Basically Xtale plot fellows the plot of amphorues and teyvat from genshin impact and hsr somewhat, not gonna delve into detail to avoid spoilers. What i will say is this

The AU was created by an Emanator of ****, who was unaware of how he manifested into existence in the outskirts of the omega timeline before its founding....until a certain man, oh so very certain man, one of the most important beings Lorewise in the noussphere "found" him and entrusted him with children that he could call "family, this man wore a green long jacket cote hybrid, he whispered to him stories of trailblazers and star traveler's, and how he should never no matter what "listen to the voice when he's at the crossroads", and as this being appeared he disappeared just as fast, now with newfound purpose and with the intent of taking care of his new family created an with the original intent of building something nice for his family and children. With said Emanator not realizing his true origins. Tho as time went on and envy slowly crept into his heart after experiencing an eye awakening conversation with another version of himself that longs for perfection and immutability, he began changing in ways the family couldn't tell at first. Until eventually he met with ink, and after learning of his true purpose and his origin which is him and his superb ability coming into existence through the will of his aeon with the sole purpose of being some sort of creation divine spirit that helps with shaping the multiverses and existence, this individual however was confused and was asking why this concerns him whatsoever, and that he deserves to think and decide for his own and walk his own path, and how he doesn't want to be bone meal for strangers that he never met, ink just responded to him with one singular sentence
"your choices dont matter"
A sentence that haunted the man for days on end, he showed ink the way to the front door and closed it. Thinking that would be the end of it, but with him learning of his origins that implies the existence of higher functional beings that created him with a purpose, alongside that singular sentence that solidified that doubt in his heart, it was crippling, it crept into his very bones, sending chills down his mind and heart....until
The place where you have to make a decisive choice once your stress reaches a ceiling, how ironic is that
In this place, he heard a woman's voice, telling him how hard he must've had it, and how surely he would like to disregard the entire world and what they think or say about him. And how the only choice he could make is enforcing his own worldview and choices into reality and disregarding the free will of all others
Xtale is a world that has experienced countless upon countless cycles for the sake of creating a world where only the choices that AU makes is what matters, ultimately for creation
He planned to usurp undertale prime and make it so that all worlds are derivative of Xtale and Xtale only, putting the inhabitants through cycles and resets of stress and adversity, for it is the ultimate way to become stronger and more definitive, from this world zero came into existence, a man who only wished to slack off but was inevitably through fate roped into all types of plots and events that he would forget each time until a man that cant feel laziness or relaxation is born, just like how the toriel of the AU went through experiences that would make it impossible for her to feel heartache or remorse....this individual was methodically removing the weaknesses of his family to make them become everything that Undertale prime lacks, it doesn't help that zero had it the worse due to the profound hatred that the man developed for him, he wasn't known as zero at first, only as sans. But overtime without even him realizing it he was beginning to be called cross by his family, he couldn't remember why, all he knew was that this was his name now. Little did he know that this was the beginning of his dehumanizing
Zero would get often verbally or physically abused by his family throughout his stages of life, he didn't know why or when this started, its as if like memories were manipulated to make him think that they were always like this and yet he cant recall if that was truly the case
Zero would be used as a walking stool by his mother whenever she felt pissed, and as a punching bag by his father whenever he came home drunk, he couldn't recall where his father would even go or know his mother would even get pissed. But they did
Each and every single time zero would be called cross, he couldn't tell at first but slowly he began realizing that its supposed to be a pet name, he started realizing that when he started living and sleeping in the pig's den at first, he cant recall when they ever had a pigs den tho
Sometimes zero would get drunk whenever he went out with his friend and when that happens...his friend turns a whole 180 and would take advantage of the situation by.... Doing things to him, how is he even here ? Wasn't he supposed to be dead, and each time this ghost carved that knife deeper into his face he would constantly keep on uttering the same sentence over and over again in that calm tone of his
Eventually, he couldn't tell how much time had passed at this time or if time was even passing by, but he found someone, a green hooded man that was wearing a green jacket cote, sitting on a well, he taught him things, he told him how his father is trying to recreate the green hooded man through zero, and that he already used genome samples of the green hooded man's current past incarnation from alphatale.... admittedly he didn't know what was he talking about, just like how you the reader dont, afterall this is some lore stuff that would only get revealed when the story is close to ending
The man began retelling him with a story of a child that never gave up no matter the oddity he encountered, and how his father too used him in such skin shuddering ways for the sake of his own goals. He taught him a few skills, and just disappeared from sight.
"the mister was a nice mister, i hope i get to see him soon"
Thought the young child...was he always a child ? He could've sworn he was just....
Memories, deja vu, the man was beginning to go insane from the deja vu's and influx of memories that seem to be stuck on his tongue, just an inch away for him to remember them fully
He cant recall or comprehend what happened, just that he was in a mountain of Bodies in a white void
This is the part where ink would have met him, but the green hood appeared again, teaching him skills and techniques. Giving him a basic idea on what was actually happening to him
He couldn't really comprehend what he was saying, he mentally was fluctuating from the cognitive development of a baby to a child to a teen to an adult to a middle aged man. Confusion was what he could only experience, he was in that vegetative state until 2 voices tried reaching out to him
And it reached him, one was a comforting comfy voice while the other was a sobbing mess of a voice
Eventually, through years and years and years of rehabilitation he would become mentally capable enough to walk and speak. Still not fully understating what unfolded, he chose to pick the name zero. Cutting away entirely from his previous identity cross (yes he is a walking trans allegory) and even the previous one sans, he wants to be known as his own person and not an AU of someone or someone that had his own name enforced on him as a way of torture.
Aaaaaaand yeah that's pretty much a spoiler free story about Xtale and zero, in his life of constant abuse all shaped by the purpose of replacing the prime universe and a secondary goal which was nurturing a being that could force the concept of death and permanently raze the aeon that gave form to that man's existence once and for all
He only had 2 people that not only could resist the mind controls and the effects of cycle's but also friends that genuinely cared about him, that being Xchara. And xtale red(fun fact red actually exists in canon Xtale, tho we only see her in commercial and marketing videos that jakie makes, whenever she appears she just starts fawning over cross and stuff). These 2 solemnly caring about him and such
Zero has no intention of recreating Xtale and wants to be completely dissociated from it, he's currently wandering around trying to search for that green hood and trying to find what he spoke about in the stories he used to tell, untiiiiil his research lead him to Undertale prime, in which he will appear in chapter 1 of the Noussphere titled "the invasion"
