoice for amount only
2. Ask your client for their PayPal email and put in that field
3. Add a vague description of what youâre doing, something like âCharacter Coloured with Backgroundâ is good enough, and if you need more than 1 character you can type in â2âł where it says amount, or just say â2 charactersâ.
Warning: donât type in âNaruto rawing Sasukeâ. That will get you banned.Â
4. Click send.Â
Optional steps. Create a template, doesnât take more than 10 minutes and it will save you a lot of time for future invoices, you can even click on âitemsâ right next to âcreate invoiceâ and add a list of services you offer such as âcharacter sketchâ âcharacter flatsâ along with a price, so next time you invoice you just add to the invoice from your list of items and you saved yourself some more time.Â
More importantly, you protect yourself from buyerâs protection exploit because if PayPal knows youâre doing digital goods, then you will be allowed that you did in fact created a digital good.Â
Keep PayPal happy, as for right now there are no alternatives to this service, and this is the only source of income for many freelancers.Â
Stay safe.Â

HIIRAREFS: Basic and Intermidiate guide to colouring in
What better day to end the year then with a basic guide to colouring- This is for beginners or intermediate artists. Colouring is a big part to an art piece, whether you decide to use colours or not, thatâs up to you, but for the most part, having some knowledge on appliance of colour will really help you out!
____________________________________________
ARTISTS WITH AN INSPIRING KNOWLEDGE OF COLOUR APPLICATION! Please take the time to have a look at other artists work so that you ca research and get inspired!
Gullacass: Uses brights, dulls and pastels to create brilliant guro, pop and macabre pieces| DA + TUMBLR
TinyCalcium: Old friend of mine who explores brights and mustard colours and places them as a foundation for their work | TUMBLR
BeastPop: Talented with opposing and Triwheel colours. Outstanding cell-shading, and knows how to flexibly bend colour form to their will in popart. | DA
H0stel: Fantastic composition of light direction and applies colour to bodies based on ambient occlusion. | TUMBLR
_____________________________________________
COLOUR SLANG: I use some strange slang to express colour types and shades as well as groups. Although they may not be canonically correct, I will use these terms to describe colour palates to the best of my ability! Analogous: Colours that are near or adjacent to each other on the colour wheel, EG: Red and Orange
Oppositional/complimentary: Colours that are opposed or opposite from each other on the colour wheel, EG: Cherry and Green
Triadic: Colours that form a triangle on the Colour wheel, EG: Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. These three colours when mixed together will make black.
Arrowtype/Quadcolour: Four colours, that generally form an arrow shape on the colour wheel.
Tetradic: Colours that form a rectangle or square in the colour wheel
Neons: The very brightest you can get a colour, be careful where you use them as they can look ugly together at the most. Try to use neons when you are adding bright glowing objects to your piece. Neons are great for highlights.
Brights: Slightly washed Neons. Appropriate if you have characters that are colourful.
Washed: Very washed brights with a hint of grey. These are also useful for colourful characters.
Pastels: Colour with white in them to make them seem light.
Baby Pastel: Pastel with even more white in them, good for subtle highlights.
Darks: Colour with black added to them. Used mostly for lineart.
Mustards: Colours with dark grey added to them
Earthen: Colours with brown added to them
Warm and Cool colours: Warm colours are colours that range fromMagenta to Yellow. Cool ones range from Lime to Fuchsia.
Straight tones: A greyscale palate. or a straight scale of one colour from black to itâs neon form.
Warm and cool tones: Warm tones are a greyscale mixed with warm colours and cool tones are greyscale mixed with cool colours.
Skintones: Warm washed or pastel colours generally used to colour in skin, but they donât have to be warm at all! ( I will not show you a palate for this however)
______________________________________________
WHAT TO AVOID WHEN COLOURING: beginner artists, tend to go ahead and start by colouring their line art with neon and mustard colours. Neons are not necessarily good for base colours unless the character has a glow.
I often see lazy attempts to shade, often a beginner artist with use an airbrush and use black and white to shade and highlight their piece. This is not very effective, and Iâm sorry to say⌠Itâs kind of gross as well. Try to avoid being lazy. If you have a piece that has bold black lines, avoid using soft shading and airbrushing at this point of time.
Black and white isnât always the best option when colouring in your piece, but it also depends on the style you are trying to convey. If you plan on only using straight tones to colour in a piece, black and white is good.
A GOOD BASIC WAY TO COLOUR For this basic tutorial I will show you a nice way to colour in a piece with bold lines. I will be using Mintyâs Classic character as an example.
Begin with using brights that have been washed down a little and washed skin tones if your character is human based. Avoid using neons or mustards if you are able. If there is white on the character, such as the white on an eyeball or the teeth, consider using baby pastels. For Mintyâs eyeballs I have used a baby pastel blue. I have chosen to use a darker and more washed version for her Irises.
With you foundation colours placed down, use a washed warm colour for the skin tone, such as a salmon. If the characterâs hair or fur is warm coloured, use a pink or red orange to shade that as well. Use the cell shading technique. This may mean you will have to erase some of your shading so be sure to do this on another layer. For your baby pastels, you can use a regular pastel to shade it. For Mintyâs eyes I have used pastel blue and lowered the opacity by a little.
For Highlights, I have chosen to use baby pastel yellow. I wanted the piece to be warm.
Applying a light airbrush over the top of the piece makes it feel a little softer. I have also applied the airbrush over the initial borders to create colour bleed, giving a very subtle reflective approach.
Colouring your line art layer, particularly if you have bold lines, can really make a piece look more interesting! I like to leave the overall outline black. You can gradient and bleed colour in your line art as well
Light tracing is a technique lots of artistâs use, where they run a sharp line of highlight next to line art to divide borders.
This looks a lot nicer than the black and white shading, doesnât it!? __________________________________________
This is a very very simple guide to applying colour to your piece! If This helped, please reblog and share this guide around!
If you have any questions or feedback, donât be afraid to send me a message!
a thing i only recently realized i knew abt character design that isnt just common sense apparently:
do not start ur character design by doing a full, refined turnaround/model sheet.
like. everyone in my childrens book il class is fuckin doing this even though most of them are illustration majors and its a huge mistake (our prof literally warned them against this, and YET)
any time you design a character, start by not caring. by just doing what feels right. dont settle on the first thing; play around. and then draw your character a shitload of times before u start a ref sheet
dont finish anything, just. do super fast sketches of them over and over and over. fill up a page or two. as you draw them theyll evolve. that will happen whether your sketch it out at the beginning or jump right into a final draft, and lemme tell u, u do NOT want ur character evolving and changing AFTER ur final draft. u want to get that out of the way early so u can get a decently consistent finished product
then when you go to do your model sheet you will already be able to keep your character on model without it bc youve drawn them a shitload of times. then it wont be âstruggling to draw the character the same every timeâ itll just be âthis is what the character looks like and i could draw them with my eyes closed bc of muscle memoryâ
dont just jump in and be like âshit i gotta have this full complex polished thing right out of the gate!â like. in the beginning, Do Not Work Hard. play. play a lot. and THEN do a refined drawing. your refined drawing will look way better, too, bc by then youll be completely comfortable with your design
its just a super bad idea to present a character as âheres a ref sheetâ as soon as you have a concept. your concept will evolve and u have to let it, or else ur designs will look rushed/bad and your drawing will looks stiff and uncomfortable bc u can only draw ur character at a žths view in a particular pose bc youve drawn them twice in ur entire life

Tumblr, youâre killing art.
This is a horrible website for art. This is a horrible website for artists.
The only art that ever gets attention here is fanart, or artists who already have thousands of followers.Â
Nothing new is ever added to the mix, nothing else ever gets out there, because you guys see art, and while you might think itâs cool, you keep on scrolling because it isnât Undertale or Homestuck or whatever sports anime is popular right now. You only give attention to fanart, and even that is an elitist club where attention is only given to the chosen few fandoms.
Artists who create original work are getting less and less support all the time. Iâm feeling it, and Iâm seeing my friends get less support too. Weâre losing followers. Our note count is going down.
âDo art for yourself!â People say. But that only goes so far. No matter how you slice it, getting ignored and snubbed constantly on pieces you spent precious hours on while you watch the notes on a quick fanart doodle soar into the thousands hurts. We donât create art to place it in a dark room and never be looked at. No artist ever posts art here thinking âI hope no one looks at this and it gets no notes.â
Encouragement and praise go a long way to help artists with original ideas, but you guys donât care about original ideas. Theyâre falling by the wayside. Soon there wonât be any new things to make fanart of. How many movies that have come out in recent years have been sequels or remakes? A lot more than new, original concepts, thatâs for sure. When you look around in a few years and find that everything is stale, boring, and overdone, know that you have no one to blame for that but yourself.
Ideas need support. Ideas need to be shared and fostered and encouraged. Otherwise, they die off into nothing.Â
Reblog more than just fanart, please.
You know, itâs not even just artist that have thousands of followers.Â
I have 5k+ followers as of a couple months ago. My original works hardly get any notice, and a lot of the time my fanart doesnât get noticed. People are ridiculous when it comes to reblogging peopleâs art. Theyâre ashamed of it for some reason. Like, Iâll have art that has 100 notes. two of them are reblogs, and they were MY OWN REBLOGS. TO MY OTHER TWO ART BLOGS.
People need to fucking reblog art. REBLOG THE ART PLEASE. SUPPORT ARTISTâS ORIGINAL CONTENT! PLEASE!

Ah yes, quick portrait studies of new OCs 8).
I played around with the symmetry ruler and I kinda dig this style of drawing.
