what people think pro ship means: dangerous people who want to harm children in real life and/or think taboo subjects in real life are justified
what pro ship actually is about: the belief that people are allowed to enjoy fictional thing however they want, as long as it's fictional and no one in real life gets harmed or harassed in any way, and as long as they tag their trigger warnings properly.
most pro ship folks I've come across are just "hey, you like this fucked up thing that is fictional? okay, cool. you do you, man. I myself don't even like this thing that you like, but hey, it's not real. and I trust that you know the difference between fiction and reality, so you do you. if it ever gets too much for me, I will just block or mute you and move on with my life, but that doesn't mean I think you're a horrible person in real life because of the fictional thing you like, it just means I'd rather not see or engage with this thing that can make me uncomfortable. I still want you to have fun doing what you love, and I still think you're cool as fuck. love and respect, dude"
meanwhile most anti ship I've seen are like "omg you like this fictional thing where fictional children are harmed??! Red Flag Red Flag. put this gross piece of shit behind bars immediately!!!"
and I'm just ????? I don't normally engage in fandom wars, but I think, as long as you don't harass anyone in real life and as long as no one in real life is in danger or is harmed, how you enjoy fictional things is none of my business. and I'm not gonna make any "call out post" where I encourage my followers to harass you because you like fucked up fictional things that I personally don't like or believe is wrong either.
I mean, from personal experience, I was exposed against my will to thing I didn't want to see from anti's screenshot of fanart or fanfic where they encourage their followers to harass this person whose fanart or fanfic, that was screenshot and spread by them, was originally tagged properly with all the trigger warnings so that people who didn't want to see it wouldn't get exposed to it. until anti screenshot it and flaunted it around in the name of being morally superior while also, at the same time, advocated for the witch hunt against someone who just wanted to mind their own business. so... the irony. lol
fandoms used to be more peaceful before Fandom Police starts their witch hunting, but it's a good thing we can just block these people and keep on enjoying our blorbos however we want to enjoy them.
and I'll always encourage every artist to write whatever they want, draw whatever they want. don't let people who think they're "morally superior" tell you you can't make art this way or that way. my best advice would be to block and ignore and keep on creating what you want. they may be loud, but at the end of the day they're just noises and they're not worth your attention x
From what I understand about proshipping, it can make some people uncomfortable and may negatively impact younger individuals. However, I also know that most proshippers are just having fun with fiction; they aren't intentionally trying to hurt anyone, and they aren't doing anything in the real world. I don't have a definitive stance on the topic, but based on what I've heard and observed, proshipping is acceptable as long as no one is harmed and there are no negative consequences.
hey tetro fandom. a bit from me about what's been going on.
keeping this post up because I think the message about creativity is important but my updated thoughts on this are here. I haven't made a post on the things that have come out since then but I DO NOT SUPPORT VON OR HER ACTIONS and I'm truly truly sorry for the hurt she's caused.
in case anyone reading this is unaware, some pretty damning evidence lately has resurfaced about vonbabbitt tracing and/or using ai. as of writing this, nothing has been confirmed and honestly I don't think it's my place at all to speculate on whether it's true or on the intentions of the people accusing. I will, however, try to put down my feelings about all of this into words.
also, please keep in mind this is all unconfirmed, but I personally can't deny the evidence given as the situation is currently. tldr about what all this means for my blog in the future at the end.
tetro has meant so much to me over the past half year it's been in my life. it has helped me stay in contact with some of my closest friends and feel like I meant something to a community, and I will forever be grateful for both of those things. I've been watching tetro since the middle of chapter 5 of pink, although I didn't get on tumblr for a while. it's been the first fandom that I really get to share with everyone else. it's been the first piece of me that I've shown to the world.
which is why I feel so, so betrayed.
I didn't speak up on this for a bit because I've been processing my feelings on everything for a long time. I won't lie, my first reaction was immediate denial and dismissal, but as I looked into it I started to sink more into creeping dread and hopelessness. I have always tried to see the best in all of the controversies this fandom has encountered, but I don't want to be someone who just blindly believes either.
for a while after the news came out, I just felt sick whenever I thought about it. the allegations, the art, even tetro as a whole. I didn't really understand why at first, beyond my natural repulsion to ai and ai art. but now I think I do. I was disgusted and angry by the fact that this beautiful project, that I had given hours of my life and my creativity, and that had given me so much in return, could've been built off of soulless ai. that the characters I had loved and lost, that I had drawn hundreds of times over, could just be a product of code and stolen work.
that disgust that took over every time I thought about tetro made me really wonder if I could ever enjoy it again. and that scared me. a lot.
the friends I've made through this series, and the belonging I've found, even with the drama and the fear, is something I didn't know if I could go on without. I didn't know how to be without tetro.
I've thought about this a lot in the past few days. I've thought about whether or not it's worth it to stay in this community, I've thought about whether or not it's even worth it to keep posting at all. but most of all, I've been thinking about why. why this happened in the first place.
I don't think von is evil. I don't think she's a horrible person, and I really, really hope that she will be okay all of this. I think a part of why I feel like this is my own fault, for assuming total moral purity in someone else. she isn't perfect, and thinking "she wouldn't do something like that" is only harmful to everyone. in fact, I really have no business speculating on von's life or her reasoning at all as a random nobody on the internet. so I'll just say this.
if one of my friends or mutuals showed me tetro as a project they were working on as one person, with all of the effort put into it, while balancing a job and life, and admitted that they were tracing ai because they couldn't feasibly manage the project otherwise, I wouldn't hate them. I would try to warn them, try to offer alternatives, or offer my help. I would do everything I could to find a way for this story to come to life without the use of ai. and in the end, I would feel a little uncomfortable with them. but I wouldn't hate them. in the end, whether you consider it a valid excuse or not, tetro was never supposed to be this big.
I'm trying my best to hold onto both that disgust I felt, and the understanding that came after it, as hard as that is. tetro controversies around von's writing or art have always left the sinking pit in my stomach that is the feeling that it's not worth it to create anything. I looked up to von because to me, she was a symbol that you CAN do it all. but you can't. not without time, not without cutting corners. and for a while to me that meant that it wasn't worth it to try. even today, I've had that feeling.
but I think it is worth it. it's worth it to create. it's worth it to make fan works, it's worth it to have characters who will never see the light of day, it's worth it to be in a space with other people who think it's worth it.
the use of ai in tetro's creation is an undeniable and unhidable part of it, and I still don't know how to be okay with that. it’s okay if you can’t be okay with it.
but as much as that, the amazing voice actors' performances are also a part of it. the writing in every beautiful moment we got in both pink and blue is a part of it. the characters who I loved, who I saw myself in, who helped me be okay with myself, are still a part of it.
I still want to love this fandom and this series, but I don't think it should be my whole world. I don't think anything that could collapse like that should ever be my whole world.
in the end, I’m not defending von or her actions. I still personally feel disgusted at the idea of her using ai and I don’t want to sweep this under the rug. it is a betrayal, and it’s one we shouldn’t forget. I just hope that in writing all this out some people could get an understanding of where I’m at and maybe gain a more nuanced perspective.
so what does this mean for akari-of-moonlight?
well, first off, my reblogs. I haven't been as active in the past few months, since life has been rough, but I used to be kind of known for being the local reblog guy. I still really, really want to give the art and writing and other posts in this community the love they deserve. but the way I was doing that, by constantly checking the tetro tag and exposing myself to literally everything out there has been making me unhappy. I have a bunch of reblogs queue'd up, and a few more I still want to do, but after that, I may be a lot less active in reblogs, since I want to try to break some of my scrolling habits.
but as for my posting, I'm honestly not sure. I don't know if I'll keep up with tetro blue as actively, and even if I do, I don't know if I'll post about it much. but the tetro pink characters still have an irrefutable place in my heart, and I still have a lot of projects I really want to finish for this series. most of all, I want to keep being a safe and fun space for my mutuals who fell in love with this series and just want somewhere to get away from it all. if that means other people want to unfollow or block me, that’s totally fine.
also, I have been getting back into kagepro and getting into a few other fandoms that I'll leave unnamed for now, so I might post more in those fandoms. and, of course, there's the matter of my characters. I don't know if I feel comfortable posting about them yet, but I do want to at some point.
anyway, all that to say, I'm not sure if I'll keep posting tetro as much as I have been. but I'll still be here, until I have no one to stay for. and we're a long way from that right now.
thank you to everyone who has been kind to me here. I'm truly sorry to everyone else who feels similarly betrayed. it shouldn't be like this. please, whether you drop tetro or not, never let yourself believe that it's not worth it to create. create for yourself, so you can do better.
I don't know if I mean much in the big expanse that this fandom has become anymore. but if you made it this far, whichever way you've decided to go because of this, please, try to lead with kindness and love. it's all we can do.

Like sure he is smaller than his brother or father but like if youve seen the movie they do explain the reason why that is.
Also the whole argument about the blooding ritual is kind of like saying people without drivers licenses are children, its a cultural marker of adulthood not tied to biological age. Besides he arguably completes it by the end anyway not to spoil too much.
Articles calling him a teen and child dont refer to authorial intent, if Dan wanted him to be a child I feel like the synths wouldve said he was when scanning him but they didnt.
Like this isnt a thousand year old dragon loli thing, this is an adult alien, who behaves like an adult, played by a 24 year old actor. He just isnt a minor, maybe in his 20s by human age standards but calling him a minor is stupid. I can't believe this is a contentious topic in the fandom.
Even so, me shipping Thia and Dek shouldnt be a problem even by your twisted logic since Thia is a synth probably built recently by the movies beginning so like, is she a minor? no because physically and mentally she looks and behaves like someone in her mid to late 20s, ya know, like the actress Elle Fanning is.
I'm sorry for the rant but i've recieved multiple messages and even some death threats for shipping what seems to me to be clearly two adults close in mental and physical age and this is some of the most mental gymnastics takes ive seen people do on tumblr and ive been here since 2009.

Hateful discourse has surrounded a creator who, for the most part, has done nothing wrong. There are words being spread about this artist that I particularly disagree with. While I don't want to speak on their behalf, the claims being made are, to my knowledge, untrue. The statements made by the creator have been misinterpreted and taken out of context. Continuing to fuel this drama should not be the goal; it’s time for it to come to an end. There is no reason to keep posting about the artist.
