I would like to apologise to all the hindus out there because i have disrespected you. I have worn the hamsa(at least I knew what it represents) on a necklace, and I have had a henna tattoo. I am truly sorry, because I’ve realised (not only with #reclaimthebindi,I realised I shouldn’t wear the hamsa way back) that it is disrespectful. Just the way I hate it when a non christian wears crosses just to be “goth”. Also, I’d like to let you know that I’ve always admired your culture and religion, and that I’ve thought many times of converting but I am still loyal to christianity. (and, I don’t know if anyone would accept me since I am not southern eastern). I am so proud of you guys. You have the guts to go against the white culture (a culture that I am ashamed to be a part of) to reclaim a very important thing to you. Because I understand that it is like they have stolen a small part of yourselves. And,lastly, I’d like to apologise, on behalf of all the white people that have ever called you terrorists, or made fun of your clothes/colour/facial or body hair/etc. You are all amazing in your own ways, and I am so happy that you guys have decided to stand up against everyone that has stolen the good parts of your culture. Because with a culture come burdens. The white culture has the burden of so many racist people and the hindu culture has the burden of said racists.
