    She’s met Frisk. She’s met Papyrus. Now, she meets again yet another friend from the Underground. Well, “friend” is being used rather liberally. No, this reptile transcended simple friendship. In that regard, catching sight of this yellow-scaled scientist ended up being an instant mood booster for an otherwise high-strung fish girl.

    Halloween is right around the corner. It would seem like there’s plenty of humans doing last-minute shopping for macabre little trinkets. What for, she wonders? Humans are obsessed with supernatural things, it seemed– things that monsters don’t really bat an eyelash at.

    It looked like Alphys, just as contemplative as ever, stood idle by perhaps musing over something. Nostalgic– that’s how they first met, wasn’t it? 

    Undyne with her freakish height stood behind the shorter Alphys, quite literally hovering over her as if aching to surprise her with her presence.

She hoped the voice belonged to who she hoped it was, and that she wasn't hearing things.

And as she turned around, Alphys would see that she was correct about the assumption.

Alphys smiled in relief when she saw the figure, there she was, Undyne! In the flesh! Or scales, either way—She was here now and that was the most important part! 

"O-oh, Undyne, Undyne!" Alphys began excitedly, "It's you! I was looking for you all over and the rest said they knew where you were, but here you are! I didn't expect you to find me first, though!”

Not to mention lizards who meets all those above requirements and looked like they were having a religious experience in front of a dumpster, clutching something that looks like a small, sleek plastic box with a colorful cover.

❝ Hellooo? What’s that? ❞

If their reaction was that extreme, it might be something really interesting. Who knows.

“Ah... W-what?! What? Just who are you?”  She quickly exclaimed as she held the small case to her chest.

Come on! When she finally began to dig through the trash to look for any items that might be of valuable, someone surprised her. Which almost made her stumble and drop the ‘goods’.

When she was sure she had a nice grip on the case she found in the dumpster, Alphys turned around quickly to get a better look at the stranger. Besides, if they looked hostile... She could always run for it, right?

...Oh, it was just a young human(?) girl.

She sighed and lowering her shoulders in relief. Sure, the girl looked harmless, even if the way she just snuck up on her was just creepy.

To be honest, Alphys wasn’t sure if she could call her human with those blue-purplish cords around her person. She looked like a human for the most part.

“O-oh... Hi? Um... do you mean this?” Alphys squinted at the case she was holding, of course she knew this was anime! What else would be in a small plastic case in the trash? “T-this is anime! To be specific,” She held the small box at her face, reading it, “Spirit... Tales?”

“Weird name aside, who would throw this away? It’s not like it was...” 

She made a face just thinking of that disgusting sequel to the series.

“Ugh, Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2. I mean, they just decided to put in more kissing scenes for what? Fanservice? Oh, don’t me started on how they just introduced in more characters and right, that’s cool and all, but they barely gave them any screentime! One even had like, what? 5 minutes of screentime? And that was throughout the whole series! Don’t get me started on that animation, it’s gross! Those kissing scenes just made me want to turn it off and throw it in the trash. Speaking of trash, that’s what it is, trash! Garbage!"

He was so absorbed with this thingamabob, that he didn’t even turn until he heard a ‘Papyrus?’.

「 …OH! HELLO THERE, DR. ALPHYS! I WAS JUST CHECKING OUT THIS WEIRD WHATCHAMACALLIT. 」He still had to wonder: was the dog stuck inside? He never got around to opening the thing…

“Um. Hi, Papyrus. And... what is so interesting about that thing? It just, um, smells like a dog to me.”

The smell was... pretty strong, to say the least. Was that what interested Papyrus so much? It reminded Alphys of how the Endogeny smelled, to be honest.

Alphys recognized all of those names, but Nosferablook? That confused the scientist for a second, before realizing Papyrus meant ‘Napstablook’

“Don’t you mean... Napstablook? But the first complex? I've just been at the fourth complex, It’s rather interesting in there, but nobody from back home lives in the fourth complex, as far as I know.”

The human jumped and waved as her as soon as they had spotted her. They were happy to see her too. They had already seen Undyne and Chara, but that didn’t affect how happy they were to see Alphys. Well, maybe a little, but mostly just seeing Chara. That had ruined their mood a bit, but Alphys was here too and that was good!

“Alphys!” Frisk called in return for their own name being yelled.

When Alphys was leaning in, Frisk mistook it for another gesture and wrapped the monster in a very brief hug. However, her words were a little… Frisk got the feeling she didn’t quite understand the situation they were in.

“Well, this is a surface, but it’s not the surface. We were taken here…” Frisk gave a small frown. They didn’t understand how Alphys could be confused. They remembered seeing her after everyone moved to the surface. And yet she didn’t remember it. Frisk felt like something was going on that they didn’t remember.

“Taken, popping up? Who would take the time to just kidnap us and just not take us all together..? W-we’re just some monsters and a human going up to the surface! But um, being taken aside, we shouldn’t worry, right? You and me are here, and we can work on finding the rest together when they manage to arrive!”

“...If you want me to come along, of course!”

The city was large and confusing in comparison to the Underground, after all. And with Alphys not being fully settled in it yet, it might take even longer—but they could try, right?

    He would have never expected that a throwaway pose for the camera would have brought about such a relieving turn of events. The Human world… it’s starting to worry him, more and more.

    “Alphys! Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you this whole time, you slowpoke! My circuits have been fried twice now, and my heart is going to literally break if you don’t tend to it immediately. What took you so lo

    No. If he were the monster he were before, maybe. But as the man he is today? 

“T-that’s really neat! I’m really glad the whole thing’s working out... And this city’s been pretty interesting so far! I’ve met up with some of the people we knew about back home, but I still can’t find any of others that I haven’t seen... But we will all get back together, right?”

“But S-spill everything? Hmmm, anything else...” 

Alphys scratched her cheek for a moment, attempting to remember any happening in the city, what has she seen?

“Oh, there’s also anime in the dumpsters here! It’s just like home, but there has been no signs of Mew Mew or any of the other anime that I picked up back home just yet... I’ll actively be searching for the fabled copy of Mew Mew 3, however! If I didn’t find it back home, m-maybe it will be in this city! But hopefully, it will be better than the heap of trash that is Mew Mew 2. More like Ew Ew 2, am I right?”

Internally, Alphys high-fived herself for making up Ew Ew 2 on the spot, she should have thought that up ages ago! Nice.
