The man’s tone was beginning to annoy Dinah, who didn’t like being made to feel like an idiot. But she managed to hide it fairly well, replying, “Well, that’s one to bring up to whoever invented the concept of the ugly Christmas sweater!” She forced a laugh to attempt to lighten the mood, “Right, okay, well, Santa’s not a stalker, kids write him letters after all, and they’re fully aware he enters the house. And it’s not about celebrating Santa Claus, it’s the birth of Jesus. And if you don’t believe in Jesus, well, there’s Hanukkah and Chinese New Year and lots of other holidays this time of year too. So it’s celebrating the season, creating some light and joy in the middle of winter.”

Alice had been pretty zoned out. She had a love/hate relationship with the wintertime and probably looked like such a grump from an outsiders perspective. Having Dinah rush out to her like she was having the worse day of her life proved that theory to be true and Alice smiled at her cousin. “I’m not cold kitty cat, but thank you.” She wrinkled her nose and smiled. “Arendelle is beautiful but I like it better in the summer…..because then when it looks all frosty it is refreshing.”

Dinah smiled at the familiar nickname. Alice was the only one who called her “kitty cat,” and she preferred it that way. It gave it a more personal connection to her cousin. “No? Well, okay, if you’re sure,” she stuck the hat onto her own head and slid on the mittens as well, “I agree, it’s very pretty in the summertime, with all the flowers and green grasses and sunshine!” At Alice’s explanation she had to giggle a bit. Her cousin had always been not quite able to speak her mind, which could be frustrating, but Dinah mostly found it endearing. This appeared to be one of these instances. “But if it’s refreshing in the wintertime, maybe that means you actually like it more in the winter? Because it sounds like you like summer because of the anticipation of winter. You know, it’s like liking Friday because its the day before the weekend, when really you just like Saturday.” 

“Can’t you see I’m busy?” Adam said as he was placing some books back on a shelf. “Is there something I can help you find though? Or perhaps a question I can answer for you?” If a person was going to interrupt him while he worked it might as well be worth while.

“Oh my god, they have like, the biggest cocoa station this year, have ya seen it yet? It has like, a gazillion different flavored cocoas and I literally crammed in as many as I can!” The girl rambled out excitedly, holding up her mug filled to the brim with chocolate chips, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, peppermint shavings and rainbow sprinkles, looking like it was about to spill at any given moment, and there was really no promise on how good it actually was considering all the different packets she managed to mixed into the single cup, but hey, at least she was happy.

Dinah’s eyes widened at the sight of the mug, and she couldn’t help but grin. Mabel’s happiness was certainly infectious! “Woah, you might need a bigger mug for that one, maybe even two!” she exclaimed, shaking her head slightly, “And speaking of a second mug, where can I find myself this sugary creation? Because I’m 100% in!” 

Wanda left the house early to go Christmas shopping, an arduous task Cosmo had immediately made his lack of interest clear in. Everyone stressed themself out this time of year and it didn’t make much sense to him. Why would you be worried about the perfect present for someone when having them in your life should be enough? Also, everyone was trying to come up with their New Years resolutions, but no one could control the future. Hell, no one even knew what the future could hold. But something did…. Something with greater psychic properties than his Aunt Mertle… His daily mission had become clear. It was a bit of a drive to the Asian Market, but he successfully left with three hundred-count bags of fortune cookies and made his way towards the city center. It didn’t take long for Cosmo to set up, pillows left in his back seat from a past drive-in movie night laying atop a shaggy old blanket, lastly grabbing out the extra Halloween candy bowl Wanda had told him to return. At least it was going to good use, right? He plopped himself down on the setup, leisurely opening a bag of cookies before pouring as many into the decorated metal tin as could fit. He was comfy, warm, and ready to make peoples’ lives easier. It did take a few minutes for the first person to walk by, most likely due to the cold, but he lifted up the candy bowl as they did. “Fortune 300!”

Dinah wouldn’t say she believed in superstitions, but she did find them intriguing and, at the very least, amusing. She believed people were in charge of their own destiny, and that that shouldn't be decided based on when you were born or what someone saw in a crystal ball or some fortune cookie. However, the sight of a man handing out fortune cookies intrigued her. He had certainly put effort into it. After all, he had a rug and a pillow and everything. A little break from shopping won’t hurt she thought to herself, stopping in front of the man and looking at the bowl curiously, “So...do I just take one, or do I have to pay or something?” Fingers crossed it didn’t cost that much - Christmas shopping was already too expensive as it was. 

“the hint of cinnamon in this certainly adds some flavor, where did you get this?” Brandon turned to keep said person in their view. Normally work hours kept them in the office, but winter hit a bit early this year around. “Also, I haven’t seen you around much, how’ve you been?”

“Oh, I’m so glad you like them! I’d say I made them, but really all I did was do the taste testing,” Dinah admitted with a smile, “My roommate made a whole bunch, and we’re trying to get rid of them before they go stale, so please, have some more!” She took her own advice and took a bite of the cookie before answering, “Oh yeah, I’ve been alright. Been meeting lots of new people at uni, which is always great. What about you?” 

Hades was being his most festive, which meant he was hanging out in public, drinking extremely alcoholic eggnog, smoking, and judging people for their ugly-ass holiday wear. “Okay, why exactly do you look like Buddy the Elf threw up and you made it an outfit? Just. Wanna know the thought process of why you would ever think that’s a good idea.”

Dinah laughed, glancing down at her Rudolph sweater and candy-cane leggings with a grin, “Well, first of all, it’s Christmas! And festive! Don’t you think we should celebrate the season? And secondly, it’s super comfortable, all fuzzy and warm. And thirdly...” she shrugged, unable to come up with a third idea, and eager to showcase the joyful attitude so crucial to the season, “Did I mention it’s Christmas? So the real question, then, is why aren’t you dressed up?” 

Sally had a moment of time to herself and wasn’t very sure what to do with it. It was a quiet moment early enough where there weren’t too many people around, and she took the moment to take the sights in. Winter Village always had a cute charm to it….one that made it feel like Christmas every day. She had always been enchanted by it, but never had much time to stroll through it. With the lights and tree up it really made everything feel more magical. And it was magical enough that she hadn’t realized someone was walking alongside her until she happened to glance by her side and jump a little bit. 

Dinah laughed brightly, holding out the mittens and toque and nodding, “Normally I wouldn’t give out my number so easily,” she joked, “But that was pretty clever, so I’ll give it to ya!” A grin accompanied her comment so he could be sure she didn’t consider it romantic, “Is my cell alright?”
