ok personal feelings aside, one of THE most controversial aspects of the HP series is the issue of house-elves. the series doesn't take a clear stance on the moral issue (Hermione is usually shown to be "right" on moral issues but this one is a bit murkier; most of the characters adopt a "just wait for her to stop talking" mentality about it, or actively tell her she's in the wrong, and then it just sort of fizzles out). It's easily one of the story aspects that I see the most criticism of, to the point that I found myself hoping the new HBO show would cut them out entirely.
Buuuuut I just had a thought of a way that the House-Elf Problem could be fixed, and with very few tweaks to the story, too! ok come with me on this....so if I were rewriting the story from the beginning, the house-elf lore would be:
House-elves show up in big, grand manors, attracted to places of finery and history
no one quite knows where they come from but you need to maintain a certain level of grandiosity to keep them
they don't stay where they aren't needed; if there aren't a lot of messes they just leave unless they have a great fondness for the family
HOWEVER
much like the legend of Selkies, if you hide a house-elf's clothes, it's unable to leave your home
this is considered very cruel but not illegal due to wizarding society being unfair to nonhuman magical creatures
the Malfoys have hidden Dobby's clothes and until they give him some, he can't leave
the Hogwarts house-elves can still think Dobby is weird and embarrassing for talking about private house-elf business to humans (rather than because he's a freedom-loving weirdo)
Hermione internalizes this as "all house-elves are slaves, this is cruel and horrible" because whenever she sees one they're working extremely hard and they don't want to talk to her about their status/situation (because that's elf business and none of yours)
Winky can just get normal fired/banished like a servant
Crouch talking down and mistreating her is still an issue!! that's not good of him to do!!
the Order feels they have no choice but to hide Kreacher's clothes because he knows too much, they can't let him leave
Hermione initially, foolishly campaigns for SPEW to end the enslavement of all house-elves
when she actually TALKS to the Hogwarts elf staff they basically tell her, yeah no those are rare situations, please stop speaking for us, we want to be here
her angle can CHANGE to be, there should be some oversight to make sure that house-elves are only serving consensually, since it's so easy to take advantage of them
which is a decent position to take!! but could still have a lot of people rolling their eyes and refusing to help because I Don't Think It's That Much Of An Issue
I think in general this would be a more nuanced take while still pretty much having every single story beat able to be preserved? Thoughts?
So, we have chunks of time unaccounted for all over the place between all forms of HP media.
We know classes begin at 9am and that a break exists between the first and second class. We know after lunch, classes begin at 1pm and last until 4pm.
In Legacy's data, which does contract itself in places (god, looking at blood status makes me want to pull my hair out because it doesn't reflect the finalized versions of character's stories), DOES give us some interesting tidbit: TEACHER OFFICE HOURS.
These are almost completely uniform before breakfast and after dinner. Two more shorter breaks (listed as OfficeTimeBreak1 and 2 in the ActivityDefinition table) exist, but appear staggered (Earliest starts around 10am and latest starts at 1pm). These are all 30 minutes chunks. Knowing a 30 minute class break exists, you can just lump them together. Knowing when lunch is, you can divide the remaining time to get class length.
Because we know double-length classes exist, list any of those after lunch. If you manage to score two singles, god fucking help you, because that's there's no transit time built in to get from point A to point B (but i imagine teachers are lenient because their school built its schedule like ass). I'd say it's a 5 minutes transit allowance tops. Just pray your professor lets you out with some wiggle room. (3rd would let out a few minutes before 2:30pm, 4th would expect you before 2:35pm)
A second Office-Hour-specific break is listed (again, half an hour long, staggered all to hell between 1 and 4pm), but I imagine you can just slide that around on the factors of-

how quickly they'd prefer to get to lunch
Because, really, you can stick most of those anywhere between 4-5pm.
Late breakfasts also likely exist for the poor bastards with astronomy the night before, or students without a 1st period class who want to drag their heels.
In conclusion, YIPPEE. THIS WORKS FOR ME. IF YOU WANT TO USE IT, GO NUTS. FEEL FREE.
Anyway I feel bad as hell for these imaginary teachers and how goddamn available they have to be for all these goddamn kids. If y'all know any teachers who are living in our real capitalism-induced hellscapes, give them some love. At least our kids don't have magic, but we also have the internet and social media, so really, our teachers are suffering more. Give them some love, and if you can, get those poor fuckers some more supplies.

Big, wand-swinging, Gringotts-auditing questions.
But Why Is the Soul-Bound Wand Cheaper Than a Broomstick?
THE WAND IS YOUR LIFE
It’s your weapon.
Your shield.
Your link to identity, emotion, power, precision, and survival.
You can’t even perform most standard spells without it—unless you're a trained wandless magic user, which is incredibly rare and usually requires advanced discipline or heritage-based skill.
It chooses you. It bonds with your magic. It’s irreplaceable.
So how much does it cost?
Roughly 7–20 Galleons.
Literally less than a decent cauldron—or, depending on the wand, not much more than dinner and dessert in Diagon Alley.
According to J.K. Rowling, wands sold at Ollivanders are generally priced around 7 Galleons, though some fans speculate they could range up to 20 Galleons depending on wand complexity or materials. If we use the exchange rate Rowling once suggested (1 Galleon = ~£5), that means the average wand costs £35–£100—cheaper than a modern mobile phone, and it lasts your entire magical life.
Considering the effort it takes to craft them—rare magical woods, powerful cores like phoenix feather or dragon heartstring, and the expertise of a wandmaker—this price range is still shockingly low for something that serves as a witch or wizard’s most essential magical instrument.

MEAL PRICES IN THE WIZARDING WORLD
Let’s quickly look at the cost of food in the wizarding world, since we’re comparing life-altering artefacts to lunch.
From the Hogwarts Express trolley:
Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, Chocolate Frogs: ~1–2 Sickles each
Harry buys a dozen items with a handful of Sickles (17 Sickles = 1 Galleon)
A full trolley binge? Roughly 1 Galleon.
In Half-Blood Prince, we also get a glimpse of Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley prices:
Butterbeer: ~2 Sickles
Light lunch at the Leaky Cauldron: ~1–2 Galleons
Full sit-down meal with drinks and dessert (e.g. Madam Puddifoot’s): ~3–4 Galleons
So yes, a wand could cost less than a proper meal out—especially if you’re treating someone.

A Nimbus 2000 is gifted to Harry—major moment. Retail: ~100 Galleons.
A Firebolt? Easily over 1,000 Galleons. That’s more than Arthur Weasley’s entire annual salary, and he works for the Ministry of Magic. Literal luxury transport.
Some Hogwarts students can’t even afford a broom—they borrow school spares.
So what are we saying?

But you can hex someone across the room with a wand.
So why is the life-sustaining object priced like a trinket?

Wands are partially subsidised by Hogwarts or the Ministry.
→ A “no child wandless” policy. A right, not a luxury.

And you’re telling me he charges 7 Galleons and calls it a day?
Meanwhile, in the Muggle world, wand replicas at Universal Studios theme parks sell for £40–£70, depending on whether they’re interactive or display-only. That’s almost the same as—or more than—the actual wand price in-universe. And those don’t even come with phoenix feathers.
Either he’s surviving on principle alone, or there’s a secret Wand Subsidy Act nobody talks about.

What do you think about the series treatment towards Muggles?
Most of the muggkes we hear of, are nasty towards wizards who did nothing to them.
Most of the wizards, even the ones who are supposed to be accepting, Seem to treat them as foolish at best or animals at worst.
Even Hermione, began drifting further away from her parents as time passes.
Honestly, I think it's a structural problem that one of the villain's main talking points is that muggles are stupid, lesser, and kind of suck... and then all the muggles we meet are stupid, lesser, and kind of suck.
Like the Dursleys suck. Dudley's friends suck. Tobias Snape is abusive. Mrs. Cole is an alcoholic. The Muggle Prime Minister is a foolish, comic character. (So are Mr. and Mrs. Mason, in like, the one scene they appear.) Tom Riddle Senior is apparently a snooty airhead. The citizens of Little Hangleton are both stupid and mean... probably the most sympathetic muggle character in the whole series is Frank Bryce - who is also crotchety, bad tempered, and (to he honest)... boring.
Once we hit the Fantastic Beast films, we get abusive villain Mary Lou Barebone, some ineffective senators... and Jacob Kowalski. The only muggle character treated unambiguously positively. And I'm not sure I can even give JKR 100% of the credit for him, since I think it's pretty likely he's a recycled Dr. Who companion... and he also gets a wand in the third movie. I would bet money that if the series had continued, he would have been revealed to be some kind of magical something.
What's crazy to me is this is a very fixable problem. Just give Hermione's parents first names and slightly more time on the page. Even just giving them a little more of a moment back in Book 2 would have made a difference. Or (this is my favorite) - make Ted Tonks a muggle, not muggle-born. It changes nothing, and boom. Now at least we have A positive muggle character going into Book 7.
You are completely correct that even the pro-muggle wizards like Mr. Weasley have a condescending, paternalistic view of muggles, and Hermione's decision to commit 100% to wizarding world culture is treated as a complete non-issue, a foregone conclusion. And the books are completely fine with all this.

one of my absolute favorite bits from the hp books that never made it into the movies. though admittedly, the ootp movie had to rly condense a lot. i think the relationship between harry and ron is super underrated/overlooked - there’s so much love, trust, and support between them in this scene.

But drawing it like this on my phone gallery, I think, has more freedom than just using the planner, especially if I am going to incorporate a lot of modded items/structures. That said, I admire people who can masterfully and creatively decorate in the planner! I've seen inspiring works posted in the community.
Usually, I start by going "shopping" through my Happy Home Designer catalog, and place the items I think would suit the area, but not in an organized way yet. After that I freestyle the placement a bit, before actually planning out my layout. And sometimes, I scrap or alter the design. I'm still struggling designing my cellar... Send some links to your favorite cellar design please heheh. For the areas I didn't like after actually putting it in-game, I usually paint the screenshot over and sketch over it.
For bigger maps I can even make a gif of the progression, because I draw and progress bit by bit 🫡 it's not done yet though, just a bit more to go!
