     Edward looked Plasma Grunt 1 and 2 up and down. He was not impressed with their get-up, and he was even less impressed with their hair. “I dunno, guys,” he said. “This seems pre–tty sketchy to me. Maybe next time, alright?” 

     Plasma Grunt 1 shoved a flier in Edward’s face. “W-Wait! Are you sure you don’t wanna join? Like, sure as sugar sure?” A bead of sweat rolled down the side of her dirty face. Edward raised an eyebrow at her, but before he could say anything, she asked, “D-Don’t you want the membership perks?”

     After they pulled it out of their pocket, Plasma Grunt 2 threw a PokeBall into the air. A Venipede appeared in front of Edward’s feet. It cried out happily, and then crawled on top of his boot. Grunt 2 grinned slyly before saying, “You receive one, how do you say… starter.”

     With his hands in the air, Edward replied, “Er, not to rain on your parade or anything, but… I’ve already got a starter. Her name is Rosie. And I’m sure she’d love to meet you. Really! But I don’t think either of you want that, ’cause she gets a little… feisty… when people are pushy with me. Got it?”

     Iris had only been out for a walk with Gooey. She had not planned on having to rescue anybody or fight anything. But, at the sight of some dumb kid being harassed by Team Plasma, she could not just do nothing.

     She popped up at Edward’s side, and placed a hand on his shoulder to put him behind her somewhat. She glared at the two Team Plasma grunts, with Gooey sticking out of her hair and glaring too. “Hey. You two. You ought’a leave this kid alone. You’ve gotta know who I am, right? Yea, of course you do. So you better scram before I kick both of your asses and send you flyin’.

As she moved away, he lowered his hand to his side with a wide grin. Although that grin was replaced with a startled frown as he was nuzzled, grimacing at the feeling of scales on his face. It wasn’t as pleasant as people made it out to be, and he tried to make his disdain clear by gently patting the top of Andy’s head.

“Yeah, it was a little tragic, but at the same time, if they didn’t give him away, I wouldn’t have been blessed to have him, so it’s kind of a double edged Honedge.” He couldn’t help but nod in agreement at her statements. It was very pleasant to see Pokémon trainers not being entirely heartless, and seeing how some did like them outside of battle. Maybe he was wrong about battling? He wasn’t sure. But for now, he just continued to pet the big precious reptile, chuckling.

“Pokémon are strange things; sometimes they love people, sometimes they hate others. It’s really interesting, wouldn’t you agree?” He’d always wondered about Pokémon -especially Dragon Types- and their abilities to sense a bad apple; maybe he had found someone to debate it with.

     Andy pulled her head away from his face, nodding apologetically. Iris never complained, so Andy had assumed it was okay to nuzzle anybody she wanted to. She felt bad now, but he continued to pet her anyway, so she took it that she was forgiven. 

     “That’s true. It’s the same with a lot of my Pokemon. If people hadn’t thrown ‘em out, they’d never be with me, and they’d probably not be treated as well, either. I suppose maybe it’s a good thing they got thrown out, as they’re better off where they are now, but I feel bad for the ones that aren’t so lucky.” Iris sat herself down beside Andy, who was purring softly. 

Rose nods- she’s nervous, but this is what she’s been waiting for since she entered Unova. I’ve never seen that Pokemon in person before- are they that small?

“Come on out, Princess!” Sylveon leaps out without having to be told twice- he rubs against her leg with a purr before entering the battlefield.

     Iris eyed the referee, and then looked to Gooey, who nodded in her general direction to tell her that she was ready. Then, Iris turned to Rose once more and called, “I hope you’re ready, ‘cause my Pokemon and I aren’t going to hold back!”

Miku shakes her head. “No way,” she says. “That’s impossible! If Skitty really is a cat, then… it’d win! No ifs, ands, or buts about it!” With a triumphant grin, Miku slaps the card down on the table. And then she places Axew next to it. After her face has turned comical, she gasps, “Pew pew. Roar! Oh nooo…” She picks up Axew before dropping it. It spins onto the table like a plane in a nose dive. 

Miku picks up the Skitty card. “See?” She taps Iris’s nose with the top of the card. “Skitty totally owned that lizard’s ass!”

But her moment of play is over, and the tears on her face have just begun. They flow like rivers down her face. They show no sign of stopping. “Um, w-well… I can get one. I have a l-lotta money, y’know, so…” she trails off. Around her hiccups, she says, “Will you teach me? I–I mean… I’m not very good at this sort of thing; games and I don’t have much of a history. And, plus…” I don’t wanna just Google it. I want you to be the one to show me how it’s done.

     Iris watches with amusement as Miku forcibly, and falsely, destroys Axew with the Skitty card. It’s so ridiculous, that a Skitty should be able to beat an Axew, and yet, the way Miku is going about it makes it all the more adorable. Iris lifts a hand to her mouth to cover her teeth as she giggles.

     Her nose is suddenly booped. She blinks once, then twice, and then she laughs, unguarded and accidentally. “Yeah,” she says breathlessly between laughter, “Skitty totally kicked ass. I take what I said back. Skitty shouldn’t be screwed with.” 

“Oh! Aha, I see she likes being fussed with~” He reached over using his other hand to try and pet both sides of her face, clearly very amused at the dragon’s reactions. There was something about seeing a Pokémon being relaxed that made Hiroshi relax in return, and it was something he had grown to love over the years. How people could use them for battling when they could be treated like this instead was beyond him!

“I know that feeling with bratty Pokémon. My Poochyena Bonzai was the same way when I first got him.” He began to explain, chuckling at the Haxorus reacted to being called a ‘brat’. “Granted, we found out why he was being grumpy and unfocused, but sometimes people don’t try to find out why and just end up throwing them away. It makes me kind of mad, to be honest.” He grumbled under his breath for a brief period before cheering up again. “I’m glad you kept her though! It’s nice knowing some people are willing to make bonds with Pokémon that may seem unapproachable.”

“Really? I guess I must have the talent for this~” Being able to turn into one was one way of making them friendlier, but he knew mentioning that would freak Iris out more than likely.

     “Ah, yeah, Andy loves attention. She’s a big sweetheart, even though she looks all scary and tough.” The Haxorus pulled her head away from Hiroshi’s hands, only to lean forward and nuzzle his cheek like a big, scaly cat, still clicking her beak happily. 

     Iris watches Andy with a big smile on her face for a while, happy to see her best friend being so friendly to someone else. But, at the mention of throwing away a Pokemon, a horrified expression fits itself onto her face. “People throw away Pokemon just for that? That’s horrifying! Who could be so heartless?” She sets her hands on her hips. “Of course I’d keep her. I’d never throw away a Pokemon, no matter what. She’s just a big baby, just like almost all of them are, and treating them badly just for being rowdy is horrible.”

Hearing each clicking noise the Haxorus made caused Hiroshi to flinch each time, nervously laughing and rubbing the back of his neck. “Sorry, ‘Miss’ Dragon!” As he apologized, he gently pressed his hand to the Pokémon’s nose, petting it with as much care as he could as he watched in amazement.

“She’s so… tame. I’m honestly surprised, since most Dragon types I see are rather rambunctiuous.” Hiroshi commented quietly, more to Iris than at Andy. “How did you get her to be so calm?”

     Andy clicks her beak a few times more, quietly, when Hiroshi pats her nose. She presses her nose up into his hand gently, smiling as best a beaked dragon can. She likes being petted a lot, but it’s rare for anyone to actually be brave enough to do it.

      “Aggron would look awesome!” He claps his hands together. He’s only ever seen photos; he’s never seen many Mega Evolutions in person (he hated to admit that), but he wanted to aim to see as many as he could! Tilting his head, he frowns and crosses his arms. “Well – the stones can always be found in certain areas. The key is knowing where they are.” She could ask one of the villagers back at her home to see if they knew?

     Chuckling, he smiles. “I will see you the day we both meet up and go to the village~!” Maybe, before the both of them went together, he could venture alone. Check it out and say hello to a few people. Would give him a chance to learn a lot more about Garchomp than he already knew. Augustine pauses, offering a smile to her. “I can give you some information on the stone, if you’d like. I’ll just need to pull up some info.”

     “Only in certain areas? That should be a snap. I can go wherever I want to, whenever I want, so if I can figure out where it is, I can just go get one for myself!” she cheers, throwing her arms in the air. “You don’t happen to know where to find one of those, do ya?”
